A beautiful song like many other Stones overlooked ballads. Most people are clueless how incredibly deep their catologue is. Theie "B" materail is better than most other groups hits. Going to miss the Stones when they stop touring as they are the last remnants of my youth.
this has always been one of my favourite Stones songs, not heard it for years as all my Stones records were nicked. This is MY top version! delidisaster
Mick Taylor does some amazing 12 string work as well as electric and mandolin. Keith just sang some harmony. Jagger wrote it but Mick T brings so much to everything he did with The Stones. I wish they would tour again with him on lead. Ronnie can play the tambourine or something!
Your Lousiania recipes have let me down, your Lousiania recipes have surely let me down.....LOVE IT!!!! Yep, folks these are obscure Stones songs that only the true fans can realy appreciate.
I always liked this song but I like the overlooked "If You Really Want To My Friend" even more. I'm one who can take or leave Times Waits for No One though. I thinl Fool to Cry is cool soul music while Laugh I Nearly Died is some of the worst Mick ever. I only point that out cause Mick's vocals usually knock it out the park every time.
Songs like this make you feel like the entire album (It's Only Rock & Roll) is totally under-rated. Sure, it's known for the title track, but man,......man oh man, there are some gems on this one.
@GrosBil4 Along w/ "Time Waits for No One"- you can always find a few really great songs on every Stones records, even the overall crappy ones have at least one or two good songs! I mean Keef & Mick can still put their asses on the line & come up w;/ the goods!
Mick Taylor was denied songwriting credits for Sway, Moonlight Mile, Time Waits for No One, and this track, amongst others. All those tracks he wrote with Jagger. He is a sublime guitar player, as the 69-74 period with the Stones & later touches with Dylan attest. (In '69 he played the fills in Honky Tonk Woman and on You Can't Always Get What You Want.) Fantastic melodic invention, wicked vibrato and a mean slide guitar. Most outstanding are the bootlegs of the '72-'73 Stones Tours .
I'll never stop enjoying this song. The full, rich acoustic guitar, the crying piano, and the searing cymbals--a Lousiana recipe to die for! Topped off with some vintage elderberry.
I love those four albums with Mick Taylor. . . . . .Wait...... did he play w them on let it bleed? if so then i need to revise this comment from four to five
Keith plays all the guitar parts on "Let it Bleed." Ry Cooder on mandolin on "Love in Vain," Brian's only credit is autoharp on "Midnight Rambler." The UK mono release of LIB had individual track credits.
having fun yea i'm sure because the difference with the glimmer twins was mick knowing how to use and keith not. its very clear in this vid that mick was hitting keiths stash but he knew how to use them not the other way around. hell yea its so obvious too because mick is all cock-eyed in this lmao wtf!!!
Another one of those great Stones songs that was overshadowed or stuck on the B side of a bigger hit. This was the best sounding Stones period in my opinion. From about 69'-74'
@dannyd1572 That's because that is when Mick Taylor was in the band. I'm not discounting Ronnie Wood, but Mick Taylor is/was much more talented and had so much to offer. Mick and Keith didn't give him enough credit and took credit for his songwriting which led to Taylor's departure from the band. He's a guitar genius. Ronnie has the stage presence that Mick Taylor lacked though and Ronnie Wood is a hell of a nice, fun guy. Very personable and likes to have a good time.
@SatanicMajesty Yep- Very much agreed. So much is made about the Stone post 1974 with Ronnie Wood. Tattoo was a great album and pry their last greatest album. With a couple of exceptions that whole album was thrown together at the last minute to support the tour in 1981. Those songs were with Mick Taylor and taken from Black and Blue, Goats, and It's Only Rock and Roll sessions. I miss Mick Taylor and Bill Wyman.
@trabongo Good choice- My fav- well Exile is good. Let It Bleed was the first Sex, Drugs, And Rock & Roll album. I think all those albums, Fingers, Exile, Bleed all definded Sex Drugs and Rock and Roll.
@dannyd1572 You're right! For me the It's Only Rock n Roll LP is the one the band viruosism is in the ever higher level. Nicky Hopckins, Bill Preston, and the great Ian Stuwart..... Mick Taylor very precise in is solos, Keith playng with soupless.... Fab! My favourite Stones are the ones of the Jones's era, (64/65) but this is one of his best ever albuns.
check out the 5 dvd set on Rajonvision - 'The Rolling Stones just for the record' and on the extra features you will see Mick Taylor being interviewed....'off the record' lol

I looove this song!!! I think this song is right up there with "Wild Horses" & "Winter" as their best bellets.
Henry8544 8 months ago
Only Mick's lead vocal is 'live' - for some reason they are just miming- and playing along to the instrumental version of the studio recording....

I forgot Mick could play guitar. It looks like he's wearing makeup. Probably rubbed off some chick's face he was banging before the concert.
RDBeatnik 9 months ago
@RDBeatnik The make-up was because of the Glam Rock trend.

PS maybe Mick Taylor left because they made him wear Easter bonnets in this video and the one for Dancing With Mr D and Angie

None of the songs, but it’s only rock and roll stood a chance. because this album was put
down by a lot of the critics. I thought it was awesome. Especially
this song. Which gave the Stone a different feeling. Time waits
For no one was my second favorite.
