  • This song is from GTA Vice City. Thats the only reason I know this. This beat go hard tho. :)

  • @sonyguy094

What are you on about? Hyperactive! was his biggest hit (in the UK at least)!

  • I get a tromboner everytime i hear this tune

  • I found this song reading the 1994 issue of Jean Grey and Scott Summers wedding. This is their prank dance.... lol wtf marvel

  • Well, Vice City was really the catalyst for all these comments as well as the 70's and 60's babies who miss they're past.

  • Wow I see a lot of comments about Vice City. I never really saw it as a cultural phenomenon but I must recognize it as so now. Makes a fella wish he had a Dolorian time machine.

  • Song was in Epidose 409 of Breaking Bad as Skyler rings up fake sales at the car wash. Great song.

  • more like breaking bad for the win

  • whatever became of him?

  • @24nov67 He invented the Dobly sound system and made bank.

  • With hindsight, it sounds as if he really really liked the Talking Head's "Remain In Light" album.

  • @itwontcomeout5678 Yes a bit.But i think after that they provided the rhythm.

  • Vice City baby!

  • 1:26 funky voice plus failbone :P

  • Respond to this video... sonyguy94 died in a car accident 7-12-2011 he was 17

  • @sonyguy94 Oh, yeah. There was even a software one out for the Commodore 64 around '82. In this case though they probably just processed his voice with a synthesizer, rather than feeding the lyrics in text through a computer.

  • They should pass a law that all new music vids require all persons to wear cubes on their heads with tear-off pics

  • what the fuck is up with the 4 minutes of commercial? every single fucking time i click the song! i love this song, but fuck the commercials youtube

  • Still makes me feel like i'm about to have a heart attack lulz ... love it :)

  • My mum used to say that song was like me.

  • And this is why I claim the 10 good months I had in the '80's. lol

  • This is really funny ! nice to watch it again !

  • Fucking VEVO

  • Cutting edge stuff in the early 80s. The guy is literally a genius.

  • how could you not like this its poetry in motion lol

  • Classic Dolby! Love him!

  • Way to go Thomas Dolby...you sure crowned my night! xo

  • Vevo...If I am watching Thomas Dolby "Hyperactive" do you REALLY think I am going to be interested in Katy Perry featuring Kanye West? HELL NO!

  • @EdRacer71 lol.....nice one :-)

  • @EdRacer71 Cuz you know what good music is!

  • @EdRacer71 ...just another idea from one of the brilliant marketing gurús with 2 MBAs. As usual closed in their ivory towers with no idea and no interest about what the market wants.

  • @victor6303 kanye west several million views, thomas dolby 100k, I'd say they're fairly clued in :P

  • @Pillbuxing . From a marketing point of view and if you only care for the number of clicks (Per Per Click), you are absolutely right, Pillbuxing :-). Now, let's analize it: Thomas Dolby's video is "unknown" due to the year when this video was launched (I was 17 y.o., then). The question is: how many of those millions clicks (Kanye West) are due to Thomas Dolby's (people like me) redirected link ? :-). ...thank you for your simple but logical comment :-).

  • @victor6303 I don't think they care to be honest, which was my original point haha, if they're so shut in and out of touch how do they have so many hits on one video that it really doesn't matter whether you click on their ad or not :P

  • @Pillbuxing . It matters, Pillbuxing: you "pay per click". Explanations for so many clicks, well, you are assuming that all of them come from Thomas Dolby's video (!)... I guess that even many of us have clicked because of people uses to click to any single option they are offered. That's why, today, the client demands not only number of clicks, but Quality in the clicks (i.e.: the people who click is REALLY highly interested in the subject). I did something similar and received many visits...

  • @victor6303 lol you're the one making the assumption, I'm not making any. For a third time, even if absolutely 0 of those views are from this video, it doesn't matter, they have proven with that number of views they're obviously tuned into what people want. And FYI, both videos are owned by vevo so there's no PPC model for advertising their own videos on their own videos :P.

  • ...but, how many of them repeated and visited my site? barely some of them... or may be no one :-). It is easy to get a click but if you are not really interested, you get back to the main subject... and very annoyed :-)))

• one of my favourite

  • かっこええのう

  • am i the only one who was more than slightly freaked out by this video?

  • He is an inspiration to all of the nerds, pointdexters and Irwins out there.

  • This guy was a fucking freak.

    God, I miss him.

  • I love this video it's funny ( :^D

  • Thomas Dolby is one of the sexiest nerds on the planet.

  • @MrZachman7 Right after Jarvis Cocker and Dr. Bashir!

  • Great video!

  • Comment removed

  • @zxgeneration - Funny you should mention "Magic's Wand" because Dolby was a producer on that track.

  • Funny how on gta radio, there is another song (magic wand by Whodini) that explains what rap attack it :)

  • Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

  • Gr8 song. 1 of my favs. (Y)

  • still a brilliant video

  • People who lived in 80's are getting older and older, soon when they all are dead, 80's will slowly drown under the mass of 2000's, sad :(

  • @goldbullet50 SOOOO SAD BUT TRUE!

  • At 3:51, is it Chris Rock's face? If not it looks a lot like him...

  • at 3:08 his stare kinda creeps me out

  • wtf LMAO that little moan he does at 2:44..I laugh every time..Love this song!!

  • This was his best.

  • trombone part is so wizard

  • nice one EMI blocking the alternative version to this song (miles better) suppose you want us to watch your adverts? ah yes, spanish language adverts really make a bit impact in a UK market.

  • Such a good song..and a good video, they don't make them like that anymore sadly

  • The bass-line, the trombone...... classic!

  • 3:09 is where the music video totally snaps

  • This is why the 80's were great

  • Gnarly special effects. That dude is so rad.

  • This music made a hit in Japan.

  • Nice video

  • I love the similaries to this video and Lindsey buckingham's video "Go Insane" Both great songs!

  • AHHHHHH I HATE THOSE DARNED ADS !!!!!!!!!!! DAMN THEM TO HELL I SAY

  • @anonymousmysterygirl

There are ads? Not if you use AdBlock Plus!

  • @bjornskivids heck yea there are ads and how do you get Adblock plus??

  • @anonymousmysterygirl

  • @J0NNO well sometimes they show vevo always have them especially poptart ads

  • im hyperactie to

  • Vice city FTW

  • 0:01

  • Blows away all the crap out today.....

  • This song is abot ADHD!!!!!!!!!! Great vid and song!

  • I lived in the early 80's as a teenager.

good song and good special effects in this video. :)

  • This almost sounds like a list instead of a song.

  • damn ads

  • Almost completely atypical of TD's work. If you hate this song you should definitely check out his other stuff. If you love it, still do, he is a great composer, & you never know.

    However:

Songs with 'I'm going crazy/insane" in them are not about mental illness, and this is not about ADHD. It is the most vacuous of pop psychology, with any old line that sounds good mixed in. If it made people less scared of it or something, then great, maybe that will make up for the misinformation.

  • lol uhhh those squeaky voices in the chorus

  • Did Dolby contribute to some disco hits in the 70's? No, I'm serious when I ask this. This could've been played at disco clubs.

  • @bucky468 Haha I bet weird al did xD. Hmm I don't know, only 16 so only have heard a few of his songs hehe, but I bet it probably was played there depending which songs.

  • That's a dude's lips playing the flute with the lipstick.

  • I don't get the concept of this song or video - No really - I don't. When it comes to Thomas Dolby I liked him when he worked w/Foreigner on "Foreigner 4" on "Urgent" & "Waiting For A Girl Like You" - but when it comes to this junk I just don't get it.

BTW is this disco - lol?

  • @bucky468 Lol it's simple, he's talking about ADHD, Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, think about it next time your listening to the song.

  • @dsauce93 I know all about ADHD (may have had it at one time during my childhood) but I had no idea Dolby wrote a song about it. OK I admit it - I'm not that much of a Dolby buff. He's a multi-talented musician & he's very intellectual but his music just ain't my cup of tea. This is for Dr. Demento's show. Fits perfectly in w/Demento's format. Weird Al liked this song lol.

  • funny clips - so typical for the 80's. no brain can bring that again

  • Another Vice City Classic!

  • Excuse me for my ingorance, but what came first -- Matt Johnson (The The) and Infected, or Mr Dolby with this release? One of those blokes owes the other one a credit, or at least a beer or two . . . Bass samples, sounds and arrangements are a bit too close for comfort!

  • @Nealo81 Hyperactive was in 1984 , infected was in 1986 .

They are quite similar , but then again I'd bet they have much in common in terms of the equipment used that was such a big part of the 80s sound .

  • At 00:14 Looked Like Neal Caffery For A Second.

  • love this song so flippin hooky, suprised its not been destroyed yet with an unwanted remix ;)

  • love this song so flippin hooky, suprised its not been destroyed yet with an unwanted remix ;)

  • So that's what drugs were like in the 80s...

  • @nevaseenamancry you think is bad, watch running down a dream by tom petty

  • science!

  • Heh. Melons. Bird-brain. Pig-pen. heh.

    Anyone agree?

  • @dondocooperstein no both are excellent

  • This vids the sickest! Ha! Alton Brown! I really have a thing for guys who wear glasses, or maybe just pasty white guys in general, the geekier, the better!

  • This is one of those videos I can't watch high...I love the 80's 80 BABY FOR LIFE!!!!!!!!

  • @BmoreBuddha The golden age of videos, you didn't have to be so pretty!

  • this is the weirdest music vid ever!!!

  • So that's what Alton Brown was doing in the '80s...

  • omg! i'm DYING laughing right now! lmao!!!

  • @pglaskowsky lol!

  • @pglaskowsky The resemblance is remarkable but until you made the comment I would not have made the connection. Quite amusing. I think Alton should invite him on a good eats episode sometime maybe make a video together.

  • @sanfrandreamin Well nowadays Dolby has a shaved head, so the resemblance is less notable.

  • @pglaskowsky

Yeah !! No kidding LOL!! I am glad I am not the only one who thought that.

When I first saw Alton Brown on the Food network I could have sworn I thought that was TB .

  • @pglaskowsky

is this the guy from the FOOD network?

  • Green screen in the 80's was like CG in the 90's. Ha ha!

  • first heard this song on melton community radio in 1984

  • This song used to give me crazy legs!

  • @jjsabenorio lol crazy legs

  • isso que da quando num se tem orçamento no bolso, fik uma bosta o video.....

  • I used to tear up the floor at my high school dance.

  • Awesome tune. I never understood why "She Blinded Me with Science" was more popular.

  • I always wondered that too. Though I love both of them. This one is my favorite though.

  • EXCELLENT-what a sexy nerd!

  • Once upon a time, a new channel called MTV brought us the New Wave like Dolby, Lovich, and the Vapors. The Post Moderners and the Goths no longer had to be tortured by Stairway to Heaven on the airwaves. Not much later, The Real World was produced and MTV learned how much money it could make. They sold out to the profiteers and the cutting edge artists were forced to take the back seat. The innocence was forever lost.

  • @kurtnj63 and then they made mtv2 and for about a year they played nothing but music videos...and then the reality shows started filtering in. now you can only see a music video from the hours of 2 am to 2:15 am

  • @kurtnj63

Nay sir; the *beauty*, was forever lost.
