I've just been reading alot about the Irish Revolution of 1916. Some of the shit done sounds horrible. I would have never imagined a Western European country like the UK (who we were ALLIES with at the time) doing the kind of inhumane shit to other Europeans as late as 1916.

Nationalists in the North have gone from 32% (1961 census) To 45% (2001 census) They are projected to be the majority by 2031. They already form a majority of the under 18s and in 3 of the 6 counties. What then for the Unionists?

James Connolly was very right. An irish freedom fighter, a man of the irish people. Look what greedy capatalists have done to Ireland today. They have imported hundreds of thousands of foreign nationals in order to make money for themselves. Even though the irish culture and identity is fading fast, just so a few elites and a few greedy companies make a pretty penny. Look at the irish lowered and the irish government need to start looking after it's people.

I take issue with some of that. First of all the foreign nationals did the jobs that Irish people thought were beneath them. You can't blame them for wanting to keep their jobs. Secondly our culture is stronger than ever - look at the popularity of GAA.

I think it was on the Solidarity Forever Video. I could go look but, well I know what you are talking about. The 1916 uprising is of special importance to me as my Great Grandfather was killed during it.
