Ever since I saw this in the early 60's, I have heeded this advice: "Watch the skies, everybody....." We all should...ya never know what you might see......and wish you HADN'T!!!
Saw this movie as a pre-teen on a late show in the mid-50s and it was awsome! For you young folks, this is one of the best science fiction movies ever made in my opinion. We don't need all the stupid special effects of people doing things they couldn't do on the best day they ever had. I defy you to watch this movie and find anything by any of the actors that you yourself couldn't do!
R.I.P. James Arness: He is the "thing" Also its important to remember this was made during the height of the cold war hysteria and "keep watching the skies" calls attention to that fear. Does anyone remember the air raid drills and how we had to sit under our desks and away from mirrors away from the glass.As if that would save us form a nuclear bomb? If your are under 50, you don't know.
Plants that walk and kill! Oh Boy!! Please be carefully attentive to watching the skies. Watch for very tall and large hot dogs landing on earth. Keep your grills warm and hot.
