  • I have one and I love it, but it does have the tendency to round the tips if you are not careful.

  • Nice ch! Subbed ya to bro

  • How does it do on scandi grinds.

  • i have the same winchester knife and thoes are supper dull

  • can you make a in depth video on convexing your knives with this system?

  • would this sharpener work at all for a deep convex such as one you would find on a fallkniven.

  • My bk-2 becomes hairpopping using the lansky system... Yeah im to lazy to handsharpen it, i had a hard time with the 30 degree angle at first, seems the bk came with a 35 - 40 degree edge or so, i reprofiled it to 30 according to the lansky follower at least

  • Hey Adam I got a Idun for christmass. So this will sharpen all my falkniven knives back to a razor convex grind? Thanks for the vids. You have sold me on fallkniven I bought a F1 and then recieved an Idun 6 months later.

    -Daniel

  • this tool is awesome however if your not careful you can easily round the tip off, read the directions and know how to use the tool

    start with garbage knives

  • Got one for Christmas. Does weird things on my Tenacious. Using the technique you did in the video it put a kind of a "curved" edge on the blade. I had to flip the unit around for the alternate sides so that the sanding belt was hitting the edge going "down" on both sides instead of "up" one way and "down" the other. I don't know if my description makes sense, lol.

  • thanks for the quick reply

  • hi Adam ,how long you think the sanding bands will last

  • @cassanoa , I got three sets, sharpened about 40 knives and I think it maybe time to get a fresh set. Not to say the ones I have don't still have some life in them yet, bu the 6000 is almost done.

    - Adam

  • Nice..... Tomorrow i will cash my check and will get one......

  • Hi Adam, What guide are you using? Kitchen, 40 deg or 50deg outdoor?

  • @Equip2Endure How does this do on knives with recurves

  • floor must look like a barber shop!

  • Hi Adam just wanted to ask if the sharpener is compatible with a 240v 50hz mains or is it 110v only?

  • i have a spyderco tenasious do you think if i dont use the guide it wont make a convex on my pockrt knife

  • Hey Adam. Did you find that the worksharp rounded the tips of any of your knives? I followed the directions and the company's vids and now my BK2 has a butterknife tip. Its crazy sharp, but took the point right off. suggestions?

  • Thanks for the vid, I was sold after watching it! I've been looking for something like this for a long time! My Work Sharp Knife Sharpener arrived today and I immediately put it to work sharpening my Cold Steel Kukri, Latin machete, Special Forces Shovel, and SOG Tactical Tomahawk! Just like you said, it puts a WICKED edge on it! After I'm done with the rest of my blades, I will proceed to sharpen my wife's kitchen knives, as well as my friends and family! This product is AWESOME!

  • Hello Adam, i live in France, i want to know if the "work sharp" work on 110V or 220V.

I just want to know if i can use it in France ( with outlet adapter ).

    Thank you

  • @benline42 you can buy replacement belts online for like 6-10$

  • i see your in awe and i wish i had one! guess where some of my next pay check is goin? haha

  • I got mine today Adam. And man, you sure were right! This bad boy puts a shaving edge on any knife. I haven't tried it on any tools yet. But I didn't get it for tools anyway. My SOGS and my BK's are so sharp I can't even hand one to a friend who wants to see it without giving them a "be careful" warning first. On my way to do my moms kitchen knives for her. She sure will appreciate THAT! Thanks for the recommendation. You haven't led me astray yet = ) ~Wolf

  • Can it handle super steels like S90V, or mule? Or would the belts not be adequate?

  • how do you take of the serrations of a knife

  • This thing will ruin the temper of your knives in no time.

  • Forget this shit , The Hardeness is afterwards in the ass!

  • Comment removed

  • have you had a chance to sharpen deeply curved blades? id really like to know how it does.

  • cool gonna have to get me one

  • really cool sharpener, i ordered one as soon as i seen your vid now every knife in sight is razor sharp & i'm looking for more knives!!!

  • What do all your buddies say about the patches of missing hair?...LOL.....I think I might have to get one of these....I'm not too good at the sharpening part. Quick and easy..I like it!

  • Hey Adam that looks great I am very interested in taking out the serrations on my BG knife.By the way do you know anything about the new Condor Toloza knife? If so it would be great if you could review it or tell us some more information on it.Thanks in advance.

    -Andy

  • I don't go for mechanical sharpeners typically; rather go the drag-it-along-an-oiled-whetstone approach. Still seems neat though.

  • You seem impressed :) certainly no excuse to keep those knives sharp now!

  • ADAM! u got that old micarta bushlore sittin there.. take the edge to the handle and put a half height convex grind on it!

    Bet itd be a BEAST!

  • damn that's sick

  • after watching i had to go get one works great worth every sent

  • isn't the balde heating up during the sharpening process thus affecting the tempering of the blade?

  • @Mandarinebiene1234 when sharpening a blade on any kind of grinder/sander like this you have to be careful not to let it heat up too much. which is why he is doing it in several passes. you would risk damaging the temper if you constantly were grinding on it and not letting it cool. as long as you are careful though and take your time you should be fine with something like this.

  • lets see a video on axes , hatchet , sharpening

  • Can this thing sharpen S30V?

  • @4570sharps , Yes.

  • Can you slow the speed down on this? I'm thinking that it might heat the blade too much and start to temper the metal soft, particularly at the tip. I imagine it could be fitted fairly easily with an insert behind the belt to stop flexing so it can do scandi edges too.

  • would this work on a rajah ii from cold steel?

  • thanks for the video i must order one and try it

  • i wonder when mr becker is going to fix the sheath of the bk2! I hate to see the edge ruined because the sheath dulls it!

  • do you recommend the bear grylls ultimate knife

  • guess you don't have to buy the wife razors anymore. Thanks for this review... gotta get one now!

  • thanks

  • how well does it work on D2

  • @cooper1768 , Worked well with D2 and VG10!

  • What does or can it do for hatchets and small axes? Could it do anything for a scandi grind?

  • i love my worksharp. i use it without the guides, like a mini belt sander. that way i get more precise edges and have more angle control. plus im less likely to round off tips. also micro mesh makes 1/2" x 12" belts that fit this in a huge variety of grits for only .57 cents a piece.

  • Hey adam long time no speak , i got my esee5 i need your expert advice now :p .. i need an amazing knife sharpener for it can you respond with a reccomendation that is high in cost and works great , and a reccomendation of a sharpener that awsome and good for its price

    Thanks

    Ryan.

  • @Equip2Endure These are on sale for 69.95 on Amazon(dot)com. Also, I think you should do a video on ways to sharpen your knife in the wilderness without something like this. What do you think?

  • Hi Adam,

Doesn't it overheat the blade? You know it could destroy the crystals in the steel.

    Thank you!

  • Great vid adam. i will definetly be getting one, at least after i pay my tuition.

  • Does it only put convex edges on the knives you sharpen?

  • @PittRules55, yes, because the belt is flexing, it not like a flat stone.

    - Adam

  • @Equip2Endure Ok thanks Adam, I wish that you could get an attachment to prevent the belt from flexing so I could sharpen v grind knives as well.

  • @Equip2Endure Is it a slight convex or is it full on?

  • @Equip2Endure Do you want a convex edge on all knives? Like if you have a bunch of hollow ground knives would it be bad to use this sharpener?

  • @billyshob , I like a convex grind, the Winchester Knife was hollow and it did a good job, it's only convexing the secondary bevel.

    - Adam

  • Will they be on sale out of USA in UK format?

  • @38MarcW , I don't know, you may want to email the company about that one.

    - Adam

  • @fire1169101 , yeah I think $69 was the show price, sure you can find a deal out there for one.

    - Adam

  • nice bit of kit.

  • Adam, have you ever cut your self when doing a knife review or test?

  • some people say that if you use an electric sharperner this will heat the edge and make it brittle i can see that this is not going to be a problem with the higher grade paper but is it possible that this is happerning with the 80 grade

  • @benvonwedel , the blade edge never gets hot enough for that to happen, it's not even warm to the touch after sharpening.

  • Hey Adam! Would that be a good enough sharpener to sharpen a CRKT M16-14SFG Tanto style blade? If not what would you recommend for a alternative knife sharpener?

  • @PCTechDude10101 , I have been sharpening everything from pocket knives to machetes!

    - Adam

  • If you see a guy with random bald spots on his arms and legs, you know he's a knife guy.

  • @callorimr , lol, true!

    - Adam

  • @callorimr exactly.

  • Mhh I can't belive that this sparks are a good sine :(. Mayby the Blade get's a heat problem... . just my 50c

    Greets from Germany

    Izulabite

  • @Izulabite , blade is not even warm to the touch after sharpening. Sparks are nothing to be afraid of, I can spark steel with a rock, does not heat up the blade that much.

    - Adam

  • can you do a review on the schrade 171uh? thanks

  • @survivalbrudda , I will place it on the to-do list!

    - Adam

  • Great video, although the comment about the price made me wince.. I've just spent £160 on an Edge Pro Apex.. :D

Adam you should take a closer look at the Becker & kabar Eskabar. Pleeeeaase! ;)

  • @Smith28Adventure , I do have a eskabar that will get a video soon!

    - Adam

  • @Equip2Endure Yes yes yes!! Wow thanks Adam, I can't wait. :D

  • Adam...you are costing me a fortune. I've already dumped the g/f so I have some extra cash. Guess I'll have to cut my payments to the old folks home. Ol Dad never liked it there anyways, and always said he'd rather live in a tent. Or maybe I can drive the dogs out into the country and let them go. Save a fortune on dog food. And I'm a fully equipped camper, so I really don't NEED electricity. Don't worry. I'll come up with the money somehow. You just keep those cool products coming. ~Wolf = )

  • @FatDaddy4Fun , lol, you think I'm costing YOU a fortune, don't you think i'm broke with all these videos, LMAO!

    - Adam

  • Hey Adam...you think that could put an edge on a county comm prybar?

  • @lordmonfort , I have one, I will think about it...

    - Adam

  • I have so many things to sharpen...I needs one!

  • @lordmonfort , you should get one!

    - Adam

  • How about Scandinavian grind

  • @BushingTheLimit yeah i was just about to post the same question! scandi???

  • @BushingTheLimit , you could do it without the guide, may have a slight convex to it though.

    - Adam

  • im SOLD... just need some spare cash.. this is the reason i never spend big money on fixed blades..worried i wont be able to get a good edge on it again.. i have to sit down with my old lansky and go through each grit stone and spend an hour or so to have a sharp knife again...

  • THANK YOU for finally putting a real review up...i think your one of the first and i trust your word and your praise ill definately be picking this thing up cuz although i like traditionally sharpening my knives, im not a person thatll blow off any new techniques (even tho this isnt anything new, just smaller) just cuz i dont wanna progress. if its more efficient in getting my knife sharp and back to work, its something i need to try.

  • That is a lot of steel you are removing from the blade.

  • @NJDevilTactical you know, i just noticed that cuz i wasnt really paying attention to the video lol...yeah even tho its sharp, doesnt mean its the most efficient way of sharpening the knife considering if you take a thick knife and make it razor sharp, its gonna dull and possibly chip a lot faster...not to mention when you see sparks fly its not a good sign haha....but if used properly, it can be a great tool

  • @darkinertia2 , you have a point, but a convex edge is stronger than a V grind. I have chopped and sliced with my knives after sharpening with this tool, and the edge retention is better than before.

    - Adam

  • @NJDevilTactical , less then you may think, I used a marker on the edge so I could see what material was being removed.

    - Adam

  • what type of edge that device is putting on those different knives

  • @ikonik69 , convex,

    - Adam

  • Awesome cheap tool that takes the skill out of sharpening. I must admit though I love the journey I took to learn how to make a knife hair whittling sharp through traditional means. For your average Joe though this is a top tool pick. Nice review too. Thanx.

  • Nice video. One question: do you feel the sharpening system takes off too much metal for regular day-to-day sharpening?

  • @hilldm , I was going crazy with the 80grit, to re-sharpen you just need 2 swipes with the 220, and 10 with the 6000, to get the job done.

    - Adam

  • rotfl@the arms! my girl was laughing and shaking her head at me until i stopped testing my knives on my arms and start using nails and magazine paper :) thanks for the video Adam. great stuff

  • Won't that ruin the tempering? Especially if the knife is differentially heat-treated.

  • @FallacyofMan It has to get pretty damn hot to ruin a heat treat. If you can put your hand on the blade and not get burnt you're pretty much fine.

  • @FallacyofMan , the edge was not even warm to the touch after I was done, I don't think it will get hot enough.

    - Adam

  • Adam, have you ever cut your self when doing a knife review or test?

  • @metsfan12110 , YES and YES! LOL

    - Adam

  • Probably should invest in one considering I cant sharpen a knife to save my life

  • Ha ha no more hair on forearms!!

  • @WYheard , Yes, I feel like a Jack Wagon, the thing I do for my Subscribers!

    - Adam

  • Cool stuff! Just a tip I read over at blade forums. Don't actually start the belt until the blade is already in. Some people have messed up some blades pretty bad by keeping it running.

  • @heiheit , good tip!

    - Adam

  • What is the availability of the belts?

  • @Livingnthewoods41 , buy them from the website, $10 bucks a set!

    - Adam

  • does it take off more metal than a standard sharpening method (i.e., stone or Spyderco Triangle)?

  • @EnduringEagle Well if you go with a fresh 80 grit belt i'm sure it'll take off more metal than a Spyderco sharpmaker. However, the grit on the paper will eventually wear out.

  • @EnduringEagle , I think its about the same, it does convex the edge though, so you will take off metal when you first use it.

    - Adam

  • Have you reviewed the Moccasin Ranger yet? And I'm still waiting on the ESEE-4 review! You're killing me here!

  • might as well shave your legs.

  • What about the heat from the friction ruining the temper of the steel? I've read on several manufacturer's site that you should never use a belt sander. Does this risk weakening the edge?

  • @roessletb , it does not get hot enough to damage the edge, cool to the touch.

    - Adam

  • nice, i gotta get me one of those!!!!

  • i have this and i think it does a great job! thanks for the review!

  • I want one.... :D

  • i have a knife design how should i make it or manufacture it,, do i send it to a company... i have the blue prints already..

  • @THElasvegasHUNTER become a custom knife maker. Paten your stuff then sell the design to a company.

  • @thenextarcher thx..
