YZoo..Several Bands in 67 and 68 inserted a batch of music / noise in songs. Usually 16 to 32 bars of this music noise starting low on a scale and culminating note wise high. Why? The Beatles did it on Sgt. Pepper. The middle section of "A Day in the Life." Everybody thought it was cool. So...many groups had their own version of that ascending music noise on one of their songs. The reason The Beatles did it? George Martin was covering up a tape splice from Lennon's part to McCartney's part.

I had a girlfriend in high school in 1967 and during a rough period the Buckingham's Don't You Care was on the charts. It seemed to capture how we felt at the time. this song was their next hit and it also resonated because...her name was Susan. these songs always conjure up wonderful memories.

This is awesome! I haven't heard this song in so many years, and believe it or not, forgot what the name of it was and never knew who did it. They just don't play it on the radio---ever. I came across this by accident and was so glad to find it, and absolutely LOVED the video you made! Cool video and a great song. You can probably blame the Beatles for the psychodelic stuff in the song. It was the sixties after all. If anyone is interested, the Buckinghams creator? producer? (my memory is not quite what is was) was James William Guercio (pardon the spelling) later to achieve the real big time sucess with Chicago. Those of you music fiends like I was once might have noticed the horns in The Buckinghams songs.

Am I the only guy who admits to loving the psychedelic part in the middle-I think it adds to the song, though most may not. But that was the times, and I loved it. I think the ending of the various vocal parts is fantastic, plus I always liked their drummer.

They only had a few years run, but their pop songs hold up very well, this one included.

I just love this song, their last big hit from January 1968. It peaked nationally at #11. I remember one day in March or April of '68, riding in the back seat of my parents' '64 Pontiac, with my brother driving and my dad sitting in the front passengers' seat. My brother cranked the song up, but when it got to the "psychodelic nightmare" part in the middle, my dad just shook his head and said "what the hell!" Haha!
