Just like landmines, locals were common victims of these traps. They won't tell you this in the video. ... Contemptible that ANYone would celebrate such traps. The most dangerous areas often weren't even occupied by western soldiers. From Wiki, the US-allied participants in Vietnam War: ~1,830,000 (1968 [height of war]) South Vietnam: 850,000 United States: 536,100 Free World Military Forces: 65,000 Republic of Korea: 50,000 Australia: 7,672 Thailand, Philippines: 10,450 New Zealand: 552
@MrBoy219 million Vietnameses were burnt with napalm, infected with agent orange, shot down by Americans in this war and now there are ppl talking like American is the victim. This is the disgrace to anyone who satisfied themselves in that meaningless war
@thesunalwayrises meaningless MEANINGLESS! you call millions of usa soldiers a disgrace and millions of vietnamese civilians murdered with us troops and vietnam troops meaningless who the fuck do you think you are if you call our troops and vietnamese troops meaningless than you can just leave if you dont like our army you are just hippies just begging for different countries to take over ours
no VNmese wanna kill pp. they did that just for survive, just for peace, for everything they have. they didn't come to US and say: hello, we come here to kill US pp. or something like that.
@bluesanavrin Obviously nobody wishes to kill intentionally. The US were in Vietnam for one sole reason - to halt the spread of corrupt communism. Ask any boat people refugee and they will tell you exactly why the US came to their defense. My father was a refugee, so before you post ignorant shit, learn a few facts.
@kinpuma : ok, history is my major. I'm sure that I know about VN war more than u..so I don't want talk with bitches -like u. and yea, u should stop post ignorant shittt!! =))
@bluesanavrin Hahahaha du ma thang "Bac Ho". Killing and imprisoning his own people. The Vietnamese communist government is a joke. Since you're a history major, you should know that communism = equality. Is that true in Vietnam today? I didn't think so; smarten up.
@kinpuma you just a kid :)). u don't know anything about Bac Ho, and u know how to say it right. u made wrong sentences, that's a terrible mistake. so shut up kid.
@bluesanavrin I just read your previous posts with Kinpuma and I must say that I even regret typing out as much as I did. You are clearly one of the most insanely moronic people to have ever crawled upon the Internet. Holy fucking shit, how do you even find the power button on your computer?
@kinpuma You are misguided and still believe the myth the US government spread in the late 60's and 70's. We werent there to protect the real Vietnamese, only our puppet government we supported to create such a facade. In reality there was no North or South, that was an exploitation of the temporary military demarcation line that was set by the Geneva Accord only until the French can pull out. The US was fighting the whole country. We invaded them for our economic needs.
@kinpuma Correction; we didnt create the puppet governent, that was created by the French during their occupation, but the US exploited that as well and we filled the role that the French left behind; an occupire.
@bluesanavrin The US did not go to Vietnam for the Vietnamese. Their fate was auxiliary - the US fought an ideological war with the Soviet Union. The VN conflict was a battle, which the US lost. To the Vietnamese People, it was obviously more important than than. American historians say it like this: ideology, honor and pride kept the US from withdrawing. Distance, distraction and the Viet Cong's determination made victory impossible.
Honestly, the topic is too complex and important for a post
@bluesanavrin In any case, if you are in any way implying that America had anything to do with the start of the war then you are either stupid or simply uninformed. Your horrible grammar could imply both. They just tried to support the underdogs in the war who were being massacred like dogs, in turn they ended up in one hell of a nasty mess. I am not American nor do I support their military actions. But your accusations are dumb, uneducated, and extremely poorly written.
@bluesanavrin Something about a conflict between the south and the west and America supporting one of the two sides. Mostly America was just playing heroes until the war got way out of their hands and they had to pull out because their losses had many times topped what it was worth to them to continue the war in the first place. The Vietnamese committed horrible despicable crimes towards each other that shocked and scarred the American soldiers (Who didn't die) for life.
@bluesanavrin Well actually, it wasn't America that invaded, it was France. The french contacted Eissenhower via NATO to ask for help to prevent the spread of communism to the French territory. Im not saying i agree with it, but do your research before you try to pawn the war off on america.
@WangkorWat Listen here fuckface, i had 2 great uncles die in vietnam and one barely made it out. I've heard their stories and i don't appreciate your disrespect.
@jmania21 Shouldnt have been there then killer the Viets had every right to defend themselves ,how many innocent viets did they murder before they were taken out ?
@bluesanavrin We went there to prevent the most dangerous idealogy ever from spreading. Communism killed more people than Nazism ( although they are almost the same thing).
That's pretty disgusting! I guess these were made to be so disgusting that the soldiers would just go back home. It seems like a hell on earth, what a horrible place to be.. I wonder how many animals set off these traps and suffered slow painfull deaths..?
@orientmalik They aren't learning anything. If the Vietnam war wasn't more than an excellent lesson, then Afghanistan and Iraq won't be of any use but killing even more innocent people for (excuse the language) pure bullshit.
R.I.P to all the soldiers who fought in Vietnam, including the Vietcong soldiers. They shouldnt be judged as a bad people, they were trying to defend their country from what they meant was invaders and you cant say they was right or wrong, in war everything changes.
@el11zeppelin yea at least we didnt take prisoners and put them in little bamboo cages left to starve and be tortured soooo you tell me who the real badguys are here
@xbltzkriegx the US started a war based on the fear on "domino theory". After destroying countless lives, including those of the American troops, they "lost" the war, with the south falling to communism. Domino theory did not prove a reality. Take a history lesson.
@xbltzkriegx We were the badguys because we invaded THEIR country for no reason beside to test new weapons really. And BTW i am an American and my Uncle took two AK-47 rounds in his leg and i am proud of him for what he did in that country him and his buddies probably never heard of before 1963.
@xbltzkriegx that's next to nothing compared to the weapons (Agent Orange for example) the US used. And it's not as if the US army didn't torture anyone.
@P0oDoll whos friggin side are you on?? dude if ur even close to american youd understand why considering they were 16-18 year old boys sent out of high school to vietnam to get shot, killed, and tortured...
@xbltzkriegx I'm on the side of all the innocent victims, though I don't see how the h-e-doublehockeysticks that has a significant relation to what I said. The things the US Army has done has had (and still has!) way more impact and brought more pain and sadness to INNOCENT people. I feel bad for them as much as for the innocent Vietnamese.
@xbltzkriegx But if we're going to talk purely about the things both sides used, the US Army had wayy more destructive means and at least they were SOLDIERS regardless of age. Not people either practically forced to trying to protect themselves. And more innocent people have died on the Viet side since the war was on their grounds. Still I feel bad for the ones who had to go fight, because in my opinion they're innocent victims too.
@P0oDoll dude they were drafted....they were forced to fight! forced to fight a damn war that was never ever our to win or fight! so they were all innocent im in the 101st airborn currently and ive been on a 1 month deploment into afghanistan and most of the fighting is over but the firefights i did get into were scary as hell but it sucks being the corperal cuz u gotta keep everyone under control while the sgt figures out a plan....
Man that is some fucked up ways to die. Those traps were brilliant and deadly yet simple. I think the war was pointless but I give credit to both the U.S and NVA and Vietcong. We kicked the shit out of each other. And as an American I believe that the Vietcong and NVA was the most dangerous and worthy enemy the U.S has ever known.
Imagine what kind of hell this was for the soldiers.. jesus christ. Imagine how you HAVE to expect that there is always someone waiting for you to slit your throat.
I was there and saw that! Same guide too! Later on that little forrest "tour" you could fire AK47 and M16, it was pretty nice :D, I still dont like to get reminded by thouse traps though...
well shit happend if you try to invade other peoples countries. the vietnamese and americans are same much victim of this bs. the ones responsible were in washington ds and moscow. the vietnamese just got caught in the middle after fighting the japanese in ww2 and french in the 50s. they are some brave and corageous tough little people
@HIimjohnnyknoxville1 - haven't you just exactly detailed why those who fought them will indeed go to hell for ever, by making a fucktarded liar evil comment like that. Yes, you have. I think that might be what the guy posting that here meant & not that conscription is easy to get out of. Jackass fucktard.
@TheRandomdickhead you know what I don't fucking care, the fact is that USA is the only country invading other countries after WW2,and the history will be the judge who was right, not your fucking cnn or your fucking human right organizations.... ;)
@TheRandomdickhead the last time I checked USA has professional army, that means that you have to volunteer to get in to army,so that 18yo kid, wasn't forced to go and kill people in Vietnam, and don't sell that cnn crap on youtube, that USA is fighting for world democracy and peace, that may fool only americans, the truth is that USA is the second nazi germany attacking country after country without being directly or indirectly threatened, and the more USA soldiers dead, the better...
It was a war they shouldn't have got involved in. I don't think you can blame (most of) the soldiers though. They were conscripted and most didn't want to be there.
You can't ignore the crimes some did commit though e.g. My Lai massacre. Blame the American Government too for using such terrible things as Agent Orange.

Listen ragers, maybe we shoulda been there maybe not. Bottom line is alot of good men and women did what they thought was right by serving there country. People come from all different walks of life and outlooks on life. Who are you or i to say hey your wrong! Look around the us closely sometime and realize everything you have that's available to you now is because someone paid a price to keep that available to you and american citizens! Yeah wake up !
@7colfax cowards?? I beg to differ. Cowards throw stones (bombs) from afar in the saftey of there own home. These men were protecting what is rightfully theirs. I respect that ten times more than I do the north americans. Their tactics are genuine. Man to man fight?? wake up!!!
@7colfax Actually they used traps because the wanted to kill as many people (that were intruding for over a thousand years) as possible, all they wanted independence from other nations who had absolutely no business being there including the Chinese, Japanese and French. The only reason any Americans like us were even around one of these traps was because of the U.S.'s fear of communism, which was totally pointless, I mean who cares how people want to live. What are you 15 take a history class.
@FerretsForMe123 fear of communism was pointless ? Who cares ? you sir should take an history class to. Sure it's not a reason to evade a country but communism was a big threat to capitalism. Capitalism can't fully work if it cohabitates with communism. Violence should never be the solution but it's violence that made your life wealthy as it is right now
@FerretsForMe123 only reason american people of that time were afraid of communism was because they were afraid they would mass up together and take over little countries until eventually they just took over the world. which was pretty far fetched.
@MrPointforward You are right, it is amazing what they did against both countries. However, it was actually THEY that outnumbered the US, not the other way around. The VC had around 1.5-2m estimated soldiers/armed civilians, while at its peak the US never had more than 450 thousand in Vietnam at any one time.
Its ok to be shown round by a guide as a tourist - it must have been absolute hell for the US soldier. RIP to all those brave men sent to the battleground who either came home disabled in mind or body, or who did not come home at all. RIP.
@trulylovelylady Let's not overcredit the oppressors too much, the Vietcong.. the people who were actually fighting for Freedom and not your 'Freedom' also deserve respect. They had no Medic's or Huey's once they were down they were down for good. Death or Victory.
@nukeusa911x2 US Soldier's unfortunate enough to be at the business end of these traps don't need to blame the Vietcong for creating them, they need to blame their own government.
and rip to all the vietnamese who had to die in the hell of napalm, the hale of bullets, the toxic,...
governtments of the world, let this people live, stop making war, especially if it is mostly to activate ur economy or lead the peoples mind away from problems in ur own country!
@trulylovelylady: both sides have done horrible thing. The US carriers dropped tons of bomb plus napalm plus dioxin. The result was far more worse than those horror-looking traps, it kills generations not just people.
@trulylovelylady It was hell for the Viet cong soldier too, imagine having your homeland invaded and destroyed. But at least the Viet Cong had a choice to join the army.
@trulylovelylady I AGREE!!! One of my freinds got injured by a mine booby trap, he says he took another step----then woke up in Japan. It grieves me to hear what so many people think of them as evil, dirty, cruel, cowardly, murderous, monsters, it's just aweful to me. They were doing their duty...
@trulylovelylady every country makes these kind of videos if anything it is helpful to the next generation learn from the past and maybe live a day longer
@orangesugarcube I live in czech republic before 20 years before i was born communists arrestet all ww2 pilots fights allies it was czechs pilots in britain but communist says they was on west they are traitors.
so let me get this straight, the NVA were communist soldiers under the rule of Ho Chi Mihn and the Viet Cong were just a large guerilla force but still communist?
@samuriguy909 NVA were a professional army and used conventional tactics. Mostly stationed in the North.
The Viet Cong were a guerilla army consisting of mostly conscripts and sometimes locales. They were always constantly on the move (Unless you count Cu Chi tunnels as a stationary base). They attacked South Vietnam using the Ho Chi Minh Trail from Laos and Cambodia.
I know how alot of people like to bash the US for getting involved in the vietnam war, but I don't see anyone bashing the viet cong for designing these sick traps. What sick fucks they were.
@95civex will lose in afghanistan? we drove out the taliban, and a lot of al queda. We've made progress and gotten rid of oppressive regimes like the taliban and sadamm. we have a goal in the middle east, to spread freedom, remove oppression, and kick the asses of the ones who brought down our world trade centers. And, don't say how much good its done in a sarcastic manner, because last I checked, since we went to war there hasn't been a successful attack on US soil.
@95civex I never said we've achieved all of them. We're working towards them. And even if we have achieved all of them we can't just hang the Afghan people out to dry, theres a rebuilding effort. I'm fully aware that Afghanistan has now a fully functional government (to their standards), but you still have to support their young democracy. It would be like if we just left Berlin right after WWII, you can't just do that. Even though our main goal there was to stop the Iron Curtain of Communism.
@AlienFirefox Allies like Australia!?!?! You guys had 500 combat troops there... we must've just pinned our hopes on you! And we failed to bring down anyone responsible? We got Khalid Sheikh Mohammed who planned the entire thing. We also didn't fail in Iraq. We got Saddam and restored the nation to a great democracy in the Middle East. We might not have gotten the WMBs but even though we didn't, Saddam still had the capacity to make them, and the world is safer without him. Don't be a dumbass.
@AlienFirefox And not to undermine the sacrifices that Australia made. I appreciate it. Every bit of help did something. But don't say we relied on our allies to get us out of shit. We all went in together.

well shit happend if you try to invade other peoples countries. the vietnamese and americans are same much victim of this bs. the ones responsible were in washington ds and moscow. the vietnamese just got caught in the middle after fighting the japanese in ww2 and french in the 50s. they are some brave and corageous tough little people

@TheRandomdickhead you know what I don't fucking care, the fact is that USA is the only country invading other countries after WW2,and the history will be the judge who was right, not your fucking cnn or your fucking human right organizations.... ;)
Cartmanvb 7 months ago
@TheRandomdickhead the last time I checked USA has professional army, that means that you have to volunteer to get in to army,so that 18yo kid, wasn't forced to go and kill people in Vietnam, and don't sell that cnn crap on youtube, that USA is fighting for world democracy and peace, that may fool only americans, the truth is that USA is the second nazi germany attacking country after country without being directly or indirectly threatened, and the more USA soldiers dead, the better...
Cartmanvb 7 months ago

Man to man fight?? wake up!!!

@7colfax dude fuck u and i 'm viet and they weren't cowards its because VC use Gurilla warfare(conseving ammo)
94yoyo 8 months ago
@7colfax Actually they used traps because the wanted to kill as many people (that were intruding for over a thousand years) as possible, all they wanted independence from other nations who had absolutely no business being there including the Chinese, Japanese and French. The only reason any Americans like us were even around one of these traps was because of the U.S.'s fear of communism, which was totally pointless, I mean who cares how people want to live. What are you 15 take a history class.
FerretsForMe123 8 months ago 23
@FerretsForMe123 fear of communism was pointless ? Who cares ? you sir should take an history class to. Sure it's not a reason to evade a country but communism was a big threat to capitalism. Capitalism can't fully work if it cohabitates with communism. Violence should never be the solution but it's violence that made your life wealthy as it is right now
HEYYYYDUDE 8 months ago
@FerretsForMe123 Well written Ferrets.
ckolonko 7 months ago
@FerretsForMe123 only reason american people of that time were afraid of communism was because they were afraid they would mass up together and take over little countries until eventually they just took over the world. which was pretty far fetched.

@MrPointforward You are right, it is amazing what they did against both countries. However, it was actually THEY that outnumbered the US, not the other way around. The VC had around 1.5-2m estimated soldiers/armed civilians, while at its peak the US never had more than 450 thousand in Vietnam at any one time.

@trulylovelylady Let's not overcredit the oppressors too much, the Vietcong.. the people who were actually fighting for Freedom and not your 'Freedom' also deserve respect. They had no Medic's or Huey's once they were down they were down for good. Death or Victory.

so let me get this straight, the NVA were communist soldiers under the rule of Ho Chi Mihn and the Viet Cong were just a large guerilla force but still communist?
samuriguy909 11 months ago
@samuriguy909 NVA were a professional army and used conventional tactics. Mostly stationed in the North.
The Viet Cong were a guerilla army consisting of mostly conscripts and sometimes locales. They were always constantly on the move (Unless you count Cu Chi tunnels as a stationary base). They attacked South Vietnam using the Ho Chi Minh Trail from Laos and Cambodia.

it is impossible to win a war that lacks a militarily achievable goal. that is why we lost in vietnam and that is why we will lose in afghanistan.
95civex 1 year ago
@95civex will lose in afghanistan? we drove out the taliban, and a lot of al queda. We've made progress and gotten rid of oppressive regimes like the taliban and sadamm. we have a goal in the middle east, to spread freedom, remove oppression, and kick the asses of the ones who brought down our world trade centers. And, don't say how much good its done in a sarcastic manner, because last I checked, since we went to war there hasn't been a successful attack on US soil.
MrFlightSimVidz 1 year ago
@MrFlightSimVidz if we have achieved all of that then why are we still there?
95civex 1 year ago
@95civex I never said we've achieved all of them. We're working towards them. And even if we have achieved all of them we can't just hang the Afghan people out to dry, theres a rebuilding effort. I'm fully aware that Afghanistan has now a fully functional government (to their standards), but you still have to support their young democracy. It would be like if we just left Berlin right after WWII, you can't just do that. Even though our main goal there was to stop the Iron Curtain of Communism.
MrFlightSimVidz 1 year ago
@MrFlightSimVidz
america failed to bring down anyone responsible for the world trade centres mate
america failed terribly in iraq and will in afghanistan
its seems america once again is relying on its allies like australia and britain to get them out of the shit
AlienFirefox 1 year ago
@AlienFirefox Allies like Australia!?!?! You guys had 500 combat troops there... we must've just pinned our hopes on you! And we failed to bring down anyone responsible? We got Khalid Sheikh Mohammed who planned the entire thing. We also didn't fail in Iraq. We got Saddam and restored the nation to a great democracy in the Middle East. We might not have gotten the WMBs but even though we didn't, Saddam still had the capacity to make them, and the world is safer without him. Don't be a dumbass.
MrFlightSimVidz 1 year ago
@MrFlightSimVidz
IM TALKING ABOUT IN IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN THE YANKS ARE LOSING TERRIBLY AND ARE RELYING TO MUCH ON THERE ALLIES
in korea it was the australians and canadians battle of kapyong the americans ran off only the aussies and canucks held there positions.
in vietnam long tan and our sasr made extremely impressive achievements.
AlienFirefox 1 year ago
@AlienFirefox And not to undermine the sacrifices that Australia made. I appreciate it. Every bit of help did something. But don't say we relied on our allies to get us out of shit. We all went in together.
