  • I wish I could speed up the video 2x. He would then be speaking at a normal rate.

  • This man is a genius, and an example of success after a difficult childhood. I get inspired to keep going and reach my goals in life. Thank you Jeff! Waiting not so patiently for my end of the year bonus to get my Kindle Fire. Congratulations to Amazon!

  • Yea I watched it half way through. Maybe I'll come back but it didn't have that much energy. I love Jeff and he is doing great being an awesome guy, but I hope he will get even better over time.

  • Wait, so this *isn't* an Apple event?

  • What about the battery? 4 hours, 7hours or 12hours?

I know some engineers in Germany developing these days a battery, running longtime 50 hours and full charging in 3 minutes. When it is ready, this mobile device become an option to me.

  • I guess they finally satisfied those junkies (non-readers) that rant against how the kindle needed touch and color: well here you go. I'm getting black and white 3g touch, books are better than games,tv,movies, music, and web-browsing combined. (plus the kindle fire's battery life sucks-just saying)

    *plus eyestrain,cough.

    Kindle Touch 3g FTW!!!

  • Why is speaking like he is mad or sad? D:

    He should really cheer up.

  • Jeff i.e. Speaker is a hilarious sometimes, he's laughs can wake up the dead.

  • this guy is trying to be like steve jobs

  • AMAZON: Explain to me why you rely so heavily on cloud based services if you don't provide the option of 3G?? It's great that your moving towards cloud computing, but WHY only wi-fi?? It makes no sense whatsoever...

  • @oberning1 so you're saying you want to pay monthly just to use 3G? you need a carrier to do that, make sense now?

  • @syafiqyazid Amazon has a service called free 3g, Its a one time fee, not annual, not monthly, Just add 50$ to your kindle (EX: Kindle touch 99$, Kindle touch + 3g 149$) So he was asking why free 3g wasn't on the fire

  • @JohnTheChannel ohh, i thought you needed a carrier, like the iPad 2 (3G version). has both verizon and at&t carriers.

  • @syafiqyazid Yes... if all of my stuff is located in the cloud and I wanted to access a movie or a song, I would have to be in a FREE wifi area (emphasis on the free, cause I don't want to pay for it). So I would have to wait to watch a movie or listen to music. They should have done what the iPad did and gave the option for 3G capability. Make sense now?

  • lol he just spoiled a character's bio on stage. :P

  • @ChuckNoarus :)

  • he is trying to copy steve jobs when he is on stage..he is such a failure at it..but i still love amazon..im gonna buy the $79 right now :)

  • @J081K what other way can he really give a presentation?

  • @ToniSkit well ur right, no one can really beat steve jobs at his presentations. Jeff could at least be a bit more different, most of the things he said reminded me of steve jobs

  • What is with Bezos' speaking rhythm. He sounds like he needs a hit off his inhaler.

  • my library in bartlett does that

  • I like that Voltaire quotation near the end of the video.

  • I can't wait to grab a Fire, i love Amazon, always did.

  • except you have to pay to use the 3g when you download things ... i understand paying for the book but dont market a free service if at the end of the day you are paying for that data in an indirect way...i love kindle btw

  • Is reading the books on Kindle Fire experience as first generation Kindles as far as no glare?

  • @michaelermcgowaniv

    It's backlit, not e-ink

  • @BubbaCoop Yeah but the glass invery reflective in the demos that I have seen.

  • @michaelermcgowaniv

I don't know why anyone would want to read an entire book on any backlit screen.

  • that crowd sucks. instead of claps all you hear are the cameras trying to get the first shot.

  • @dominicanodeDios It's a press conference, not a music performance or something

  • its a press conference trying to show off what they got worthy of applause.

  • Apple: "here's our new magic mouse"

    Audience: "woooooo!!!!"

Amazon: "here's our amazing new tablet"

    Audience: *silence*

    amazon deserve better!

  • @iRibz

    Dumbstruck may be

  • @iRibz apple only invites fanboys from press, amazon invited homepages/magazines who send whoever they wanted ;)

  • @gonijanturtles ????

did u just compare like over 50million ppl to nazi who killed over 8million jews and were the fundamental cause of the worst war of our history.

clearly you are hater kid and unless you can make a valid point then....SHUT THE fuck up :)

  • AMAZON RULES !!!

    APPLE IS FOR FOOLS !!!

  • @gonijanturtles did u just call apple fanboys "Nazi"??...u must be outta ur mind. I know android devices are awesome but u shud give apple some credit... they revolutionized the digital world.!! We all used to luv apple b4 d advent of android.. Just remember iOS came first... Android took a lot ideas from apple's ipod os.

Why do u hate apple now...just bcoz android is doing great in d market... u all bcame apple haters?? whom did u admire before android??

  • @sexmagnet1231 each of his 'pauses' seem to allow the photographers to take pictures rather than milk the audience for faux-applause.

  • WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • This video is terrible quality! But the tablet is awesome!

  • Bezos is one of the great innovators of our time.

  • "Let the ferver begin" dead silent.

  • Hes Lex Luthor!

  • He should have worn a turtle neck and appear in Apple keynote. then cheers will BLAST.

  • It's not i-pad's copy, it's the best device to utilize Amazon's service.

Go back to lick apple if you just want to compare the specification.

  • What a miserable audience!!!

  • Stop trying to copy Apple. You're not and never will be Steve Jobs and what's with all the quotes?? It's like you're trying to justify how good you are in the eyes of others.

Just goes to show how good and slick Apple are.

  • All I can say is WOW! This video really opened my eyes to EVERYTHING Amazon has it's hands in. They're trying to take the next giant leap - connect everything!

  • Part of the quiet is probably because A) this was done in a more professional manner then the rah-rah that the Apple press conferences are known for and B) alot of this was already leaked to the media before it was presented

  • But very good slide deck though

  • Why is he obsessed with quotes. He just reads out word by word. Time wasted. Talk about the product instead

  • Was this presentation made to bunch of corpses!

  • Brilliant products, boring as hell presentation.

  • There is no applause and cheering because this is a presentation, not a stage managed Nuremberg style rally with monitored employees and sycophantic isheep.

The Kindle Touch looks like a good product, not sure on the Fire.

  • No "Boom" / cheering / laughs ? Boring 51 minutes of presentation... he doesn't connect to the audience. It's almost like you can hear a fly buzzing by. But... great products.

  • Exciting products made boring. At least hire someone to be excited, Amazon.

  • Summary: There is no applause cause they didn't cheat with a "room warmer", a paid guy who "whoos" & applauses at the right moment (hell of a job) AND because people are not use to other than Apple keynotes.

Anyway this is GREAT JOB Amazon.

Not for me thought, the Kindle feels still old technology (colorless e-ink is not good for magazines or art), the Kindle Fire is not an E-Read but a cheap tablet with a screen to small and a thick body.

We can now thank Touchpads and wait for the iPad 3

  • Amazon at least should have had some shills to applaud when the price announcements were made. Jeff bezos needs to work on how to talk to a crowd. Kindle Fire is iPad lite. Just a media client. With an iPad you get a lot more to work with for just that much more money. The Kindle touch/kindle are dedicated and seem much better.

  • Kindle is worth. Dot.

  • They are so quiet because it's hard to clap while your asleep.

  • interesting to contrast Amazon and Facebook doing presentations in the calm, stripped down style of Steve Jobs, with Microsoft who still does big giant stage productions.

  • 360p video, seriously?

  • @DevilsRejection Yeah, right? Bad quality youtube video in 2011 for such a presentation? Come on

  • @DevilsRejection you know full hd 1080p is about 30g 1 hour.. Youtube sucks and you cant do that. But 720 p is about 11 g

  • When Kindle Fire will be available in Japan?

  • Comment removed

  • this audience suck, he could have said "FREE KINDLES FOR ALL!" and still no reaction

  • "to be able to increase the text size on the kindle has been phenomenal to me" wow dude... don't you have an exciting life?

  • damn! he's good! now i want one lol!

  • It's a nice presentation. I have a Kindle 3rd gen, and I didn't know some of this things about it before this. However, this guy paces too much, makes it hard to concentrate on half of what he's saying. I mean, really, he paces twice during a single sentence.

  • Comment removed

  • lol i feel like a child being lectured on the sinister nature of my mischief when listening to this guy

  • It's really bugging me how lame this audience is. APPLAUD!

  • @Aquillyne The presenter is lame… So boring.

  • @Aquillyne Nothing to applaud, they were expecting an I-Pad killer, they were not impressed

  • such a lame audience -.-

  • Why is the crowd not applauding?

  • Although I admire his innovation, Jeff Bezos is not a good speaker!

  • Is This guy a robot?

  • That was soooo eerie not hearing applause until the very end. Great new products, though!

  • He really does suck at this, they have badly tried to mimic apples marketing style and i don't like it. Amazon is huge! they need to be original and creative as their idea's to reel us in. This crowd is not engaging at all either which makes this boring.

  • @Viper4ever05 Keep in mind most Apple presentations you've seen were given at tech conferences with Apple and/or technology aficionados. The audience at this conference are media journalists. Different audiences, different reactions.

  • @Viper4ever05 Totally agree, watch this compared to the iPhone reveal keynote and you can see from the way he talks and how he presents he is trying to copy steve jobs but he fails pretty much from the start and takes way to long with his pauses after few words he says.

  • Everyone is so interested in presentation, you all seem to have missed the revolutionary product and SERVICE that's being introduced.

  • This guy has as much charisma as a fish!

  • Jobs is the man. He is the only salesman I can completely trust. The price is right!

  • Bezos is the new Jobs.

  • Could this guy speak a bit faster - this is really dragging.

  • Are they going to sell many millions of these?

  • KEVIN ROSE CAME UP WITH X-RAY! No credit to him, eh Amazon?

  • Why on earth was the crowd not applauding for all these new toys? I'm shocked! Super cool! I'm heading over to see if we can pre-order the Kindle Fire.

  • @WendyMerritt I KNOW!! it is like there is a claps prohibited rule!

  • @WendyMerritt I was thinking exactly the same.

Maybe they told them not to cheer or something.

  • This is a tablet that I may consider purchasing. I don't want a tablet that is a mini version of the PC that costs as much as a PC. I just want a device so I can watch movies, play music, read book, browse the web, and check for email. Almost every smart phone do that now but you have to pay to the nose each month for that service. The Amazon Fire bundles all these conveniences into a one time purchase, provided that I pay for Amazon Prime though.

  • It will remain to be seen if this can become an iPad killer or not, but it will certainly give Apple what they've sorely needed for a very long time .... real competition. The Kindle Fire has the potential to be one of , if not the most, successful Android tablet ever released. At $199 its priced far below the price of the iPad. Coupled with Amazon's many services it gives people a huge incentive to buy, Apple is going to have one hell of a fight on their hands this Christmas.

  • everyone's saying there's a youtube size limit but i've seen hour long videos with 720p on here...

  • @lunarbeans there are 2 hour videos in 1080p

  • even though my dad has an ipad, i'm getting a kindle fire

  • He's no Bill gates . Very dyr and boring .

  • They went overboard with the quotes

  • nerves anybody?

  • Why is the quality of this video so poor?

  • being used to apple keynotes, this is soo weird hearning no cheers :L

  • @jimmyhellyeah123 I know right. if steve jobs did it cheers would be going off the boards right now. lol

  • @jimmyhellyeah123

I think the Apple audience will applause if Steve Job cough. Job is preaching to the choir. Bezos is selling a product that is an extension of the Kindle, in as matter of fact fashion as Bezos is known for.

  • @jimmyhellyeah123

Reason? Amazon isn´t a sect, like Appleogy

  • @jimmyhellyeah123 That's because I'm guessing its not fans at the conference but rather journalists.

  • Decent presentation... Dead crowd though...

  • Decent presentation... Dead crowd though...

  • does he have Parkinson's? he looks like has early signs of it. I'm not saying he's bad at keynoting, steadily improved as the new products rolled out--but i'm serious about the parkinsons'. reminds me of micheal j fox. (very minor tics i noticed)

  • I guess Jeff decided to copy Steve's presentation style, real original. Is the audience mute or are they to busy checking there email on their iPad? I don't understand the selling point of the kindle was it's liquid paper screen. Now it's like an iPad with a smaller screen and smaller hard drive and processor.

  • @thechris410 Except iPad doesn't use a hard drive, numbnuts. Some people want a smaller tablet. Not only is it smaller, but the resolution is higher, which means it has windensities. Oh, and price, massive difference. Its priced correctly.

  • The product looks good but Jeff is no Steve Jobs, that's for sure. Somewhat poor delivery timing, virtually no humour, and an overall boring tempo.

  • The product looks good but Jeff is no Steve Jobs, that's for sure. Somewhat poor delivery timing, virtually no humour, and an overall boring tempo.

  • I'd totally get the fire if i didnt have an ipad

  • the crowd is fighting with their keyboards :D

  • And with all this advancement, the kindle (as much as I love it) *still* can't do simple fully justified hyphenation. We're setting back the advancement in typesetting for hundreds of years. Apps like Stanza do fully justified hyphenation, why don't the kindle? Instead we're left with ugly whitespace gaps.

  • @eydaimon what? Sounds like white people problems. Someday the Kindle will solve world hunger, and you'll be still pissed at your lack of fully justified hyphenation.

  • @eydaimon Wow. You're a little behind on the times. Amazon has a fully justified reason to not have fully justified hyphenation on the Kindle. Not sure if you are aware, but the Kindle is run on many devices like smartphones, iPads, etc and each screen is a different size therefore having fully justified hyphenation may work on a specific size of Kindle, but would leave words hyphenated unjustifiably for other devices. You wouldn't want unjustified hyphenation would you?

  • @supersonicfirefan123 the hyphenation happens automatically. Try Stanza, on your computer, resize at your hearts content, and watch the hyphenation work accordingly. There's no problem across devices, or even on the same device when changing fonts and orientation.

  • @eydaimon That would send typesetting back a few more years than just having ugly white-space gaps. Maybe we can stop worrying so much about the little things, hm? I mean the fact that you can read a book digitally is amazing enough. Why do we have to be so spoiled and kick and scream and bemoan the little tiny things that won't matter at all in the grand scheme of life? Pick your chin up and calm down.

  • Terrible crowd... Damn! Such a great presentation! Maybe they're zombies....

  • let me stand next to your fire

  • Dear Santa...

  • This is pretty awesome. Amazon's pretty much the only company that could make me consider anything other than an iPad/iPhone. My Kindle is probably the best thing I've bought this year.

  • No Appalause

  • The guys sad, I feel bad! A

  • kindle sell internationally so much because you can read pirated books on it, simple as that. Not everybody can pay 5-10$ for a book which is cow shit in the first place.

  • wow.. amazingly quiet.. Dead crowd? Robots? why no applause?

  • I'm interesting in the Free 3G kindle book

  • great stuff, but he's such a Steve Jobs-wannabe.

  • I think they are making great products too

  • Same feeling, why no applause? I thim

  • ... I thought I'm in library ... so quiet ... is there any audience?

  • Although I don't believe this is direct competition with the iPad.

For the price and what it does it will chop into iPad sales. I mean $199 its not fair for us in the UK

  • วู๊ฮุ้ขอตังแม่ซื้อดีกว่า

  • dead crowd. I feel bad about the guy..

  • It's good to offer affordable different devices but it's quite confusing for non-technical people. As for me, I'd recommend the kindle touch 3G for everyday book readers

  • 360p?

  • yay :D

  • ladies and gentlemen, may we present: MISTER EMPHASIZE.

  • I've only had my kindle 3 since june... I love the thing...

    new kindles:

1st.. The color is hideously tacky

2nd.. I like the side buttons.. I like touching things... but ..e-ink letters and words aren't one of my priorities.. :)

3rd.. I think if I had a "real ish" web brower I endup going to some porno site.. and thus distracting me from actually reading... :)

Soo... Imma continue flossing my 5th gen ipod nano and my super cool graphite kindle 3

If it aint broke don't fix it.

  • The Fire is fucking glossy. Why, Amazon, why?? It's a fucking portable device. Why the fuck is the screen glossy you fucking dipshit assholes.

  • @131x The screen is LCD. It inherently has glare. Same as the iPad's screen. Blame the technology not Amazon, you dumbfook.

  • @Epifrin Wrong. For example, Macbooks have an LCD display and there is an option to get a matte display for the 15 and 17 inch models. I'm not an expert on this technology so correct me if i'm wrong, but i would assume putting a matte display on a tablet would not be a problem. The reason glossy is the industry standard is simply because it looks pretty and people are too dumb to realize matte displays are infinitely superior to glossy ones. Especially on a portable device. Fucking screen glare.

  • no wifi, no camera, no microphone.... no buyers
