i think it's because they weren't clear jobbers. taka fought for the world title against HHH, they regularly fought top tag teams for the belts and both regularly held light heavyweight and hardcore titles....

perhaps the wwe needs to have more effort into the undercard so people care about the matches outside of their main events...

They were jobbers. TAKA always challenged for the Light-Heavyweight title but never won it back. They let him have one run when he arrived for 10 months then they put him as a jobber.

Funaki held the Hardcore title once for under a minute at Wrestlemania 16 and later held the Light weight belt in 2004-05 for around 4 months that is all they got.

Yes however we do need to go back to this time. TAKA should have been the wwe champion hands down so could have Funaki.
