  • Tommy is so much far ahead of anyone,,,How ya duplicate THAT !!!!

  • i personally don't t think there are any "best" guitarist, they all have their style and brought what their own touch to music history. for me its all a matter of taste so i go with (my favs) - Rhoads , laiho , wylde , malmsteen , vai and lets say Iommi

  • @TheCreature131 and Jake E. Lee *

  • slash is just an overrated guitarist.richie is way better.he doesnt play xtremely long solos but he got the soul man. thumbs up if u agree.

  • richie sabora?

  • If you don't have RANDY RHOADS on your list just look him up cause you fucked up..... That's just reality and coolsoccer21 guy fuck soccer and john mayer if you think john mayer is a good guitar player get then learn something about musical talent... you say soccer i say soqueer lol at lawn fairies and john gayer

  • John Mayer, although I dislike his music, had the best tone out of all I know and have heard. Very sweet warm rich tones. If u disagree u need to get your ears checked because it's not even up for discussion, it's a fact. If he was a bad guitar player, people like Clapton, bb king, buddy guy, and all of the greats would not ask him to play with them. But they did. Why? Cause he's that good, like it or not.

  • Where's jimmy page

  • Well, you did forget BucketHead -_-

  • You forgot Jimi Hendrix!

  • Synister gates ?

  • @nish847 Slash is shite compared to most of the guitarists here.

  • where the fuck is slash!!! r u fuckin kidding me!

  • I think Van Halen, Slash, Clapton, Angus Young and Hendrix are the best!

  • Please no killings, but Where the fuck is Matt Bellamy???? I love that man.

  • one of the most upcoming guitarists, tosin abasi should be considered in the list.........

  • one of the most upcoming guitarists ..............tosin abasi should be considere3d in the list!!

  • Jimi Hendrix changed the guitaring playing :p

  • For god sakes. don't miss John Petrucci!!! What about Shawn Lane? And you have to admit that guys like George Benson, Earl Klugh, and Marc Antoine are great tasty jazz players. Plus, look at Chet Atkins and Les Paul's Chester and Lester album. It as full of great musicality and tasteful playing.

  • have u heard of randy Rohdes and joe satriani

  • Top 15 1.Gary Moore Buckethead Hendrix SRV Dave Gilmour Knopfler Guthrie Govan Malmsteen EVH Rhoads Paul GIlbert Satch Vai Nuno Bettencourt John Sykes. Just my opinion.

  • dimebag???

    eric clapton??

    alex lifeson?

joe satriani is better than steve vai and paul glbert

  • @alexcdiamond I agree with you on Alex Lifeson, but gilbert is better than Satriani.

  • Respect for putting Tosin Abasi in there. But am I the only on who is wondering where Dimebag is on all of these lists?

  • U kidding me? Where's SLASH?????????

  • @locky9129 In Axl's ass. Slash is all image and no substance....

  • Jimi Hendrix is #1. Enough said!!!:). The greatest guitarist of all time!!!!:) thanks jimi -3

  • Van Halen, Knopfler, Clapton, Page, Gilmour and Hendrix! The best

  • @ChelseaFC741 you forgot about Hammet

  • @GottalovetheBIKE Trolling?

  • @ChelseaFC741 not..

  • @DreamTheater1985QL It's my opinion only. Justify Your own

  • and Chuck Norris?

  • lists like this are stupid. such generic picks too. the only ones i agree with are Emmanual and Stevie Ray

  • Eric Clapton, Pete Townshend,????

  • It`s so subjective. It`s all in the "ears" of the beholder or "maybe you don`t hear what I hear" then adding in the quality,or lack thereof, of the audio or the mood of the listener. I could make up 10 lists of the greatest guitar players "ever" 10 times and they would all be different with one exception, RORY GALLAGHER would be somewhere on every list hands down

  • john fruscainte?

  • 4 real..

    top 10 ????

    some of them..

  • Ever heard of Randy Rhoads?

  • I like your choise!! :)

  • WHERE THE FUCK IS SYNESTER GATES!!!!!

  • NO JASON BECKER IN THE LIST MEANS it is never real top 10 guitarist because he is highly classical + jazz+rock+funk+blues mixture .

  • where the fuck is jason fucking becker ???? where is he>>??

  • What about Pink Floyd for God's sake?

  • @nosuchthing8 for real bro. some ppl will just never understand the awesomeness of the floyd

  • The 8 string is not a standard instrument; in other words, why would you put that crap on this list?

  • @berrypossum ''top 10 guitarists'' isnt 8 stringed guitar a guitar to you?

  • @TheDippaDappa talking mainstream here

  • is the wost top ten i ever seen

  • randy rhoads is better than all of these

  • Eric Clapton, Doug Aldrich, Gary Moore, Jeff Healey...

  • WHERE THE FUCK IS MUSTAINE.... just kidding guys

  • ANGUS SUCKS

  • @mdegrande29650 U suck

  • @mdegrande29650 fuck u faggot ass pussy angus became a fuckin legend

  • You forgot Rory Gallagher

  • what song was steve vai playing on here?

  • @kriswizzle123 "Bad Horsie" from his 1995 album "Alien Love Secrets"...whole album is great, one of his best imo, check it out...peace

  • The Real Top 10 Guitarists of All Time? Too many metal players, don't you think?

  • @carjlp I agree. Blues rock is where most of the guitar talent is found.

  • Music is an Art,not a Sport.Good Technique does not a good guitarist make

  • Should have called it ten fastest. If I believed these clowns were the best,i`d loose the will to live.

  • How did you manage to slip the soulful and passionate Jimi Hendrix in among a bunch of technicians. Steve Vai's posturing and phony facial expressions should not be misinterpreted as passion. Angus Young is a poor man's Alvin Lee. Stevie Ray Vaughn was great, but is probably in the honorable mention, or maybe barely scrapes into the top 10.

  • Your credibility has been vanquished. You failed to include the finest electric guitarist that ever prowled the globe: SHAWN LANE.

    Do your homework...junior.

  • Crap

    Vlatko Stefanovski is best

Check this: Vlatko Stefanovski & Gibonni Kao Kakao

  • @foljabl haha da da ... a Tocak?

  • No Eric Clapton, no Carlos Santana, no respect

  • how could you forget jimmy fucking page retard. youre a fucking idiot. you know nothing about fucking guitar. your list is all fucking guitar slashing metal players. youre dumb as fuck. wheres Clapton Gilmour Page Beck. any of those names ring a bell dip shit? FUCK YOU

  • Comment removed

  • @steve0aw

Clapton...Page...Gilmore...are cosmologically inferior players to the likes of the genius that was Shawn Lane.

  • @steve0aw wow lmfao... not only do those guitarists have no technical skill.. but to lots of ppl they don't even sound good, in fact i hate listening to those guitarists cuz they're so sloppy... but that's my opinion and i would never bash YOU for liking them cuz that's what music's for... but ur hardly proving ur point that ur right when you talk like that to someone who's just stating their opinion

  • Omg I love Animals As Leaders sooo much!

  • Wait, no Eric Clapton.

  • I love Angus Young, he is so awesome.

  • If this was top 10 it would be almost all acoustic players:P Only one who deserved to be on the ist was emmanuel:p

Seems people who makes these lists have never actually played a guitar:p

  • Santan

    Steve how

    Richy blackmoore???

  • and no David Gilmour....incredible.

  • This list is awesome, great job.But jusy one question, where the hell is PhD. Brian H. May, I'm sure he's not the best, but at least he should be in the top ten, listening really closely to these artist, I realized, some of his tappinr or technique drained into theirs, I'm prety sure they all learned at least a few things from him. If not convinced listen to Brighton Rock's solo or Live at Houston 77' solo.

  • i like how u started the video with a awesome solo , then the rest of them were kinda of a ley down because everyone has seen them all or they arent just as good at the other ones , hmmmm

  • 1. Jeff Beck

    2. Jimi Hendrix

    3. Jimmy Page

    IMO! Dont rage!

  • It's all a matter of taste, this isn't my taste at all.

  • Where is John Frusciante???

  • @LordQ12 Getting fist fucked by Paul Gilbert.

  • @RiceKiller191 YEEEAH.

  • love em all but who in their right mind would have such a list without mention of the truely greatest player of all times and the first to do what van halen gets credit for the tapping and yes thats right Mr. guitar Chet Adkins

  • NO RANDY RHOADS YOUR LIST IS INVALID AND DON'T COUNT you even have mostly metal guitar players and randy even was a huge influence on 2 guitarist on your list maybe more but 2 that i know of

  • Thanks that was amazing. A real change from the usual lists. Still no Trower????

  • What about the man who taught Steve Vai and many other famous guitarists? Joe Satriani.

  • where the fuck is Gus g?

  • Where is pete townshend ????

--- first guitarist who had used the "visual aspect/effect" of music, guitar.

--- who had used his guitar as a destruction instrument.

    --- who had discovered feedback.

--- who had break a guitar on stage (he was the first !)

--- who had invented the concept of rock opera (TOMMY)

  • @Lambretta2244 he have calssic riff in history of rock and the hability to play the music live better than the studio version...sorry for the bad english XD

  • John McLaughlin?

  • "The Real Top 10 Guitarist os All Time" -- I would definitely re-title this video as "A Video Disguised as MY Opinion of Some of Favorite Famous Guitarist, But What Is Really An AD For Some Run-Of-The-Mill 8 String Wannabe Shredder Black Dude Who No One's Ever Heard Of But I Think Is Cool Because I Have Limited Musical Appreciation Skills Or Who Is In Fact ME But I'm Posing As Some Fan Of His (really ME)" XD

  • All Angus Young is sit around the minor pentatonic scale, which isn't difficult!

Van Halen's tapping abilities could be better, all it is, is childish noise.

Has nobody seen a Jazz player? Joe Pass, George Benson, Larry Carlton?

Classical players such as Andres Segovia, Paco Delucia and Doug Devries!

Or even Guthrie Govan who in my opinion, is the greatest guitarist to ever live.

  • @zac23godwin ok if i can see you play like Angus Young or Eddie Van Halen then mabye id belive you

  • The band is called Whitesnake and their Doug Aldrich/Reb Beach duel solos own all of these (bar Stevie). Especially the crap last one.

  • I see. No mention of Mr. Guitar, no mention of Les Paul, no mention of Django Reinhardt, no jazz players at all. I agree with Tommy Emmanuel on your list. Your Hendrix video is reversed, Jimi was left handed. No country pickers even though they are as good as any. How about Chuck Berry? Without him, the rest of the guys on your list don't pick up a guitar. Everyone has their favorites, me included, but do some real research before calling a video the REAL top ten guitar players OF ALL TIME.

  • Everything said is correct.Any list of great guitarists must be qualified! No one mentions the great classical guitarists such as Segovia, who popularized the modern Spanish classical guitar with a particular style using Romantic-Modern and Neoromantic music. Such music is called the Segovia-repertoire because it would not exist without Segovia. And let's not forget that in the mid-20th century, guitarist Luiz Bonfá popularized Brazilian musical styles such as the Bossa Nova.Bonfá was brilliant.

  • pretty sure you forgot the best guitarist, John Petucci?

  • You left out Jimmy.

He's a dude down the street from my house, and he plays a 125 string guitar he built himself.

Plus, he does it all with his goddamn toes.

  • I agree with quite a few. Although I think the guys an arrogant ass, Malmsteen/Don Ross are great.

Steve Vai said that Tommy Emmanuel was the best he has ever seen and so did Clapton so great to see him on the list. Not a bad list, I give it an 8 out of 10!! Great job and taste!

  • @MrTanman141 He's on the list!

  • Randy Rhoads!!!!

  • randy rohdes!

  • come on man. every single guitarist (good or bad) is great in there own way. adam jones from tool is good at alternative music. mick mars from motley crue is good and every other guitar has some sort of talent in there own way

  • @MrCalendarboy Careful sir, you just contradicted yourself. Tommy Emmanuel is on this list.

  • @MrCalendarboy Careful sir, you just contradicted yourself. Tommy Emmanuel is on this list.

  • @MrCalendarboy i guess we need to do an 10 year cap...he does has good selections...but shit he did miss out a few

  • @MrCalendarboy P.S tommy in there stupid

  • @MrCalendarboy tommy emmannul is crap eric clapton, jimi hendrix, angus young, jimmy page are much bettter

  • @MrCalendarboy wow.. your comment just makes u look like an ass or a retard. i cant figure out which. whoever thinks Hendrix or Van Halen are crap and not one of the greats knows nothing about amazing guitar work

  • @MrCalendarboy jimmy page should be tops he didnt have all the fancy distortion these guys had he made his own and he played wih more passion than all these guys

  • Two words...... David Gilmour?

  • what about malmsteen and eric johnson

  • Any list of greatest guitarists that omits Arthur Blake instantly loses credibility.

  • Everyone has their own opinion on what's "best". People need to jump off this guys' balls. Sure, he's left out some very important guitarists but, who's to say who is the best or greatest? I don't agree with him but, I'm sure that most of you wouldn't agree with me. Every guitarist deserves credit, some people thinking thrashing is good, others prefer Flamenco and Classical. Just have to realize that what he hears and feels from this music isn't what you hear or feel. It's an opinion, relax.

  • I can't disagree with what you say but what it points to is a need to qualify any list. If he had offered some qualifiers he would be getting fewer complaints.

  • Your selection demonstrates weak knowledge of music history. No musician should qualify as greatest unless they've spent a lifetime making great music. You left out Hendrix,Santana,Clapton,Paige,Blackmore,Trower,Cippolina,Winter,Vaughn,Wash,Allman, Betts,Gilmour,Garcia,Young,Stills, and I could list dozens bluesmen (King,Hooker, who warrant title greatest.Retitle your list:The greatest child prodigies.Rethink your picks 30 years from now and see who warrants greatest.

  • @RogerHWerner No musician can be qualified as the greatest. It is impossible. Nothing wrong with child prodigies either. The most remembered musicians (Mozart, Beethoven, Paganini, List) were child prodigies. It is you who demonstrates a lack of knowlege with your comment.

  • Mozart was not recognized as a prodigy until many many years after his death. He died a pauper. That's exactly my point. It takes years, some times generation for a person's truth worth to be recognizing. That's simply a fact of history.

  • @RogerHWerner That is not accurate at all. Mozart died poor because he went out on his own rather than work a solid comission with any aristocrat. Mozart was considered a child prodigy by all who saw him. Where do you get your facts? Do you just make them up?

  • I'm not saying he wasn't a child prodigy and to a certain extent he achieved fame within his lifetime. He never gained financial security because he was eccentric and angered most who could aid him. Although he was known/respected while alive,he didn't attain the pinnacle of the classical musical genre until after his death. Why: Influence on subsequent composers. The surge in his reputation didn't occur until after his death and that's fact. Look it up.

  • @RogerHWerner I didn't leave out Hendrix or Paige. Paige is one of my idols for his production and musical sense. I originally made this list right outside of high school; my uneducated days. Mostly I chose people that could shred and noodle pretty well. Mainly because I felt that playing the blues was too easy/monotonous. The pentatonic scale has been beaten to death. Don't get me wrong, I love the blues, especially now. I like nothing more than a good blues jam session.

  • Yes I can see your point as the depicted players definitely know how to move the fingers PDQ.

  • @Midfield401 The Blues and the pentatonic scale are two entirely different things. Listen to Robert Johnson. Then see if you believe all he is playing is a lousy pentatonic scale.

  • @guitarzilla100 Oh yeah you're right, entirely different. That added sharped fifth changes everything...

  • @Midfield401 There is no sharped fifth in the blues scale. Plus that is not what I am talking about. The point (I failed completely to point this out) is that artists like him don't really use scales in the way we think of. Especially not people like him.

  • @guitarzilla100 Oh yeah, my mistake, it's a flatted fifth, haha. I understand what you mean. A lot of older music wasn't meant to be played in scales and whatnot, they played in what sounded good to them. That's the thing about scales though, they aren't rules, it's just a congregation of what people thought sounded good over hundreds of years. More than likely whatever they played was within on of these scales whether they meant it or not. But yes, I agree with you.

  • @Midfield401 Yeah, thats fine. And that is exactly what I meant. Scales are really just outlines.

  • And I hope you learn one lesson from this experience: Always qualify opinion as opinion and state the limitations of opinion. This is a list of the greatest guitarists of the past 10 years, or that I've ever heard in concert, or...whatever. When properly qualified it is hard to criticize opinion.

  • @RogerHWerner Also, I don't consider anyone to be the best anymore. Everyone has their own styles, some people can play quicker than others. Others show more emotion, and some can pull off some wicked technical style. This list was influenced by other people more so than being my own opinion. I loathe SRV, always have, always will. I honestly don't know why he is on this list, but oh well, it doesn't matter. Nobody is the greatest.

  • Selecting the best is hard for reasons you indicate, which is why it is always a good idea to state parameters. For example, when discussing blues one might begin with style and then discuss the best within each. But then who would want to argue over who is the best Muddy Waters of BB King?Same with English blues rockers.Whose better Clapton,Beck,Paige,Blackmore? Is this even a worthwhile debate? When discussing talent at such a lofty level is there ever a greatest?Maybe greatest performance?

  • He didn't miss Hendrix or Vaughn... I do see your point, but if you have to rant like that, you may as well watch the whole video first.

  • @RogerHWerner Freedom of Speech Hitler! Just be glad that some of these guys are recognized. Tommy Emmanuel is by far the best I have ever seen and Steve Vai and Clapton both said that too!

  • @RogerHWerner He included Vaughan and Hendrix. He forgot Mark Knopfler, the guys you mentioned, Brian May, Uli Jon Roth, Rory Gallagher, Mick Ronson, Bo Diddely, Frank Zappa, Ted Nugent, Joe Walsh, Buddy Holly, Carl Perkins, Mark Knopfler (he deserves to be added twice.) Gary Moore and Willie Nelson.

  • @RogerHWerner it is his opinion so :P who's the dumb ass now xD

  • @RogerHWerner haha, you think you got great knowledge of music history? you can't even spell Jimmy's last name, which is Page not Paige.

  • where is eric clapton?

  • Comment removed

  • wow its obvious u don't know shit about guitar>>>but u got 2 guys right on that list>>>>see if u can figure out who??? Jeeeeez

  • @STORYTASTIC And I assume you know everything about guitar?

  • @STORYTASTIC Then please enlighten me. Who were the two you think should stay on the list? And who else would you put on the list?

  • @STORYTASTIC And keep in mind, you don't have to "know shit about guitar" to choose a personal list of top 10 guitarists.
