if you will read the history of the making of silsila .. then you will find that bacchan used the story of silsila to set at rest all the rumours regarding him and rekha.

Originally Jaya bhadhuri (she was bacchan then) was never in the cast.

Overnite he changed the cast, got jaya bhadhuri into the role, so that even thru the movie storyline he could reach out to his public and ask them not to delve into the alleged affair between them
