I just start to learn ASL recently, am hard of hearing. I can sign some simple words now. I joined a great deaf daing site, ----Deafornot dot c om----, and met some good deaf/HOH friends over there. They help me to learn ASL.

@CalLumpyK Stop being selfish, Hearing can hear where Deaf cannot hear so how do you expect Deaf to hear their own voice. Sign Language is language and Peter cook are doing the richness of it's language. once you know the sign language you will understand better so, don't act like a doctor here you never ask deaf how they feels or thinks. Peter cook's performance are understood by sign language around the world.(I'm from UK) Deaf can see the sign and understand miles better than lip reading!

@CalLumpyK I'm sorry you're unable to appriciate the art of poetry, especially at a place that bridges the gap between two distinct cultures and languages the way this performance did.
While attending Arizona State University for my BS, I was beyond fortunate to be a founding member of a small group of d/Deaf & HOH students lead by Jaine Richards. known as "Poetic Images". In 1990, we performed alongside Peter as well as Sam Supalla (sp?) at the Herberger Theater. It was an amazing experience to say the least, but the day after proved to be one that would change me forever (in a good way). I will always be thankful to Peter, Jaine Richards and all the members of our group...
This was great... Some of the comments below need to go though... wow!

A person who embraces ASL as their primary language will be considered a
member of the Deaf community. I find many deaf friends on a Deaf dating
site ----Deafornot dot c om---- Good luck to them!!!

only 22,000 views and 56 likes, seriously... Peter Cook deserves a bigger audience and better fans.
