  • haha yo they just didnt give a damn in their Album covers back then! they just let it all hang out hardbody! lol

  • Luckiest guy in that picture doesn't look at all interested in the girl he is behind.

  • What yall know about this! HEY luv HEY luv!

  • well the girl is hot

  • I'm surprised that no one has challenged dudes lame remrk about the "...gayest album ever". Anyone who was into them and other funk groups of the 70's, knows that it was all about concept. When you think of "New Birth", it reps music created in it's purest form like a newborn, duh!...nothing gay or wrong about that! It is VERY likely that the photo is an illusion of what you see. I SERIOUSLY DOUBT that they were all butt naked, that would definitely been a convo piece back then. Long live NB!

  • HEY LOVE HEY LOVE.... .......OOOOOHHH OOOOHH YEAAAHHH. THATS THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE SONG......

  • everybody's yappin about the album cover W A I T !remember that era???people were into group sex and shit like that but if I'm wrong then all those soul brotha blaxploitation films are lyin...S M H

  • I remember New Birth and their music very well. They were soulful and passionate. Like so many of the black groups of the 70's help idenify black america. We created our own sound and style. We embraced our SOUL and HEART TO CREATE A SOUND THAT ALL THE WORLD EMBRACED....I'M BLACK AND I'M PROUD...SO PROUD AS NEVER BEFORE....

  • YOU SHOULD HEAR JERRY BELL'S REMAKE OF BEEN A LONG TIME!! HE WAS ONE OF THE SINGERS IN THE GROUP, HE'S A BAD MOTHER F" HE IS ON UTUBE UNDER JERRY BELL. NOW HE IS A VOCAL BEAST!!! HE WILL REALLY TAKE YOU BACK. THERE ARE NO ARTIST OF TODAY DOING ANYTHING LIKE THIS!!

  • @jamesjames600 Your Pushing the hell out of Jerry Bell I'm not trippin just wondering are you his PR guy? Jerry Bell join the group in their last leg days after the wilson brother left...

  • SLICK PIMPIN! I CAN DIG IT! NEW BIRTH IS #1 BABY DIG THAT!

  • i don't care for this song in particular, but I like the band overall

  • this album cover is SEXY...get into it. and they had some good as perms too child please

  • You are so right ilovemyboyba, in the 70's these groups were more than just musicians they were family , people tripping off the album cover and saying it's gay or they are an orgy are uncomfortable with themselves and their sexuality. They are victims of American sexual Society's perversion. When you look at 70's black bands like New Birth weren't just friends they were FAMILY. Too bad we as African- Americans have embraced White America's worst cultural excess of hate and confromity

  • that cover is super gay

  • this album cover won a grammy for best cover 1976 and the music is also good soul funk from New Birth

  • Thank GOD there is only one Leslie Wilson!!!!!!!!

  • any one have this original cover to this album.the inside art work is even better

  • @durangos230 /I do and the inside is jus as good

  • i love nb never look at the album cover as gay just play it ever day

  • At the time I bought this album I didn't give the cover a second thought. It seemed kind of natural. Rufus featuring Chaka Khan and The Undisputed Truth were a couple of other groups that featured one female. Chaka Khan and Taka Boom are sisters.

  • Nice underrated post! still looking for "the long & winding road, and "we are god's children"

  • You just cannot go wrong with Melvin and Leslie Wilson!!!!!!!

  • THIS IS THE WAY GOD CREATED ALL OF US. TV HAS JUST RUIN THE OPEN-MINDNESS OF THE WORLD UNTIL THE IMAGE OF ART IS DEGRADED BY SIN.

  • my favorite year...

  • 9TH GRABBED 1:07 OF THE SONG AND ALSO 3:02 LOL...

  • 9TH WONDER INTRODUCTION...

  • I LOVE this album cover!!!! This was way before SEXUALITY had us in a CHOKEHOLD. New Birth was waaay more than a group, judging by this picture they were obviously a family. With two of the most FLAWLESS lead singers in music HISTORY!!!!

  • Londee can sing her ass off!!

  • that is so gay fucking a fck them

  • this album cover singlehandedly started the gay movement it should have been called gay potion

  • this is like the gayest album cover in history.....

  • It was the 70's

    "Love was free then"

Its no gayer than havin a thresome wit ya boy and a bad bitch

    Naa mean

  • where i'm from that's not a 3some... we call that a train in which 2 guys and 1 bad bitch is also gay my friend....

  • @1razinhell I think it's sexy & edgy. Brothers knew how to use their sex appeal back then, it works for me.

  • @1razinhell ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!! its different xD

  • @93lovelythang it's very different

  • @1razinhell I love this album but the cover? You may just be right.

  • @1razinhell tru dat... 6 guys 1 girl...

  • @1razinhell

    HAHAHAHAHAHA!!

  • @1razinhell Not back in the day, these kind of covers, everybody did this, even chaka kahn on her covers

  • @1razinhell there is a girl in the midst of all them men how is this gay? i mean i could see if all the gays where butt bald naked and there wasnt a woman invovled but there is

  • @mjjcng8958 I see the 1 female in the mix, but that's just it. It's only 1.

  • @1razinhell so a video full of half naked girls all grining up on one rapper is ok though? i mean everbody is putting everything in the gay box these days and it is really obnoxious

  • @1razinhell

Dang and I like their music too..but after seeing this...I am sick!

  • @1razinhell they runnin a soul train on the bitch.

  • I got the vinyl it is not hard to find

  • Been one of my fav tracks for a long long time - wish I could get my mitts on the vinyl - well done for postin it!!!!!

  • DAMN!!!!!!!

  • Exactly!!

  • love this track!...wow thats a brave woman on that album cover

gettin butt naked with those guys lol

  • brave or horny ?

  • It's sexy ; )

  • There is a song titled "Falling in Love" on this same album. Can you upload it?

  • @icon200 how do u know that he/she's a guy??

  • @mrhatch4u - So you're being facetious or you don't know New Birth.

  • @icon200

  • @icon200 more like groupie

  • yo rrickster the funk will never die youtube is proof i try to listen to some fm today i end up here or playing my favorites on rhapsody so you see the funk is very much alive on well if the youngsters cling to rap its their loss funk is like the box of chocolates almost every piece is good though you don't know exactly what you get until it plays

  • Man!! I forgot how powerful that BASS LINE was in this song. The artist of this era really tried hard to produce good quality music for their fans. You can feel the emotions in the music and vocals. You just don't see that today except for a few artist like Angie Stone who does her best to bring good music and vocals, but is so underated. Man I miss the 70's

  • Angie Stone sucks, try Nikka Costa, Leela James, or Van Hunt,

  • Amen disco Al.......

  • they say the issue of whats good music and bad music , is subjective but i don't believe that...this is the only form of music that steals your heart...musicianship is great but soul is a life-force...feel is everything man...great f*%king song...HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY YAWW..

  • FYI, this song is a rare lead vocal by Melvin Wilson, brother of the group's star lead singer Leslie.

  • Hmm, I'm not sure about that one. This sounds exactly like Leslie. Melvin and Leslie's voices are totally different. You can hear Melving singing a verse on "Dream Merchant", "You should have told this fool to stop it. You should have made this blind man see" that's Melvin, this is Leslie.

  • the greatest group ever

  • Yes, this was back when you could hang with your love in the parks until the sun came up.. . We used to hang in different neighborhoods playing music. We Never got bothered by the police.. We used to go to house parties almost every night. No fights. No police. This was in York, Pa. The park was Lafayette Park. We used to love this Album. I'm 46 now. I still love to hang out in the and listen to music. It is hard now. Cause, the police will think you are dealing drugs. It's sad.

  • I feel in love off this album. 1976. I never been love like that since. I was so young.

  • I know what you mean. Back in 1976 this album made me want to fall in love.

  • I wonder if this song's been sampled by a hip hop artist like Kanye West? Great groove.

  • Goin' Downstairs Right Now, And Searchin' Through My Dad's Stack Of Albums For This Bad Tune. I've Seen This Album Laying Around For Many Years, But Never Paid It Any Mind. I Will Know!

  • This is amazing, pure emotion. Goosebumps all over!

  • that cover is the shit i love it

  • James Baker RIP, my musical teacher, and friend!

  • And on top of all that this has got to be the most underated slow jam of he 70s. If you're headfirst in love this is definitely the cut. Thanks D for posting this track.

  • One of my favorite bands. Growing up in Louisville, Ky. I lived accross the street from the bass player's (Leroy Taylor) daughter India and the brother (Sean) of Reggie and Vincent Calloway of Midnight Star. It was such a great time musically. I love the Love Potion album. They did a cover of Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds' "Fallin' In Love Again" and also did nice job on "We're All God's Children"

  • i love da hook and the bridge....

  • This is the real soul sound that takes me back to the good days. I really miss those days!! Good job posting this song!!

  • i love this group!!! where can i buy/see live video footage of this group? i can't seem to find it on here. they are so darn soulful!!!

  • You want to see a live version of the New Birth look up the post New Birth you don't have to be alone posted by Triump 1980...it's the shit...ask any questions the R&B Beast....

  • that's so muich for that info! i truly appreciate it. i am a true lover of the 70's.

  • You sound like Beautiful people,Keep in touch I'm the R&B Beast ask me any question about 70's music....Peace Candygirl

  • rrrckster, where is the modern funk scene at right now? Who's keeping the flame lit? It seems like the British artists are taking the lead and bringing it back stateside. Talk about outsourcing talent.

  • With Hip Hop leading the music world which is a sad thing R&B artist are starving because the younger folks like this more fake form of music to rebel to,the modern funk scene in the States is pretty much dead, talented artist are fleeing to smooth jazz ...R&B and Funk is in a sad state right now Hopefully R&B & Funk will make strong come back if British are leading the way more power to them...I'm into Smooth Jazz now...Ask any Questions the R&B Beast...

  • one their best songs hands down

  • Yeah even though 26 yrs old this is my favorite era of music it had a revolutionary spirit to it.

  • who was the female in the group

  • Ms. Londee "The Body" Wiggins. She was the lead vocalist on their first hit single, a cover of "It's Impossible."

  • I assume 'Ms. Wiggins" is related to 'Tony Toni Tone' somehow! They always mentioned this group as being their idol coming up....

  • I was born in 69. Although I was a child in the 70's, I grew up on this music. Nothing can compare!! I just wish I was old enough to experience the pretty women, and social consciousness of the 70's. I was born 15 years too late.

  • i totaly agree with you bxmammal.I feel the same way.i was born in 70.great song !! very soulful and the instrumental is great.wish we had more music like this today......

  • best song on the album, this version sounds slower than whats on my album...I have 2 original copies of this record, both with the album cover, if anyone is interested

  • i am interested..how much would u be selling them for?

  • ill sell one for $10

  • yea

  • new birth is a part of afro-music history, thank you leslie wilson and harvey faqua

  • i may be young and not a 70's baby, but i do know good music. and i have always loved this band ever since i first heard them sing "Wildflower". i was 7 and the radio was on and i was about to get a whipping for doing something, don't remember, but that song calmed me down....lol, i love this man's voice!

  • when i hear these types of songs, i'm suspended in time! very nostalgic!! also, these artists worked the hardest; and got paid the least!! until rappers revolutionized the music-industry; with their label-deals, getting 50% or better off everything they sold, artist like new birth, etc, only got 7-9% off their sales!! that's fucked up, ain't it? and just think, they had a lot of members, too!!

  • remember payola...these groups were robbed...it may be late for song,,but they need to reunite for some live concerts and possibly new music...

  • i have this album but not the cover. hard to find on wax.

  • I love this song...

  • THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! This is the band that personified talent back in the day...

And to have seen them live, performing with no tracks, was bliss...

  • Sure you're right. I totally Agree!

Those days are long gone, but very much missed!

New Birth, Mandrill, War and all the other urban bands at the time that formed this genre of music. It takes me WAY, WAY back ! PEACE!

  • Yes! Thanks for remembering Mandrill. Their first cover was all the way live. There was a young man, Sugie Otis, who was performing back then. Rich sound. I miss the music also. I'm so glad people post this music so I can re-live the days:)
