is there any way someone can explain to me (via PM possibly?) what components I'll need to setup APRS on my Yaesu FT-880R mobile rig? What kinds of things do I need to remember when I use APRS? It's main purpose will be for reporting my location and tracking others. Thanks everybody!
garmin nuvi 350, tracker 2 and a cheap vhf radio like a gp300 or gm300 don't have your expensive ham radio doing this mundane task unless you have more money than sense
As far as VHF/UHF is concerned, I haven't noticed anything significant. At least in my environment, external QRMs are more problematic than one coming from my car. It could be whole different story for HF, though.
So any one who may find this post interesting is unintelligent and ignorant. Possibly youtube is not the site for you man. He can post anything he wants thats what this site is for. I am struggling to resist the urge to use large amounts of profanity here because your stupidity shines through here. You think you are an intellect don't you?
Actually Tommy, I'm someone with an opinion. Many hams are inarticulate, uneducated and poor communicators. This video is evidence of that. Indeed most hams are poor communicators.
The guy who posted this shows nothing to anyone seriously interested in the radio.
If you find it useful, then indeed you have low standards. That too is commonon the web.
Strive to raise the bar Tommy. The uneducated masses have no future. Step up Tommy. You can get there!
where did you buy those glass mounts from?

I guess showing that the TM-D710 can output APRS stations as POI to the Garmin GPS... ;)

No commentary, shaky video, no explanation. What is the purpose of this video?
mewcomm 4 years ago
No purpose, just a video log.
unsignedint 4 years ago
If it serves no purpose then don't post it. The net is full of "no purpose" posts.
On the other hand, if you want to demonstrate and explain APRS and the D710, then do it well or don't do it at all.

the guy can post what ever he wants you half wit...

I stand by my remarks truetimer. This guy's post is typical of the meaningless tripe that poses as information and competes for our time.
Educated people of substance will ignore future posts by unsignedint. The ignorant won't know any better.

You viewed it, leave the guy alone and look elsewhere. Spend less time online. Who are you to tell others what to do?

I didn't say it was useful or not. I said the guy has a right to post it. YOU have a right NOT to view or agree with it.
Get over it. Not everyone is you. It's o.k.! The world will go on! Really, you'll see!
