Springfield Armory XDm 9mm Compact 3.8 Review (Part 2 of 2)

All the xdm vids feature someone complaining about a punch being needed to change the backstrap... change your tampon go to the man garage and come back with a punch and a hammer.. I didnt go for the compact because I feel like it could lead to some error loading a full size mag with an extra piece of plastic that could possibly not line up right or cause an issue in a stressful situation.. Also figure I wanted to shoot the same gun with the same grip all the time.

Nice review. I'm a local 425 guy...wondering where you bought and abt how much you paid for it? Did you consider the cheaper XD9 model at all?

Shouldn't dry fire that. There is a pin on the top(the chambered round view pin) and it can break/make it loose. Snap cap! it!

Dig the review bro, I'm thinkin about buying one these or the S&W M&P9c in the next couple weeks so I'm doing as much research and range time as I can. Nice to see another fellow Seattle gun owner too! At least I'm assuming you're from Seattle, who else would flaunt Seahawks love on the internet!

I was XD fanboy when SA first bought it out.... until their CS refused to sell me a striker buffer spring unless I send the gun in... Not cool. I sold off all four of mine and went all Glock. My EDC is G19 and its been my most trusted piece, more so than my Nighthawks. To me, the Glock angle fits me very nicely.

@pittwm Interesting... Wonder if they would ship to a local gun shop... Either way, sounds like you made a good choice and got it figured out. G19's are great.

I ended up with a Glk 19..there was something that felt right about it my hand and I liked the bore axis and trigger squeeze better than the XDM (the price also played a part. Shooters, the local store that has a monopoly on gun sales where I live, was offering the Gen4 G19 with for 520 and the xdm subc 9mm for $600!) I was able to get a 33 round clip too. Never the less the XDM is a well though out gun and worth it. I appreciate the OfficialTlong review in helping me out with what to look for!

Great review! One thought though: It could be a good idea to have some talking points, or writing down some key words, incase forget what you were talking about, or to make sure you talk about everything in the correct order and don't skip anything. I don't know if you had that, but if you didn't it could be smart if you're thinking of doing more reviews in the future. :)

Thanks for the video. I have to decide between the XD and the Glock 19. I am favoring the glock because of the history. Only thing about the glock I question is the grip angle. Does the XD have the 1911 grip angle and does it point any better from the glock or the same in your opinion? Thanks again.

@Pivo000 I would say the XDm grip angle is a little less aggressive than the 1911 and it is also fairly less than the Glock 19. I will say I do like the way my hand grips the XDm better than the 19. I should probably add the 19 I shot was a Gen 3 and it had slightly higher recoil than the XDm as well which could be the reason for that grip comment. I haven't spent enough time with the 19 to know for sure. I noticed a lot of people put auxiliary grip tape on Glocks which may solve my issue
