I love the contrast between how Eric is made into a vampire which is from a weird place as Godric was willing to kill Eric's men to turn Eric into a vampire when he was dying, because he wanted a companion and was impressed with Eric's fighting vs Bill a starving soldier in the Civil War when Lorena took advantage of him and gave him no choice to become a vampire. You can see that even when Godric was 1000 yo he had the seed of caring because of the way he made Eric. I loved Godric-so zen!

Allan Hyde (Godric) manages to capture a vampire's predatory excitement and balance it with the uncertainty and curiosity of a child: an extremely old and powerful being trapped inside a child's or young man's body. There is strength even in his moments of vulnerability: that is what I think makes Godric such a compelling character. I wish the writers had explored his character more deeply: by far the most interesting and mysterious character the show has had in my opinion.
@GreenSnowConeBuddy I was extremely excited to see Godric in Eric's 'hallucinations' from the finale of season 3. Here is hoping that they choose to incorporate more 'hallucinations' or, even better, flash backs of their pasts together. The chemistry between Alexander Skarsgard and Allan Hyde is unbelievable, whether fans read it sexually or not. Godric is the only character in the series so far that Eric truly seems to love, almost to the point of worship in his adoration. Truly remarkable :)
I'm going to be completely honest with you. When Godric died, I cried. Hardcore. He was the best of them, and he had to die. I haven't seen season 3 yet, but I am about to watch it today, so I am glad to know his memory carries on. I do hope that Alexander has more flashbacks of him as Eric, it would provide interesting details, as well as a short story and insight towards Eric's and Godric's character. Im Season 2, Eric seems to be really infatuated with Sookie though.
@vampirfanxD it's Swedish, Alexander's native language. The other actor is Danish if I remember correctly, so he shouldn't have had too much trouble speaking Swedish. Anyway, it's not Godric's native language, so it doesn't reely matter if he has an accent.

As a small boy he was sold as a slave to a vampire roman master who was very cruel and sadistic. After the vampire turned him, Godric stayed with him long enough to learn about being a vampire, then killed him. That got him into truble with with the vampire community, so he fled, living alone for a 1000 or so years until he met Eric in Britannia.

@vampirfanxD it's Swedish, Alexander's native language. The other actor is Danish if I remember correctly, so he shouldn't have had too much trouble speaking Swedish. Anyway, it's not Godric's native language, so it doesn't reely matter if he has an accent.

@nmepic Well since Godric isn't even Eric's maker in the books, I don't know if we can make other assumptions on that basis. True Blood Godric is just very loosely based on the book character....

@trixiedoor There are hints of Godric being gay in the book actually. As well as him being pedophile. On True Blood they more or less combined Godric and Farrell's characters which could lead to the thought of him being gay.

i agree for some reason this scene is hot and there isnt even any sex in it...i love the language thing and how eric acts so subserviant to him compared to others around him......and Godric is just beautiful.

@rabidwolfable it is really hard to place his origins, if he was ancient on the viking age and had all those tribal tatoos he may have been one of the first neolitic primitive vampires, probably older than the old king of louisiana

@sunburningstare Godric was born in Gaul during the Iron Age. Gauls worshipped the elements and the tattoo on his arm is a tribal symbol for water. As a small boy he was sold as a slave to a vampire roman master who was very cruel and sadistic. After the vampire turned him, Godric stayed with him long enough to learn about being a vampire, then killed him. That got him into truble with with the vampire community, so he fled, living alone for a 1000 or so years until he met Eric in Britannia.

@sunburningstare No, that's actually Godric from the show. In the book Godric is hardly mentioned, his name is Godfrey, and theres no mention of him being Eric's maker.
I'm not sure how Godric was able to kill his maker, I guess it was a surprise attack or something. After a life of abuse at his master/makers hands, I'm betting he had enough anger in him to find a way to kill him.
This info about Godric is on the extras in the Blu-ray dic; Pam talks about him.
