Great and detailed explanation. However, since you produced this video, we have Windows 7. I understand this will work with Windows 7, but, because I will have to make a fresh install (the "upgrade" won't work, and no one has been able to find a solution), how will this device be useful in restoring all the info to a fresh install? I'm pretty sure it won't copy the .exe or other program files, am I correct? Thanks!
It will work fine with Windows 7. The Clickfree line of products never copied EXE or any other program files. It would scan through a hard drive and look for DATA files. (Pics, documents, spreadsheets, videos, etc.) and automatically copy them to the Clickfree hard drive. You can plug the drive into your Windows 7 machine and copy those same data files back or access them as easily as you access ANY USB hard drive.
No offense taken! I was an ex-Catholic once and some of my best friends aren't believers in ANY religion! I'm just glad you came by to watch. It's all about being an uberGeek!
Yes... This is one of the major advantages of a backup solution like the Clickfree. It doesn't compress the files or move everything into a proprietary format. Instead, the Clickfree looks like a regular hard drive and each backup is arranged in its own directory as it was found on the original computer.
In other words, it's trivial to hook it up and read or copy just the files you need.
To answer your question... no - Lee Harvey Oswald wasn't a Jesuit. For that matter, he wasn't a priest... or even CATHOLIC! He was a self-described believer in the religion of Communism. (Yeah that makes no sense... but then neither does the rumor that Oswald was a Jesuit.)
Anyway, thanks for coming and enjoy your stay in reality. Peace, Fr. Robert
Hey Fr. Robert, I don't know why you bother answering people like Josh. All those conspiracy-theory types can never be convinced of anything. They are so convinced of their own intelligence that the only answers they ever have are, "wake up sheeple!" or "I know the REAL truth" - You're wasting a perfectly well-reasoned post on these guys.
i have to agree with the size as i have a standard is 160 for my windows and my other drive is 500 gig dose it have a option to let you pick a folder it can back up not the hole computer as it would take way 2 long to view all my files one thing i have disabled by chose is indexing and other options like this and i never use them in my day to day life.
Robert, when it "syncs", does it act like iTunes when it syncs with an iPod? Let's say you backup songs onto the Clickfree, but you end up deleting the songs on your computer. When it syncs, does it remove the already backed up songs in the Clickfree?
It's doesn't remove anything on the computer. If you've already backed up a particular computer and you plug it back in,it will look at the "modify" date.. if it's a later date than the file contained on the clickfree, it will copy it from the computer to the hard drive. Peace, Fr. Robert
I googled clickfree automatic backup. I found it in the following models and sizes: HD701 120GB, HD801 160GB, HD225 250GB, HD325 320GB, and HD525 500GB.
Hello Fr. Robert,
I heard that you can backup your ipod too using this device. Is this true? Also, is this an apple compatible device?
Great review.

@Maxobillion ,
the new devices all work with Mac OSX. There is an iPod product, but this isn't it.

Can you load the backed up files on a different computer than the original one the files came from?

64gb will be fine lol
for 200$
enyceckk101 3 years ago
That looks pretty nifty. I do agree that 160 GB is a bit low. 500 and up would be better since alot of people may have a buttload of files.
My question is that it only works on Windows, right? No Mac version?
OutsanityDotCom 3 years ago
Outsanity,
Correct... there are currently no Mac versions. Peace, Fr. Robert
