  • HI Rob

it's nice of you to make this helpful videos for us (english learners) but i want just a piece of advice.I have a good grasp of english i can understand most of anything like movies,radio,anime..etc.but when it come for speaking i don't know what happens i find myself fumbling for the words.and another matter i don't know which vocabulary should i concentrate on first PLEASE HELP!!!! and thanks for advance.

  • Hello Robby. my name is anuj. English is my second language. i am good at reading and understanding english but i am not good in spoken and written english. which aspect i will have to improve first, spoken or written ? OR i need to improve both the section simultaneously. i am totally confused because i want to improve both my spoken and written english. please guide me.....

  • @anujbba100 Hi Anuj, you most definitely should work on your spoken English AND approach written English this way - WRITE AS YOU SPEAK! You can check out my blog at EnglishHarmony for more info under the category Written vs Spoken English.

  • i have also the same problem. But i also have problem of vocabulary

but i'm trying my level best to get rid of from these problem

  • My opinion in studying English is very familiar to you.

  • so true!

  • Hi, your tips are very valuable, it may help a lot really to write the words in a sentence, keep up the great work!

  • Hey bud, I suggest you use "bear with me for a few more minutes" instead of "stay with me" for a few mor minutes. Just sounds more natrual.

    Also:

    "If you'll hear me out"

  • @MadcowDeity Hey bud, if I need your advice, I'll ask for it.

  • unfortunately music is very strong . I can not understand what you tell

  • @MAD9711 Well, it definitely slows down the learning process and you'd be much better off working in an English speaking environment. It's not an option really for you, so if I were you I'd keep improving my English by speaking a lot with myself and I'd also try to find some opportunities to converse with other English speakers. There's no need to fret over what you can't really influence, and you'll eventually get there albeit at a slower pace!

  • i want to learn english because,

    i love reading books,

but its been tough for me to learn it,

when i read book i encounter different complicated words,

could you help me out ?or give me some advice or ways to edify my communication skill.

thanks! i hope you'd help me out.

  • @rockynostelgic Check out this blog post of mine englishharmony com/achieve-fluent-english-reading/ - it's very relevant to your question!

  • Your videos are really helpful. But i just have problem to speak properly. I felt my tone is weird everytime i speak English. That makes me feel awful and do not want to open my mouth and speak again. can you give me some advice?

I am not very outgoing, i think my personality also cause me less willing to communicate using English.

  • @jammie1223 So you're having a feeling you're speaking in a weird tone? Maybe it's got to do with your accent - i.e. - you're ashamed of speaking with a foreign accent? Over the years I've come to a realization that the #1 thing to do if one wants to improve one's English communication skills is to ACCEPT the way you are - your unique accent, pronunciation etc. My only advice would be - become IGNORANT. Learn to ignore your embarrassment and related emotions. It's not that hard if you try! ;-)

  • You teach English better than most native English speakers. Good job, man!

  • @zombie3434 Thanks! I've never claimed to TEACH English though, I like to call myself a fluency mentor. The biggest difference is that I'm helping those foreign English speakers who can read, write and understand English at a very decent level, yet their spoken English is falling behind. So from the standard point of view, they know most of what's normally taught in English classes, but it's the confidence to speak and skills to deliver automatic, fluent speech that they lack. Thanks! ;-)

  • @EnglishHarmony Whatever you want to call it, you do a great job at it! Keep up the good work, man!

  • @jimgelinas1 Thanks a lot for your positive feedback, it's people like you who keep me motivated!!! ;-)

  • Very good video. I'm native speaker and I will say that one can go their whole life and never use the word "shun!" I have found that many foreigners have a more "advanced" vocabulary than a native speaker used in daily conversation. But, if you use modern learning materials, and learn in Context, you will do great. Thanks for the video. I will use this method in my French studies! J

  • @jeremiah3754 You're absolutely correct in saying that one can go about their daily lives with somewhat limited vocabulary, I'm noticing it on a daily basis when communicating with people at work. Everyone has their own favourite phrases and ways of saying certain things, so foreign English speakers really should be less hung up on broadening their vocabulary and more focused on using the existing one more effectively!

  • All your videos are great. Keep up your good work. very helpful.

  • @Saaz91 Thanks, I'm glad you find my videos helpful!

  • Thank you buddy! Your advices are greatly appreciated. You really know what you are talking about.

  • @Rafaellaaaa0010 Thanks! You're the first person actually who says I know what I'm talking about, that's really nice from you! :-))

  • Thank you!!! I know english but still want to improve it MOre and More... And I`ve heard that before when learning vocabulary its Always better with a whole sentence. So yeah let`s dont be embarrass when talking english we will learned from our mistakes :) just have one question where are you from???

  • @TheLossy9 I'm a Latvian!

  • I did the same I opened my dictionary (from Eng into my lang. and back) shun 1)avoid, evade, elude, keep off, keep away from, beware (of), escape, to duck, to shun danger to shun publicity 2)to deliberately avoid a person, place, or activity, ignore, reject, banish, boycott, disdain, loathe, have an aversion repugnance I shun you 3)eschew, neglect, refuse 4)push, shove 5)screen, hide The meanings are placed in the order of frequency of use. I think your advice depends on quality of dictionary
  • Thank you! This helped me a lot.

  • @littlefoxy1122 No problems! ;-)

  • @PoiroT92 Thanks, and I hope you'll put my advice to use!

  • @bhans345 Thanks for the comment, I'm glad you like my videos!

  • very helpful! tnx, you're the man!

  • @chentcent0590 You're welcome!

  • This was really helpful, thank you! English is my native language but I'm completely incompetent when it comes to trying to be articulate. I end up embarrassing myself most of the time. lol

  • @Zashley4evaneva Yeah, happens to me sometimes when I speak my native language, too! That's why it's critical to respect one's native language first to be good at using the second one. The way we organize our thoughts and express ourselves in mother's tongue will reflect on our ability to speak fluent second and third language, that's for sure!

  • really thank you you are great

  • soon I'm gonna pass the TOEFL test...and will study abroad if i get a scholarship!!! yup, finding it really helpful!!! Thanks for ur advice!!!

but the music makes it hard to understand you =\

  • @Diiiiiiiiiima10 Thanks! And by the way - in my latest videos I've done away with the background music. You aren't the only one saying it makes it hard to understand what I'm saying ;-)

  • it's very helpful .. thanks my friend ^^

  • @darknessesstar Thanks, I hope you'll put my advice to good use!

  • @byCEMD0GAN thanks, I'm glad you're finding my advice helpful!

  • Great video. Quite frankly, there are plenty of native speakers of the English language who would benefit greatly from this methodology.

  • @Owner46 thanks for your feedback, much appreciated! :-)
