These are two different cars... AMG "or" VR-4

AMG is a 4G63 FWD non turbo

VR4 is a 4G63T AWD Turbo

@Dasithkg nope, well not over here anyways my friends galant is an AMG the AMG was the trim that the only major difference was it was tuned by AMG so it went a little harder not really noticably so now but for the time yes, and came out with an all leather interior was also AWD 4G63T and at the time cost around 30 grand more. same cant be said for my VR4 mines jus an 88

all E33A's were FWD and NON TURBO

all E39A + E38A were AWD.

Galant GSX was AWD NON TURBO E39A

if your friend's engine says its an AMG, its cos it has the AMG sparkpug cover... which are interchangeable with the same Gen 4G63's....

Its very mild stock standard, but tear out most of the plastic and add a K&N pod filter and galant 4 in 1 manifold and a big bore exhaust its turns in to a stealthy terror on the roads.

Need to lower it for better handling though.

Its not limited to 180 km/h by the ecu its just a small screw in the back of the instrument cluster that governs it. Seen a few of these gettin around, all n/a but i've never seen a vr4 one yet. Way to dry rev the tits of it by the way :/

No such thing as an AMG VR-4 - AMG only modified the non turbo E33A from 1990 until 1991. Rare? Yes. Special? Not overly.

I like the Seats and so on but why is the speedometer (Right Word??) only going up to 180 km/h?? I did as fast without an AMG motor in my "normal" Galant.

It only goes up to 180km/h because it is limited by the ecu in JDM vehicles.

years ago, AMG was a privately owned company. At that time AMG used to modify the Galant VR-4 on a small scale and sold them outside of the USA. Mercedes Benz purchased AMG outright and they've since stopped modifying other makes.

AMG was like Renntech, making bad-ass Benzes before they became part of the MB family. Google Search for AMG Hammer and you'll see what I mean.
