Hi charlamain-- The Protestants have fewer books in the OT then the Catholics because we follow the original Jewish OT cannon. The Catholics follow an OT cannon approved at a later date (not officially until the council of Trent in the middle 1500s) This is sometime called the cannon of Augustine (4th Century)

I was told that the NIV was taken from something that the catholic church had thrown out because they believed it to be a mistranslation. Catholics also have several books that the protestant bible doesn't. so which is good the protestant or the catholic bible?

I remember being taught this as well. In reference to the birds, see Rev. 19:17,21. But as for cleaning up the earth-including the dead bodies, I don't recall any scriptures they used to actually support this.

Good Job Crosscheck! Very interesting. The NWT has NEVER been accepted by any credible Bible scholars & the Watchtower Society has never been able to produce any verifiable credentials 4 the folks who did the so-called translating. Translating is 1 thing, but adding/subtracting from God's word is another! That's Y they have all the [ ] brackets around words, they even admit 2adding words in their NWT foreword! Thank U 4bringing out the "truth" as found in the BIBLE! Many blessings 2 U!

21cr, Wetstein, Swiss textual scholar, while examining the Alexandrine Manuscript's 1 Tim 3:16 in London @ 1715, noticed a horizontal stroke showing faintly thru the vellum and the addition of a second stroke above, had changed the two letter Greek word OC ("who")into the abreviation/contraction 8C ("God"). Other manuscript comparisons confirmed. My Greek letters and alterations are limited by Tube's.
