  • The BEST source of carbohydrate is non-starchy organic vegetables. Period. I know people on Low-Carb/High-Fat diets that eat like 6 to 8 cups of salads and other non-starchy vegetables daily.

As for fruit - it's higher calorie and higher in sugar. There is NO nutrient found in fruit that you cannot get in vegetables. And with fewer-calories/less-sugar as an added bonus.

Fruits in moderation are fine, but things like "fruitarianism" is ridiculous and has no basis in science.

  • Here's the TRUTH people. All scientific studies show that increasing saturated fat (IE: from organic meats) and eliminating refined/processed carbs/sugars IMPROVES cholesterol ratio (lowering LDL, raising HDL) and lowers triglycerides.

Every study shows that low-carb/high-fat diets are best for weight-loss, heart-health, diabetes control, etc., whenever compared to low-fat diets, including vegan diets.

Of course, most vegans ignore science and adopt dogma and propaganda instead.

  • I'm amazed at the misinformation vegans keep propagating... "Atkins died of heart disease... Atkins was obese... yada yada..."

    None of it was true.

He died of a head injury sustained in a fall. He was over 6' tall and under 200lbs at time he entered the hospital.

His heart-health was extraordinary considering the cardiomyopathy he had for several years due to an infection. He did NOT have atherosclerosis.

  • 1imesub. I think the fact you can't even spell his name correctly, sums up your knowledge of Atkins, his work and his health.

  • Adkins always looked unhealthy.

  • @1imesub Looks are very decieving. Evein if he looked unhealthy, his cardiovascular system was perfect

  • @sjm8890 His arteries were full of a disease called atherosclerosis.

  • @1imesub But it wasn't due to his diet, and he didn't die from heart disease

  • @sjm8890 So you're saying his cardiovascular disease had nothing to do with all the saturated fat and dietary cholesterol in his diet?

  • @1imesub Dr. Atkins stated that his heart problem came from chronic infection. And atkins personal cardiologist stated "We have been treating this condition for almost two years. Clearly, his own nutritional protocols have left him, at the age of 71, with an extraordinarily healthy cardiovascular system."

  • @sjm8890 If he's so healthy, then why is he so fat?

  • @1imesub You really know nothing about the human body do you. He was 72 years old. When you get older you start to gain weight because the older you get, the slower your metabolism gets.

  • 6:47 he pin points it. Carbs and fat are what the problem is.

  • It's not about weight. It's about HEALTH.

  • Oh BLEsS Him!! i liked him!! however his diet does not work long term!! if when he was alive he would have worked with Ray Peat he could have come up with a Fantastic Diet.. We need carbs.. digetable ones!! otherwise our metabolism/thyroid/liver will soffer at some point!! Its a Fact!! however as i said Bless Atkins!!

  • @mokugin81 You're commenting on "Straw Man Atkins". You only curb the carbs for the first two weeks. After a few months you're eating plenty of carbohydrates.

  • happy 81. birthday Dr. Robert Atkins, RIP

  • This is a classic interview, right up there with Larry's interview with Marlon Brando!

  • Thanks -

  • R I P GREAT DOCTOR!!!!

  • Dr. Atkins changed my life for the best.
