Pretty Neat too, I just built my second, I went 2 X Opteron 285 90nm 2.6Ghz Dual core so 4 Cores with 6GB ECC DDR333 REG Ram 10.6GB/s, HD4870 1GB Sonic, X-Fi Extreme 7.1 Sound Card, Raid Raptor 37GBs Raid 0 two disks + 500GB Storage, Wifi and case fans and all.
$750, I love ebay.
I went for a server and turned it into a Gamer, as the K8N-DL Motherboard I have supports PCI-E. And once I have gone Dual CPU I aint going back haha!.
not a bad rig, I like the wiring, very clean and gives excellent air flow, you might want to see about other cooling options to OC, you'll get the most out of your rig this way
hey man...just an opinion, but maybe you should go for the 790i chipsets, heard they way more stable. and since the price ain't that diff, a Q9300 would be a decent upgrade
I just built my first gaming rig too :D. Here are my ones specs: Asus P5E3 Motherboard Intel Q6600 2.4GHz Quad Core Processor Club3D (ATI) Radeon HD 3870X2 1GB (800MHz processor, 1800MHz RAM 4GB OCZ DDR3 RAM 1333MHz 2x Maxtor 500GB HDD 22inch Widescreen monitor (LCD, max res: 1680x1050) 1200W Thermaltake Toughpower Modular PSU Thermaltake Upgraded Armor Case, Silver (with 25cm Side fan, 2x Blue LED 120mm Fans, 2x normal 90mm fans and Intrusion Detection) Vista Home Premium OS
how the heck is this a gaming rig?? everything is stock cooled and stock clocked. i'd call it a machine that handles office 07 very well. and whats with people buying 4Gbs of RAM?? it gives an AMAZING 3% difference!!!!
You don't have to have aftermarket cooling, and/or overclock your stuff to have a gaming rig. A gaming rig is a computer that will run the games you like to play at good frame rates. And why not 4GB of ram? If you have the money there is no reason not to get it. Or if you have have vista its worth the extra money. You're stupid and simple minded. You dont need to spend $2000 on a computer to play games.
when u put the word 'gaming' in there. as defined by all computer parts manufacturers it tends to mnea 'high end'. this just ain't a 'gaming rig' . even with vista, it doesnt need more than 2Gb, it just doesnt. spend the extra money on an aftermarket cooler. peace
Aftermarket coolers are not needed unless you overclock. And i have vista and i exceed 2GB of ram all the time. Vista uses almost 1GB at idle, and when you factor in antivirus, maybe a VOIP program, media player and a game at the same time, you can eaisly exceed 2GB of RAM. They have parts that they call "ultimate for gaming" but they are not needed. Once again, if you computer runs the games you play at good framerates, than it IS a gaming rig.
a gaming rig is a pc that has been built to play games. i.e. a good cpu, good amount of ram, graphics card. you dont need really expensive parts and watercooling for a gaming rig.
:P, Uber Machine lol. Theres not much difference in the specs of my computer and his, only a change in graphics card that is major (Generally, his 3GHz Core2Duo will perform better as most multithreaded games (there aren't many of those games) run better on 2 cores (its sad, but true). Also, I didn't want to get DDR3 but I was forced to by my Mboard. I am just getting set for the future, cos I am not usually one to constantly upgrade. :)
I have 2gigs ram and use it all, I need 4 gigs as this is the bottle neck of my pc, what do you mean by every is stock cooled ok the cpu has a stock fan but my friend has overclocked his q6600 with the stock cooler to 3ghz, and if you'd call this a machine that handles office 07 very well, then you are retarded/ you haven't got a clue what you are talking about.
@speckofdust21 dude i have a pentium 3 gaming rig that i custom built and it kicks fucking ass for it's age so you go on somewhere you have no idea what your saying this is a gaming pc.
