@MegaNINJAKING That is not a tiger muskie. I worked with the Minnesota DNR's foremost muskie expert and have fished muskies for 18 years myself. The markings are similar to a tiger hybrid but not quite the same.
Irregardless of what others say about the size, you landed a damn nice musky on light tackle which makes the catch and the battle that much sweeeeeter!! The fishing Gods were with you that day.
My g-pa caught one on leech lake trolling for walleye he was 81 years old had a FLEXI ROD!! And was using an #5 shad the Muskie took an hour to reel in and it actually broke the shad in half! Too bad wen he got in the boat it was 20 pounds but it was 45 inches long IT WAS TOO SHORT! :(
Muskie love leeches, I catch them on a 1/4 ounce black mister twister all the time, Good catch thou without steel leader, or did you,,, Good job,, I think the guy netting the fish got in the way more than helped thou, you have to just let them come to you and they do,, check out my videos,, kidskicksforchrist
Those Yamaha V-max's are nice motors. I'm also impressed they way they left her in the net instead of dragging it in the bottom of the boat right away, assuming they released it (hopefully) otherwise all for not.
Its a nice Muskie, but its not a giant. I have caught northerns larger than that on Leech lake MN. I hope you did the right thing and released him because some day he will become a giant.
@tmkrjk It was released safe & sound. no need to keep really any fish anymore with how good replicas are.....just get a few good photos & measurements quick then back in the water
@tmkrjk Why do people always come on and talk about how much bigger the fish they caught were? I and everyone here, is very happy for your "giant" Leech Lake fish. All you need to say is congrats. Oh, congrats by the way, that is a really nice fish.
@tmkrjk Northerns don't grow 46+ inches in Minnesota? I'm sorry, but, I think that muskie is bigger than your northerns. I can believe you caught a 40 incher, as those are common, but around 50 inches? You must be using some giant musky bait or something.
You were very lucky he didnt bite through that light line you got on that little rod. great job. I recently got my first pike while fishin for bass on 8lb test, hooked the 2nd and he bit through the line. but again, great fish
Thanks for the compliment! In regards to the weight...I don't remember exactly, I wanna say around 18-20 pounds. We tend to try and just measure them rather than weigh them when they start getting that big. A little easier on their gills and well-being
Wow, that's huge. I caught a northern pike myself this past summer, but it was about 12 1/4 pounds and 35 inches. Yeah, that muskie is pretty impressive!
the music is very fitting

@muskiesrock1 Even if u are DNR, it's really hard to believe that's not a Tiger Muskie those stripes are identical.

Very nice job indeed landing him! We don't see many fish like that in KY.

Good thing you released him. The bigger fish are always the hardest to keep, if you keep fish. I dont.

Its a nice fish, but, its a small Muskie. A nothern pike that size would be keepable, but not a muskie. This is my humble opinion.

not really a giant, but a nice fish. It's not everyday you catch a muskie either. Especially using grubs or whatnot you were using for walleye.
