@BloxBuildingBuildups Yes, just hook it up as a midi. Can't speed up and slow down like you can with the mpc though, just play samples as is.

@bermudasound its when you join them together they turn purple i think.. not sure.

@bermudasound When you record directly into the track it is auto purple. Purple means it is locked in place to the bpm and will change tempo when you change tempo, organge will never change tempo it remains "as is."

How exactly did you make the samples faster than they were originally? I have Garageband 08 so it might be a little different since you have 09.

I've been searching around to find an easier way of slicing cause Fruity loops auto slices in many different size notes. 1/4, 1/8, 1/64 for example. So much easier as it auto slices and is automatically part of a piano roll. In addition you can play each not in different octaves/tempo with other cool effects. :(

If you have a USB keyboard, can you attach samples to keys on the usb piano keyboard (just a key controller) instead of keys on the computer's keyboard like you did here? I'd really appreciate it if anyone could answer this

@cowie86 yep you can do that. i just figured out how to a few monthes ago. when you plug in your usb keyboard it should say new audio source detected or something like that, after that go to garage band and hit new track select software instrument and then go to instrument setup select my instrument is connected with and change it to your instrument

@michaelromani I drag it into itunes and sample it within garageband using sound effects and my midi keyboard. unless i keep the cut fragments of the sample within the actual project sequencing everything is lost after i return to garageband.

@arkytekt993 I;ve never seen anyone use software that could do this. I use to have a record player and if I took the red (or) white stereo cables out it'd change the sound and take out most of the vocals.

when dragging sample chops to musical typing, do you have to "save instrument" ?? cuz i never do and im starting to think thats why when i go to open up a project im working on it says "can not find whatever instrument" and then my whole loop that i had going isnt audible at all. this has happened to me twice now and i had start my beat making project all over again. @wbivan Select the audio region and press Control-option-G. It will turn the audio region purple, allowing you to change the tempo while retaining pitch, as well as give you the ability to change the pitch while maintaining tempo.

@SmileToDaBeat GB doesn't have the capability of doing that. You can speed it up, I have a video on that, but if you do it too much, or slow it down too much it loses sound quality.

@arkytekt993 For this the color doesn't matter.  Check my later videos and you'll learn what the color indicates. You are trying to put it into a sound effect instrument like "Applause Laughter?" That is more than likely the problem, that it isn't a sound effect instrument.

You can check the mix of the song, try to take out bass/tremble a bit or pan it to the left front back right and see what happens, but I don't think it'll work. Google it. I think people claim it can be done and what I've found from people doing it is that you get a really bad audio sample of the singing with gargling things in the back.
