Ive watched just about all the episodes of Rescue 911 that I could find on Youtube and have never heard anyone panic so much on the phone. That did not help the child at all.
What a dreadful situation to be in. Brave girl. The thing that bothers me are some of the stupid and unkind comments. In the UK we have a word for such people. It begins with a and ends with e.
no one reply back to me but i know its wrong but i couldnt stop laughing when she was on the phone coz she was like yes know i dont know cmon CMON chrissy really fast and it was hard not to laugh at
Other than not knowing basic first aid her only mistake was panicking as much as she did. Panicing a little is normal, but you actually delay helping the child if the dispatcher can't understand what you're saying or you're too paniced to do what they tell you to do.
Do it! It'll so be worth it! You'll never know when you'll need it. Take First Aid classes as well. I actually had to use my skills when a friend of mine had a grand mal seizure. It felt so good when he hugged me the next time he saw me and thanked me. I need a refresher soon myself.
When I was 8 years old I was eating a small tootsie roll while I was laying on the bed and my mom had left me alone with my older brother. I started choking on the candy and didn't have the strength to go to my brother's room to get help. I couldn't breathe and was feeling dizzy. I figured the only way I was going to save myself was to keep trying to swallow the candy. After swallowing like 20 times the candy went down.
i am like the oppisite my throat is really small! lol when i was younger i was really skinny because i could not swallow any thing ( well basically nothing!)
I choked on Pizza once I almost died but my mum pitched in and she did Back blows and it all chewed up pizza came out no injury done but I was in histerics afterwards.
lol how she got all excited when he was breathing... it must have been irritating for that dude to be bitching at her to calm down. She has every right to be all happy and everything.
There are two victims in the case, the baby and the baby sitter. Imagine how scared the babysitter would feel? i was once babysitting a two year old and she started choking. it was the worst feeling or dread in my life :'(
no you wouldn't cuz if ur not calm, the other ppl wont b calm and all that time being spent on freakin out could be critical for whether or not the child will live or not
wow! good thing i dont like hotdogs! and we learned how to do baby CPR in class.turn the baby over so its back is up toward you, and using the heel of your hand, give a couple of blows to the baby's back.turn the baby over.put to fingers in the middle of the nipple line and press down hard, put not to hard. repeat this process, and if it doesnt work, call 911(warning,i learned this from a vid in a class, but im not specialized.this is just the general idea)
I was wondering if you had the 3rd segment from this episode where a man escapes from prison and takes a paramedic hostage. If you have that one, could you put it up?
Nothing would be worse than having something happen to a child left in your care when it is not your own child. I used to babysit when I was about her age and that would have been my worst nightmare.
Here's a personal story my cousin choked on a hotdog his name was Amos Bell, and here's how it happened he was eating a hotdog and someone bumped into him, he's now an adult., this happened before the segment even was shown.
yeah...when i wuz littler like when i wuz in kidnergarten, i always took the skin off my hot dog(i dont like them now). i think i saved my life in kidnergarten
hot dogs are the best meat ever, how can you choke on that

Agree....that baby was way too young to have a hot dog. She should have given him something softer, like applesauce

That must have been really scary for her b/c she was so young. I admit she was a bit too panicky.... But I can't say I wouldn't have panicked too.

auburn4wins 4 years ago
Good question!! Anything but hard food like a hot dog! The hot dog was cut up, but how did he still choke??
happy7117 4 years ago
Even if you cut up a hotdog, the skin is still thick enough to catch when it's being swallowed.
Grapes do the same thing, strangely enough.

For a kid that age, I guess you can't beat applesauce. Or even green beans- it's good for them anyway. ANYTHING but friggin hot dog!
