yes is better overall, hes great. Very good. bruford makes so many mistakes god! hes good no doubt, but hes loose sometimes, Neil hits the drums as a drummer should hit the drums. Like Kirk convington for exemple....beautiful :)

Neil Peart is a fantastic drummer and doesn't show it during Rush shows or music because he plays what fits and what sounds the best to the people listening... which makes him even better than his playing alone.
I had a conversation with a drum tech today at the music shop I get my supplies from. He told me about this Bruford guy from King Crimson. My favorite player is Peart. Peart likes Bruford so I figured I would check this out. The tech said Bruford is wayyyy better than Peart. I think he's probably better in terms of stickwork (and we could debate that) but Peart is better in terms of dynamics and overall musicality (wayyyy better).
I would say no way to the Peart comment about being wayyy better than Bruford but you really shouldn't compare guys like that in terms of better or worse - they have different styles. Bruford has played so many different styles over the years. Bruford plays straight jazz now and is breaking new ground. But with the exception of the Buddy Rich concerts, Peart sticks to the same comfy songs for the most part. But he did smoke on the big band stuff at the Rich shows.

I remember hearing Gamalon on WFNX in Boston back in 1987 or 88. Loved the variety of styles that the two guitarists created for the group. Nice to see you still making music.

Peart musicality? Rush is an average pantomime of Yes at best. oftimes straight up copying them.
