Exactly right. I remember how my grandfather thought Hendrix sounded just like noise. Later, after he tuned his ears, he appreciated Hendrix.

I think that is often true for musicians who create a new sound. It sounds awful to a the audiences at first.

I don't remember which one, but I think one of the classical composers started a riot when he first debuted his composition. Later on, they loved it.
