Anthony Dowell and Antony Tudor Discuss the Creation of 'Shadowplay (1967)

Antony Tudor knew what he wanted and knew how to get it. Great post Nick, we hear enough to get the approach of his genius. Dowell I can imagine was perfect because he was a piece of unspoiled clay in Tudor's hands. It is a pity no footage exists. Thanks for this great post of a great choreographer and his subject.

hi danny - yep, a very determined kind of person - and he seemed to enjoy being difficult and knew he was being so - he seemed to delight in dowell probably thinking he was a nutter. i was very pleased to find this bit of film of the great choreographer - i realise i have the makarova I/V but on video tape :< - i recorded the 'ballerina' series from TV. i agree he must have seen dowell as young and talented - not a threat being so young - so he seemed good to him, glad you liked the post! cheers

@nickwallacesmith - You would have to transfer the VHS to DVD to post on your channel which is a good idea to do because in time those old VHS fade badly.

hi Qbendanny - i have a friend who has the software to transfer from VHS to avi file format - must do it and upload it here - there's a lot of interesting section of the series - haven't seen it lately - be nice to meet it again!
