My great grandfather and his 3 other brothers fought in ww1 for England. Only him and his older brother lived. His oldest brother was a lewis gunner or amachine gunner, one died as a pilotfor the RAF, the other died in galipoli, and my great grandpa was a infantry unit from 1915-1918, he was in ypres, and the somme and some other ones too

Yeah. Later on in the war they changed their helmets so they didn't have the points, mainly because the ones with points were pretty much useless when it came to dealing with shrapnel.

they were more a danger. when they are in the trenches and tried to look over the parapet, british snipers easily saw them with that spike on top and then BANG!!. one less soldier to deal with.
