Wow, when I lived in Mulberry I wanted to do the same thing. I lived on NW 9th st in a duplex right by the tracks so naturally I walked on them all the time. I always how cool it would be put a layout together. Although I wasn't sure of exactly what to layout. There is a yard up in Lakeland, I think, that I had accidentally ended up in one time and that would have been cool to layout, but would have been huge.
Hey very nice video and layout. Those units look great! Question are you running sound on both units at the same time? If so what happenes when you use the bell or horn? Does both bells or horns go off at the same time? How do you go about fixing that if that happens? I finally got my first decoder the other day for my atlas U23B. I will put a video up once I get it setup. Ever use digitrax decoders? You can custom make sounds for the decoder. Pretty cool. Have a great day.
both have QSI, but you have to go in the setting and put the 2nd unit to END or Helper setting it mutes the horn and the bell but not all the other sounds :engine pump sounds ect. Theres a few different set ups : NORMAL, LEAD, MID, END, HELPER if need more info let me kno..i dont use DCC at all rite now but mayb sometime soon
Thanks for the info. I did not know you could do all that without DCC. Sounds great. I'll put up a video once I get my decoder programed. Have a great day!
yea i run on DC u have to have a special controller to work the sounds and be able to program them more acurate, but it only runs QSI engines but Athearn has a remote that comes with most Genesis series so u can run them on dc
What is the size of your layout? It's cool! I was just talking to someone the other day, and mentioned that someone should model the phosphate mines and CSX train, and here it is!
Those seem to be everywhere, but my fav plant to see is the Green bay mine,so much traffic for one area!I forget which train number, but use to it had one SD70M with about 10-29 of those with a caboose for reverse moves.
Dude this is one cool layout
