do cover bands who perform live have permission from the original Band. some kind of contract to use the name etc etc, how does this work, and why would PF agree on such projects. there shouldn't be sequels to great works.

@cloudchaser07 - It depends what level the band is that you're paying tribute to. For example, bands like The Police, Journey, AC/DC, Van Halen, Pink Floyd, U2, Judas Priest, etc, that are still able to play arenas and the like, are usually cool about it and consider it an honor - which is exactly what it is. Conversely, bands that are lower on the rung and are playing the same venues as their tributes, can be total dicks about it for obvious reasons. The morale here; tribute a big band...lol!
