Alberta sucks. It's and isolated shit hole. All people do there is get drunk at crappy bars and fucking go looking for bears. You can't beat eastern timezone. New York and Toronto forever!
Yeah I love the smog and crime infested ratpiles you referred to as well. In fact my favorite part is paying PST on every fing thing that people can sell me.
i live in a small town north of edmonton called Willingdon. 350 people and 2 minutes walking any direction ur in the middle of no where in the country.
i so wanna go their someday, its so beautiful, the scenery in brokeback mountain was absolutely stunning and was definitely one of the best things about the movie

Guess what dickweed, Alberta is a landlocked province meaning: NO OCEAN=NO MARINE MAMMALS.
and personally as a Canadian, I wouldn't mind if the tourests fucked off for a while because there crown the streets like mosquitos and leave there garbage everywhere.
Thanks for the info, Paul. I hadn´t seen findingbrokebackdotcom before. What a great site. It will serve as both a guide and an inspiration for sure. And all the lovely pictures...wow. They almost own a supernatural beauty, it´s almost hard to believe such places really exist.
I´ma definately gonna try and rent a car then, I don´t wanna miss out.
wow that´s really beautiful. I´m planning a trip to visit Brokeback Mountain locations this summer. Does anyone know if it´s possible to go by bus to the different locations or if it´s neccesary to rent a car? (which I have a feeling it is?)
Hi Monika - Yes, you will want to rent a car to make the most of visiting the film's locations as they are scattered about southern Alberta, both in small towns and somewhat remote mountain locales. If having a car is not possible, then make your way to Canmore and stay there -- the mountains around there will give you the singularly best overall taste of Brokeback, imo.
Albertans are too "American" for me. You guys talk and vote like americans....you guys have the same war mongers, religious nut cases, and pro-bush bs...you've even developed a southern accent and it's so fucking fake. Canada needs to send alberta to join the united states.
You know, I live in Fort Vermilion, AB, and I have to agree. It's friggin true. 40% of the population here are Mennonite, there are "Support Our Troops" stickers on EVERYTHING, Ft V is in "MacKenzie COUNTY" (complete with a Sherriff), and several stores have signed pictures of G.W... er, Stephen Harper on their walls. Usually next to the gunrack.
my step dad and i and my mom drove to alberta one time and we got so lost outside of Calgary on our way to Saskatchewen and ended up going throught Heather, we're from BC so yeah LOL it was funny, we had to take this detuour and got all fucked up
Gorgeous pics, I went to the rockies in 04, and stayed in Jasper. Im still having withdrawls! I would go back tomorrow just for a few hours of the mountains, Im from london, 9hr flight! lol
Absolutley amazing place and your video brought back some precious memories, thanks for sharing :)
Not that is not really important, but Alberta is a Province, not a State. By comparison, it is about the same size of Texas. And like Texas, it has a diverse economy centered on gas/oil and cattle.
What a great surprise - found this video and it´s real great. Found the love of my life overthere and plan on getting relocated from Germany to that wonderful place pretty soon. Thank you.
Very happy to hear that you all love Alberta so much - but it's not all gold that shines. I am not talking about the harsh winter climate, nature is afterall beautiful in all it's forms (and temperatures). But people and industry are a problem. There are roadcuts, pipelines, drilling rigs, oil wells, throughout our beautiful mountains and unless it's a National Park it's all fair game for industry.
We are destroying our long term assets above ground for the short term profits below. It's got to stop, otherwise our children won't have what we have presently.
although it's sad to see so much of our land being destroyed, Natural resourses have to come from somewhere. and it's responsible for our great economy.
you chose the perfect song for it. a deep, heart-feeling, highly intense.. emotional, epic song. Did you guys visit any filming locations? because of the movie, it's becoming a lot of fan's dreams, to visit the actual filming locations.
thanks for sharing your pictures. it's touching people's lives, and makes them want to go even more.. into that sort of Heaven.
i am in absolute awe. One of these days, i'm gonna visit those beautiful Alberta mountains, where the luscious green grass grows.. where the raw wilderness lives, untouched by man, a place "where the blue birds sing, and there's a whisky spring". Because of the movie, I too, have plans to visit and camp out at the mountains. Someday. someday. perhaps when I find that certain somebody, to go with... sigh.
Alberta... so beutifull. Until your balls freeze and fall off becaue it's -40 with a windchill factor and the roads are closed beacuase there is 3 feet of snow and your going insane because of isolation.
I'm so glad I live here. I have time to get tot the top of one more mountain before winter sets in. This makes me want to go back even more and get more videos from the tops of mountains.
I don't know if this is a Brokeback Mountian thing, but...I would just like to say that this music is very emotional. That movie, was an epic love story. It was so intense and emotional. You forgot they were 2 guys. You just saw the love they felt for eachother. That's what it's all about. Love, not the sex. ;) Love the song. Makes me want to cry. Good job.
Get ready for the most god damn cold weather and pcycological isolation you've ever experianced. Yeah the pictures are pretty but the lifestyle is different.
Actually, my second choice for music was "Alberta Bound" - the Gordon Lightfoot version: "Oh the prairie light is burnin' bright. The Chinook wind is moving in, tomorrow night I'll be Alberta bound. Though I've done the best I could my old luck ain't been so good. Tomorrow night I'll be Alberta bound...Alberta bound, it's good to be Alberta bound."
My soul aches for a pilgrimage to this place. BBM has put a yearning in my heart to get to this place, before I die. Brokeback Mountain is so very close in my mine now. Thanks for your beautiful scenes set to the music that I just may have played at my funeral.
Thanks for the heartfelt response, Cameron. Calgary is as close as a plane-trip and all the sites are within two-hours' reach from there. So don't put it off; live for today and plan accordingly. Cheers!

it's called moraine lake in Alberta. so beatiful, and it actually is that blue close up. it's so clean.
jettisom 4 years ago
It's mineral deposits that run off the maountain slopes that make the water blue.
