SRY I HAD TO PUT THIS! plz don't read WARNING! DO NOT READ!
In 1876, a young girl named Jenn was walking down a river, an insane man killed her by stabbing her in the back, raping her, and then hanging her in his closet. Now that you have read this message, she will haunt your house for 5 years. Every night when you go to sleep she will appear in your closet, hanging their with her glowing red eyes.
Had my Momentum drilled up tonight. WOWZERS! What a BEAST once it hits dry in the back ends. Some what too much hook, had trouble controlling the breakpoint. Hits like a truck!
Must have ball for people looking for more snap in the backends. A+++
I got this ball for christmas and it has to be the best ball i've ever owned (i have an action attack and a wicked too). this ball makes me look like a cranker just by the way it looks going down the lane. Anyone else notice this? also, does anyone have a better picture of the core because i can't see how such a simpler looking core creates such awesome rotation. am i not seeing something in the picture?
Core Design: The Momentum's symmetrical core is also found in the Resurgence. The RG is super low at 2.46, which helps it start up quickly and easily. The Diff is conservative at .043, which gives about 4" of track flare with 3", 4" and 5" pin layouts. The conservative Diff is warranted as the coverstock is very aggressive. Too much flare and the ball could quit on he backend. The Momentum should perform well on all PBA Experience patterns, except the Shark.
I think the reason this ball reacts so strong on the backend is partly due to the core/coverstock configuration. When you get a larger core like the one in the Momentum, they tend to pick up revs a bit sooner than a smaller, more dense core. BUT...when you pair a larger core of this nature with an aggressive coverstock that's designed for skid/snap, the reaction is insane. The cover gives it the length, but the core makes the ball "rev-up" and grab the backends. Just my take on it. Cheers!
I use this ball inbetween my Gamebreaker and Bash, and as long it is a monster. I absolutely love it. It does have some hook too it, but not as much as the gamebreaker, although dulled up im sure it could handle much heavier volumes of oil. I like to keep mine shined so it goes long, but this ball has tremendous carry. Id recommend it for anybody.
I throw the ball similar to the 3rd guy in the vid, Tony Cox. The Momentum for me was about 3-5 feet earlier breakpoint than a Widow Pearl, but (for me, anyhow) has an extremely sharp breakpoint, very angular. I have thrown both, and the Widow Pearl is a touch too much length for me. The Momentum with its larger weightblock spins up a bit sooner. I love my Momentum, Columbia has a winner here.
On an average league condition, I think the ball does pretty well, but for heavy oil, it might go a bit long on you...I bowl in a house where they clean the backends maybe once a month (if that) and it tends to push a bit long unless I slow down the ball speed a little. You give this ball any kind of dry, though...watch out, it'll bank right off the dry. Cheers!
The layout is exactly the same as shown in this video. Basically a label stack drill with a positive shift. I liked the ball reaction so well in this video, that I drilled my Momentum the same way. When I bowl on a shot with any kind of backend, this ball jumps hard left at the breakpoint.
just because you throw the ball on a straight line doesnt mean u dont crank. u just throw a lighter break ball so it hits the pocket the same as would a heavier break ball when u throw a strong hook
That jeremy character needs to learn the right way to hook the ball, he looks like he throwing a back up ball half the time. All that elbow bend= yikes.
haterwildkat its not about your revs to consider if your a stroker, tweener, or cranker its how many boards you cover on a shot. You can throw 435 with a momentum and throw 435 revs with a white dot and the outcome will obviously be different.
to determine whether you're a stroker, tweener, or cranker, it depends on how many RPMS you get on the ball, Chris Barnes is a cranker, but lately he has been playing a straighter line on the PBA tour
yes, that would make you a cranker. I dont remember exactly how many revs go towards each category, but i think its something like this; Stroker: 0-149 rpms, Tweener: 150-349 rpms, Cranker: 350+ rpms
u guys bowl on wood lanes???????
sure as hell looks like it

How does the Momentum compare against the the Black Widow Pearl?

Sweet! Thanks for the info Exit.
So does any know if the Momentum can actually handle heavy oil/league conditions well?
I tried the Resurgence on sport lane conditions tonight. What a MONSTER!

Hey Exit, what's your Momentum's drill layout roughly?

The layout is exactly the same as shown in this video. Basically a label stack drill with a positive shift. I liked the ball reaction so well in this video, that I drilled my Momentum the same way. When I bowl on a shot with any kind of backend, this ball jumps hard left at the breakpoint.

the guy that drills my balls told me that this ball is like a skined resurgence, that true?
metshorriblecollapse 4 years ago
Shined*
metshorriblecollapse 4 years ago
quite true, i have this ball and i know that it's core is the same as the resurgence
the difference lies in the coverstock which gives it more control

barnes is no cranker, hes a tweener at most. if you want a cranker tyake a look at wes malott or tommy jones
metshorriblecollapse 4 years ago
what are your rev rates??? mine is 435 rpm on average, i think that is a cranker right???

r u so sure that these standards are so low? crankers usually get around 400-600++rpm
tweeners around 330-380rpm
strokers can get to 300 over rpm
i m stroking and get 300-330 rpm with 17-18mph ball speed.
