@Samimiamiv1 Absolutely. As with every vehicle on the road, they have their weak points, but overall, they are probably the best bang for the buck on the market.
The weak point in the 04-06 GTO's were the suspension. Stock springs tend to sag over time and bushing become lax causing premature tire wear on the rears. Get that fixed up and it'll chug away for a long time.
@UnderJOath ok ic cause ive seen some in good condition on craigslist for a good price but i really need a reliable car but like the gto cause it's an iconic muscle car that not many people appreciate
@Samimiamiv1 It is reliable. I wouldn't drive it in the snow, though, unless you get some decent snow tires. If you don't have to worry about snow, then good for you, haha.
I would like to find one of these in my 04 Mach 1 I just bought, BTW what engine is in it? I thought a cammed Ls1 would make bigger numbers on the dyno
Its an LS2 - This run was pre-cam. All dyno runs were done w/ the converter unlocked so the numbers are usually ~20rwhp lower. I SHOULD be running mid-low 12's but like you...I have traction problems. Damn cars come with 235's. Too small for a 200rwhp car.
o, i thought it was an ls2, theres some gtos around my place with big cams and a twin turbo, they are all around or over 500 hp, but idk if theyre ls1's or 2's
Yea - I'd love some vids of my car from the outside. I'll have to promise the GF a day of shopping for her to hold a camera for my car though, haha. Cam is set to go in August 1st. :D
hey ar these cars pretty reliable?

Thats cool. There are some monsters around this area too. I can't do that though. I drive this thing year round through Chicago winters. Haha.

you mean 300+ right?

Those too. What I meant was 235s are even too small for cars with substantially less power.
UnderJOath 2 years ago
agreed, can you stuff some 275's under there?
