This line up toured Poland at the time of political and economic unrest. Nicky Garratt said to have played their biggest audiences there, around 5,000 to 10,000 crowds or maybe more.
for me personaly as an aging punk, the subs are the best punk band of all time.never of the road, keeping the punk flag flying.brilliant, seen em many times since 1980 onwards.
Charlie and Nicky are the only two orifginal members nowadays, at least when touring the U.S. because Nicky lives in America. I've heard that there's a differnt line up four European gigs. I did happen to see a reuinion of the original "Crash Course" line up, featurig Alvin Gibbs on bass, about five or six years ago!
@buckthreat Alvin Gibbs wasn't on Crash Course - that was recorded in May 1980 just before Pete Davies drummer and Paul Slack bassist on first 2 albums - Another Kinda Blues & Brand New Age left. In Sept 1980, Party in Paris 7" was released featuring new bass palyer Alvin Gibbs -playing on above clip. The new drummer was Steve Roberts - an amazing powerhouse - they did Diminished Responsibility and Endangered Speicies albums. The band split in Feb 1983.
@pancrack forgot to mention - Steve Roberts was sacked in 82 and replaced by Kim Wylie aka Jon Towe (ex- Adverts & Chelsea) and they did the Shake Up The City Ep and the Shake Up the World tour in late 82. I saw em on this tour and they were fkn amazing! fkn wild. Charlie returned with 3 new members and a new lp Flood of lies in late 83 and it was utter shite. End of.
@pancrack And Kim Wylie plays on the above clip recorded during the Shake Up the world tour. This TV special as rare and good as it is, isnt a patch on the live gig i saw!

@toasty138 Wrong, it is the same bass player cos I've seen him play twice with the UK Subs in the last 12 months. His name is Alvin Gibbs.
