Tonga's invasions reached Wallis/Futuna, Anuta of the Solomons, parts of Tuvalu, Lau groups of Fiji, western islands of Samoa, Niue, Rotuma, parts of New Caledonia. Only Samoa & Futuna were able to kick Tonga out. The other island nations mentioned, Tonga just evolved to be part of each of their respective cultures. I do believe most of Tonga originated from Samoa, but Tonga became it's own WARRIOR nation, which is why we are the only untouched Indigenous Kingdom in the Pacific!

yes well my point was, most people say another island stole another islands dance which infact is wrong. 100s of years of inter-island trading and interaction eventually ended in all the polynesian cultures mixing and sharing certain cultural aspects (dances, customs, languages, etc.) So we pretty much all have a mix of each others culture, and its stupid to argue who took what because no one knows that for sure.

@bossolevu you are correct but it was Tui Manu'a of Eastern Samoa who ruled most of the pacific including Tonga etc..... Western Samoa also ruled other islands etc but the most influential rule was the Tui Manu'a Empire that stretched to parts of Melanesia, Polynesia and also Micronesia.

Another thing: If you refer to Samoa's history... Many of their chants lyrics mention lotsa animosity of Toga (Tonga) for example "smash a tongan" or other chants mentioning how Tonga is always ready to fight yet Samoa is ready to kick our asses. NOt to mention "Malie Tau, Malie To'a"... A tongan phrase yelled out by the last Tongan regime/governor as they were fleeing & chased out of Samoa. Tonga's invasions reached Wallis/Futuna, Anuta of the Solomons, parts of Tuvalu, Lau groups of Fiji, western islands of Samoa, Niue, Rotuma, parts of New Caledonia. Only Samoa & Futuna were able to kick Tonga out. The other island nations mentioned, Tonga just evolved to be part of each of their respective cultures. I do believe most of Tonga originated from Samoa, but Tonga became it's own WARRIOR nation, which is why we are the only untouched Indigenous Kingdom in the Pacific!

This Samoan daughter was married to one of the many "tu'i" whom reminded her son "Ngata" whom climbed up to be King of HIHIFO ... Ok the guy who narrates this story is wrong. Sad but true. Fiji was NEVER under the leadership of Tonga! Ma'afu of Tonga only ruled the Lau Group or the Eastern parts of Fiji until Ratu Cakobau dispprove the leadership of a Tongan in Fisi. This led to tribal war and obviously the Fijian warriors won. yes well my point was, most people say another island stole another islands dance which infact is wrong. 100s of years of inter-island trading and interaction eventually ended in all the polynesian cultures mixing and sharing certain cultural aspects (dances, customs, languages, etc.) So we pretty much all have a mix of each others culture, and its stupid to argue who took what because no one knows that for sure.
