  • they are made in taiwan now

  • Wow. I feel lucky I bought mine. It's a hoss.

  • The Ka Bar Warthog saddly stopped production in 2008. This year in 2011, they are coming out with a new "Heavy Duty Warthog" but its not going to be made in the USA and wont have the buttcap handle :( I advise anyone who wants the actual USA made warthog to try getting one before the new CHINA ones come out and take over. Good Luck

  • @annihilus44

I agree, but the Ka bars made over seas are made in Taiwan the Knives coming out of Taiwan are very good actually, think sog and many cold steel. In general the Chinese knives are still junk in fact I think CS moved all their knife production in China back to Taiwan. The Ka bars from Taiwan should be good enough quality.

  • Yeah they finally are selling it again this year

  • @opawari I still have one available. It has never been used. If you are interested send me a PM on YT.

  • I own one of these its a good knife.

  • If anyone has this knife in there collection and is willing to sell it please contact me at ccd5@humboldt.edu I want one as my daily use knife. This exact knife only

  • wtf??? why in the world did they discontinue the fixed version? DAMNIT!

I have one, but now feel I'll look into something else instead of beating the crap out of it since you can't find them now.

  • not a warthog

  • The fighting/utility knife is longer and more slender. Visit Ka-bars website and you will see.

  • They make both a folding and fixed blade version of the warthog. This fixed blade warthog is no longer in production. Do research before you post a comment.

  • @edgedweapon88 owned lol

  • @edgedweapon88 why do they no longer make fixed blade versions?

  • @xBangergoosEx No, if you knew anything about kA-bar knives, you would know they have a fixed and folding version of the knife. The fixed, like the one shown in the video has been discontinued. The fighting/utility ones are 7 inch blades, Not as thick as this blade. Warthog = short and fat, Fighter = long and skinny.

  • @mrCrispy725

funny because i have both. Since this one has been discontinued, i didnt recognize it and i was mistaken. but i forgot that everyone on YouTube is an expert.

  • @xBangergoosEx i never said i was an expert, i said you were wrong. It doesn't take an expert to prove someone wrong. You have knives for no reason? How to you own a knife, and not see it often enough to even recognize it.

  • @mrCrispy725 i have the warthog folding not the fixed. thats why i didnt recognize it.

  • @xBangergoosEx You just said you have both, by that i though you meant you had the fixed and folding warthogs.

  • I have one. I just put it on eBay as I got a smaller one for my tackle box.

    Ka-Bar makes great knives.

  • you reviewed the sheath more than the knife.

Is it stainless or carbon? what are the advantages of a shorter fatter blade? what is its intended use?

  • It is carbon a carbon blade. In my opinion a shorter fixed blade is less combersome and is more portable. It does not have the reach that a longer knife will have but there are specific applications small knives are good for. This knife was made as a jump knife for the US armed forces. That is why I talked about the sheath a lot. It is a great knife for para troops or any military personal that wants to be confident that there knife will stay attached to their gear.

  • My father has one of these that I bought him a while ago. Its still boxed with all its original papers! Its a lovely knife.

  • Ill buy that warthog fm u .

No Joke , Ive been trying to buy one but no-one online has them

  • Sorry its not for sale. I did the same thing trying to find it everywhere. I got lucky and found it at a knife shop and it was their last one. The model is discontinued so its going to be hard to find. Good luck in your search!

  • thanks anyway .

  • yourcornerstore(.)com is your friend

  • I found one onlinestore that sells them! :D

  • NICE!! what online store has them:)

  • No! I wont tell anyone! They're all mine!

    (PS check pm)

  • Bests knife I've ever owned. Yours looks pretty new, have you been able to use it much since you uploaded the video? Perfect for the kind of camping I do. You might also want to edit the description to note that KA-BAR has discontinued the fixed blade variation on this knife, they only make folders now.

  • I dont use mine... It is more of a collector piece for me. I have a RAT RC6 that i use when I go camping. Yea it took me a while to find this one since it was discontinued.

  • can you chop good with it or no

  • Yessir, one of the main reasons I love to take mine camping, it's really versatile. It'll split small to medium sized logs, and take down similar trees with a bit of effort. Truly a tough knife. Btw go Canada :P

  • Canada Rocks!!

  • yes canada is the best contry for our craf

    mbut thanks for the info

  • "Our craf"

Sorry, you mean bushcraft? And yeah I was happy to help if you're thanking me, you're very welcome

  • yes lol bushcraft

    and i was thanking you

i was just wondering if its got enough weight towards the tip

cuz i got the usmc kabar and it dosent chop that well and plus its illegal to carry in canada cuz its 7 inches

  • Hrrmm... You're sure your USMC is illegal to carry in Canada? I believe that a fixed blade knife is pretty much legal to carry wherever if not stated otherwise.

Concealment is a big no though, technically even a Swiss army knife is illegal to keep carried in your pocket. Although I have to tell you this is mostly hearsay, I've been meaning to really look into these kinds of laws, just haven't found the time. Beautiful thing about Canadian knife laws is I've never seen any mention on length

  • i dont even no i heard 6" and less in the woods and 4"and less in public

then i heard that its any size with a good reason (not protection) ill say cutting stuff ahah

but ya me to ive been trying to get to the police place to see what it is

ill just call 911 they should no

  • Whoop no don't call 911, only reserved for emergencies man. I don't think that there's a difference in laws for public/bushcraft, But yeah you're definitely right that you never wanna say it's for self defense, that definitely makes it illegal to carry, you can get away with it most of the time just calling it an EDC (Everyday carry)

  • thats a fantastic knife kinda like a meat cleaver awesome ,5* for the review:)

  • Thank you for the kind comment!

  • Were did you get this beauty??? Oh and how much was it??? I found it on a website that sells it for 49.99 with synthetic glass filled nylon sheath and on the same website they have it for 64.99 with Kydex sheath!!! I was woundering what is the difference between the two because the pics they have posted show the same stuff. Please respond!!!!

  • I got mine from a local knife shop near me. I got mine for 74 but you can find it cheaper online like you did. The difference between sheaths is minor. The kydex is a hard plastic just like the glass filled nylon but the kydex in my opinion tends to be more durable and reliable. If you are going to be using the knife hard then you should get the kydex... otherwise the glass filled nylon will be just fine. If you have any other questions feel free to ask!

  • Oh man thanks alot I think I will go with the Kydex just to be safe!!! Awsome knife I have always wanted one ever since I saw it on a web site!!! I should have got it before they sold out because it was $15.00 on there and it was by KABAR with the Kydex sheath!!!

  • No problem! I hope you enjoy it!

  • I still wish I had gotten two years ago when this website was selling it for $15.00!!! Oh atleast I will have one!!!

  • that is one secure sheath, I mean the strap across the guard alone is enough, but then it has another strap and guard retainers.

  • Yea the knife wont go anywhere if it is strapped down! it is very secure.

  • They did that to make it "jump capable" for paratroops.

  • yes i said that in the video. thanks

  • i have a kabar fixed blade and i love it.

sleep with it next to my bed just in case things go bump in the night

dose anybody know about the kabar mule folding knife ive been looking at those and i think i want one

  • The Ka-bar mule folding knife is nice. I have one and have used it for many tasks and it has preformed well. If you want an even better folding knife from Ka-bar i would go with one of the FIN folders that came out in the last year. Either of them are great and will hold up for a long time.

  • OMF i do to i watched a scary movie and then i played with my knife for a bit and i wasnt scared no more and whent right to sleep ahah

  • This is a great knife, only trouble I had was the top rivet attaching the clip to the sort of pommel area came out, because I had the knife strapped to my leg, to prevent it from becoming a nuisance when I ran. Still, the wedges that lock the crosspiece in and the primary clip provided plenty of security, I never had to worry about it coming out. Unfortunately, I believe Ka-Bar has discontinued the fixed blade version of this knife. I bought mine this summer, and it's the greatest knife I own.

  • It is a great knife! It is one of my favorite fixed blades. The fixed blade version is discontinued and i am luck i was able to find it!

  • Ok, nice knife. But whats with the description? You didn't demonstrate anything, and you didn't review the knife at all. All you did was list the knife's specs and say "it's really comfortable in the hand".

  • Sorry if my description was misleading. That is the same description on all of my videos. I dont have as much time as people like nutnfancy or cutlerylover do to make a 10 min video. They tend to ramble and get off topic a lot to make a longer video most of the time. What would you like done different?

  • You don't need a whole lot of time to say "its a good knife" or "its a bad knife". You could list what you paid for it(and hopefully where you got it) and say whether or not you think it was worth the money.

  • I will try to do that in future videos. Thank you for the comments

  • Good work; I dig the looks of this knife.
