- 1)your jesus is brother to lucifer. Christian's Jesus is his creator. 2)your jesus is exalted man. Christian's Jesus is God Himself 3)your jesus born of virgin birth but impregnated by immortal man. Christian's Jesus - God incarnate begotten of the Holy Spirit 4)your god attained his "godhood" Christian's God has always been God. 5)your jesus' blood doesn't cover all sins. Christian's Jesus' blood covers ALL sin. - Your beliefs are in direct contradiction with the Word of God mormons =CULT
I once asked a Mormon missionary "Why don't you tell your contacts that you believe Jesus and Satan are brothers; that there are many Gods, and you hope one day to be a God when you are given your own planet and as many wives as you desire ?" His answer? "If we did, no one would join us". A very honest reply!
There is no temple worship today. But Mormons don't understand this. The real church is the church of the Book of Acts. Small churches in homes where everyone participates in prayer, communion, prophecy, etc.
The Jewish Temple rituals were sacred, symbolical, and future-predictive (pointing to Jesus Christ.). I believe that they are written in the books of Exodus through Deuteronomy, in detail. I don't understand why these are less sacred then the LDS rituals as the LDS rituals are not discussed? Could you help me with that?
Well, when someone says Catholicism is a cult because of "eating bread and having it symbolize the body of God" you have to explain the concept of transubstantiation. That the bread and wine actually literally becomes the body blood soul and divinity of Jesus Christ himself.
One is a fraternity and the the other is a church.
One does not provide a "plan of salvation" for its members and the other
teaches that it is only in and through Christ that mankind may be saved; through obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel: of which include:
Faith in Jesus Christ, Repentance, Baptism, and then the Laying on of Hands for the Gift of the Holy Ghost; currently available in the LDS church. Not as a Mason.
@ 3:21 - it's funny how the same scripture used to denounce anything but scripture found currently in the Bible is the VERY same one we use to suggest that "Any and All scripture as God deems FIT for mankind to have and use is inspired of by God. Even if the House of Israel were to write of their travails in the northern countries, write things while living upon the Isles of the Sea or however possible, then shouldn't we accept any and all writings so long as we pray and ask God over it?
The nuns have always warned us about cults (Jim Jones, Hari Krishnas, and worst of all Children of God.). They NEVER warned us to stay away from JW or LDS.
So...I'd rather deal with LDS with all their "false" beliefs and worship than a real cult.
There are some who would consider orthodox Christianity and other sects "cult" like as well. When we go to Mass or partake of the Lord's sacrament, eating of those emblems, to some, would also seem strange and ritualistic. Who is to say that one couldn't view the Catholic church as an odd cult for eating bread and having it symbolize the body of God, etc... Jews wearing strange clothing. Cult could mean just about ANYTHING strange or hard to understand.
He can say it because Mormonism is founded upon a cracked foundation. LDS will tell anything to make themselves look good, even if it contradicts thier original doctrines and history.
it's also stated in the Bible and all other Scriptures you're not supposed to make carved or painting representations of what's in Heaven or what's Holy i.e. Jesus,Moses,Jacob,Abraham or even Muhammed (pbut). what's with the golden angel Moroni... and the twelve calf under the Baptistry...i'm not an anti-mormon i was one who got his eyes open...sun symbols all over the place and i've been to the templ in toronto
There is nothing strange about temple rituals; they are there to make people feel they are special and it strengthens the organization. There is nothing sinister going on the ceremony any longer, not siince the church hierarchy put a stop to the grotesque oat of throad-slicing hand sign. But consider this: A non-Mormon father cannot escort her Mormon daughter down the aisle or attend the marriage ceremony. Such cruel nonsense is t otally unnecssary. You need to speak up. Don't be afraid.
svarteper2 - "You need to speak up. Don't be afraid."
*You must understand - we believe in revelation and we believe that God knows what is good for us better than we think what is good. Democracy, voting, etc. are great things - they are inspired by the Almighty, but when it comes to our salvation we chose to follow our King - the Lord Jesus Christ. We won't tell Him how His Kingdom should be run but we try to receive His instruction with humility.
Unquestioning obedience? Jawohl mein herr. God gave us a mind. Why not exercise it rather than delegate it to some authoritiy? Dare to be different. Think for yourself. LDS procedures have been changed before and they will chanage again. Why? Because of necessity, that's why. Look at the temple rites today compared to the grotesque circus of a few years ago. And the change of the racial doctrine. More changes are coming. Thinking men and women will make these changes, not silent robots.
exactly right the last religious orginization that thought that way was put out by the French King and the Pope, on Friday the 13th. Orginized religion keeps a hold on its followers by telling them that are two types of people, the religious who do not question the thoughts of God and others who are atheist and are going to hell. This is not true though, God does want us to think that is why He gave us a mind and atheist if they are good people will go to heaven before Christians who are bad
(1) I agree with you completely when it comes to almost all organizations. I am Polish and I am proud of my people who 20 years or so ago dared to rebel against the Communistic oppression. Now the whole Europe enjoys freedom and prosperity.
In God's Kingdom the King is perfect so there is no reason to question His decisions. But even then God has never required blind obedience. For me it works well - He has given me an unquestionable witness that He is in charge and I do my best to follow Him.
Are you following God? or what someone said God said? Is that source a reliable source, have you checked it and compared it to what is good and true? I hope you do, maybe through in some of your own logic as well. God gave us all the ability to question and check all things; I think you really need to do so please.
Not for me or your church, but for yourself and God. Unless you think God does not deserve you seeking the truth.
(2) ...I guess the real question is: Is the organization I am talking about really led by God himself or is it one of thousands of imitations? If you are a Christian - I think you will agree that the Church we read about in the NT was led by God. But what happened to that Church? History of Christianity shows that it was gone after the last apostle was murdered.
All I can do is testify that I know that the same Church of Jesus Christ was restored in our days.
The last apostle was murdered? was that John? When did he die and how? In D&C section 7 Joseph Smith said that the Apostle John is still alive somewhere on the earth.
The Apostle Paul wrote: "Unto Him (God) be glory in the Church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end Amen" (Ephesians 3:21). Could that be true if there was a universal apostasy of the church for several centuries?
Oh, I was simply referring to your comment in the video that the Temple is a place that we can escape all the "distractions and commotion" in the world.
And you simply talking about the blessings of the Temple has attracted those people who delight in causing commotion and distracting people from what's really important!
Gospel means good news right? How can the gospel of the church be good news when there is NO freedom. Priesthood leaders make sure everyone understands "their authority, rule and condemnation". Jesus came to set us free from the bonds of men and religion.
Throughout the history of the church, members as well as leaders have been told that all other Christian sects are corrupt. Starting in the 1970s members wanted to be called Christian and want to be accepted into the community. Condemning statements about Christain pastors and evangelical churches will not put the LDS church into the body of Christ and never will. God told Joseph that all others were an abomination. I know God didn't say this, but you do and thus you have to live with it.
GiftoAll:"Starting in the 1970s members wanted to be called Christian"
This was published in 1829:
"And those who did belong to the church were faithful; yea, all those who were true believers in Christ took upon them, gladly, the name of Christ, or CHRISTIANS as they were called, because of their belief in Christ who should come."(Alma 46:15)
BTW: We still call those who "draw near to [God] with their lips, but their hearts are far from [Him]" CORRUPT.
There was a great Christian conversion during the 70s along with the hippie era. This is why I mentioned it and the church again wanted to belong to the Christian community. Does it really matter if you think Jesus is your spirit brother or he is the almighty God? Who else could have lived a perfect life, performed miracles and rejected Satan? Is it more important to be Christ like or have faith and assurance in the God who has saved us? LDS doctrine destroys the Gift of Grace. Look in the Bible
You are talking about being "free from righteousness"(Rom. 6:20). Jesus' apostles help us to be "free from sin" (v.18, 22).
You should know that our leaders respect our freedom to choose. All they do is what the prophets of the Bible did - they teach us God's word and let us govern ourselves.
I know some people who don't feel comfortable when they hear or read all those things about living chase life, being honest, serve others, etc. They like to complain about lack of freedom, etc. Oh well.
Freudian slip or typo? chase life. How could you define freedom by constant works? If the church came out and said all of these works aren't necessary for salvation but needed to keep the organization going, that would be different. Living the word of wisdom and being honest is not exclusive with the church, the church lets everyone know about it. Why didn't Jesus ever say, "don't drink wine"? He said it's not important what goes into a person but what comes out. Freedom is being free.
*I never said that only people who follow living prophets are sexually pure, honest, etc. I was just saying that the apostles have always called people to keep commandments.
*Jesus did say not to drink wine.
*We are free to do anything we want, but we are not free from the consequences of our actions. You are free to jump from a high bldg. but you can't choose to survive, etc. You cannot change eternal laws (like - the law of gravity).
Fermented wine. The pharasees accused Jesus of being a wine bibber. He did drink wine. It is a good thing to take all in moderation. Joseph Smith drank and smoked on occasion. It is not a good thing to stand in moral judgement from the use of alcohol, tobacco, tea, coffee, red meat as a sin. This is a foolish idea as well as Gods' condemnation in the doctrine of the LDS church of colored people. They are all of his creations. Do you have the right to criticize his work?
Who did Jesus help? The sick, disturbed, the sinners. Who did he criticize? The pharasees, publicans, the pious self righteous. Would Jesus approve of a people that believed they were closer to God because they kept another law which made them unique and separate from other sinners? The Jews also thought they were closer to God because of the Law and their unique society. Christ was and is the only one worthy. It should never be praise to da man in a religious setting. It should be honor to man.
*I never said Jesus didn't drink wine (although - unlike you, I never had a chance to check if it was fermented or not).
*In 1833 Jesus gave the world what He called "The Word of Wisdom" where He told us "not by commandment", but by the word of wisdom that "strong drinks are not for the belly" (D&C 89:7), etc.
*The Word of Wisdom didn't become a commandment and a requirement for membership until the beg. of 1900s.
*Unlike many protestants, Mormons never condemned colored people.
Jesus never gave mankind the word of wisdom, it was Joseph Smith along with his multi wife doctrine 132.
If you look closely at the book of Isaiah written into the book of mormon, it reads like a King James Bible. Linguists have found mistakes in our current King James and the BookofMormon has the same MISTAKES! What more do you want? The Bookofmormon never came from plates, it came from available sources of Josephs day.
"Jesus never gave mankind the word of wisdom, it was Joseph Smith"
Well, for a false prophet - he was right on. Millions of people have been blessed by avoiding substances that the world had to wait for over a century to find out that they are harmful to human body.
Joseph Smith was right on countless of things. If he was a false prophet - he was extremely lucky. We should follow him anyway.
The gospel that the missionaries tell is a completely different story than the Bible. The original word of God tells a story of an infinite glorious creator. It never says anything about God living on another planet and being tempted or sinning. All of these temples and churches are nothing more than the praise and exhaltation of MAN, not God! This is the reason Joseph Smith was wrong and he did ADD to the word of God.
"The gospel that the missionaries tell is a completely different story than the Bible."
Well, you shouldn't really pay attention to those missionaries, because they were probably the Anti-Mormons. Only the Anti-Mormons spread such rumors that Mormons believe God used to be a sinful man, etc.
You are not LDS, you have never been in our temples, probably all you know about as you got from those who oppose us. Would it be fair to say - you don't know much about us or our temples?
In the Jewish temples of old the priests made sacrifices for the sins of the people. When Jesus came and made the final sacrifice the veil was torn in half and there was no longer a need for a temple. The LDS temples of today have nothing to do with the old temples. They are buildings for instruction to the members and have nothing to do with Gods grace. Hey, is the angel Moroni still going to blow his horn at the Saviors return?
GiftoAll - thank you for your comments. I respect your opinions. Obviously we differ.
For someone who didn't live in ancient times and wasn't one of very few who was allowed to participate in ancient temple ordinances - you know a lot about what they did. I am impressed! Should I call you a prophet?
4:49 yes, you have your own mind UNTIL you join the LDS church and are told what to think, believe, read, who to associate with and what underwear to wear.
Yes, judge them by their fruits. Mormons fruits: Mountain Meadows Massacre (google it!)Sexism, Racism, Plural Marriage, Blood Atonement, Secret (continually changing) ceremonies, changing doctrines, censorship, God living a polygamous life on a planet near the star *Kolob,* Masonic temple rituals.... ...shall I go on?!
If you want to go on with your inaccuracies then sure, go on. There are only 2 points you make have any truth to them, though of course you also neglect the facts there as well.
MMM was not sanctioned by the Church, and those responsible were dealt with.
Plural marriage hasn't been practiced since 1890, and it wasn't illegal in the US until 1856 and wasn't enforced until 1880's. And since Utah wasn't a State at that time then no law was broken anyway.
I guess one of the main differences between Mormons and Anti-Mormons is that the Anti-Mormons' best argument is: "Google it" while the Mormons say: "Ask God."
Hm... pretty powerful search engine or Almighty God - well - you choose.
You could *Google* it or go to the library as well and do your research. These two methods are going to be quicker than asking God who has a physical body and is a couple of solar systems away near the star of Kolob. He's a bit busy right now populating his current planet.
BTW,I'm still a member of the church on the books.I'm just asking questions and letting people know some of the LDS beliefs. They are free to learn, research or transmit a message to Kolob if they wish.I'm pro FREE THOUGHT
You are not asking questions, you are making statements that have no substance to them. You may still be a member "on the books", but your words show you have no real understanding of the Church or it's doctrines. You spout anti-Mormon claims that have been refuted, most of which have been refuted for decades. You may be pro free thought, but that doesn't mean that your thought is up to much, or contains any truth to it.
I confess - I am trying to be Someone's disciple and so I am interested in what He wants me to "think, believe, read".
BTW - here is an example of what He wants me to read, etc.:
"Each member should develop talents, read good literature be engaged in quality cultural pursuits, and become informed and participate appropriately in local and national civic affairs." (Spencer W. Kimball)
By their google ye shall judge them, sounds a like another verse being twisted. Don't trust Mormons, because soon after you join will discover they are human, just like you.
I warn you all now, they say they are God's followers, but in truth they have made some mistakes, and we can prove that on many occasions, they behave in a way that almost seems as though they were free to choose what was wrong. We can prove they did, and we will. It's all over the internet, and many many books. How can you put your trust in a Church who has members that sometimes are not perfect. Think people, before you get sucked into this awful cult.
"Last question, Biblically, who is allowed in the temple? why now are only Latter day saints? if its biblical?"
"We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God."
"We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost."
"The most cherished of human relationships are made eternal"? If these are Biblical practices, where does it say marriage is eternal?
Romans 7:1-2 Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth? For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.
What is the law Paul is speaking about? The Law of Moses - the lower law which didn't cover eternal marriage.
None of our beliefs contradict the Bible, but not all of them can be found in the Bible. There are two reasons:
1. The Lord reveals new things to new prophets.
2. Some teachings were lost during the apostasy. One of them is the principle of eternal marriage. Peter received sealing power that goes beyond mortality. During apostasy it was lost and restored again through J. Smith.
I've been told that LDS people believe God is continually giving new revelation to their prophet. How do you guard against false teachings?
If your prophet gave a revelation that differed from church teachings in the past, how do you determine which to follow?
Christians hold their ministers accountable to the Bible. (See Galatians 1:7-12 and 1 John 4:1) The early Christians compared Paul's teachings with the Old Testament in Acts 17:11-12. What is the standard for Mormons?
So, if we compare the teachings of Jesus to the old testament, we have so many differences and new teachings, that we could say as the jews did: He is a liar and dont accept the law of moses. But Jesus fulfilled the law, bringing the higher law. And how we can find out, that his words are from god?
How do you know, that the bible is true?
What is your advive for a new biblereader, to find out its truth?
The Bible speaks of people falling away from the truth, it never indicates that there would be a total apostasy. Mormons often misuse 1 Timothy 4:1 which says that "in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils." Notice that the verse merely indicates "some" would depart from the faith, not that there would be a total apostasy.
How could there have been a total apostasy of the church since Jesus promised that "the gates of hell shall not prevail against it"? (Matt. 16:18) Jesus also promised, "lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world." (Matt. 28:20)
revelation 18: "23 The light of a lamp shall not shine in you anymore, and the voice of bridegroom and bride shall not be heard in you anymore. For your merchants were the great men of the earth, for by your sorcery all the nations were deceived. 24 And in her was found the blood of prophets and saints, and of all who were slain on the earth."
Another problem with the LDS claim of a total apostasy is their own teaching that John, one of Christ's twelve apostles, did not die (see D&C 7:1-3) but was to remain on the earth to "prophesy before nations." Besides John, three of the twelve disciples in the Book of Mormon were granted their desire to remain on earth, to "bring the souls of men unto me," until Christ's return (Book of Mormon, 3 Nephi 28:6-9).
The apostatsy means, that the true church of god was not longer on earth, and people could only serve god with giving their life and being persecuted. All true disciples of Jesus were persecuted, like the revelation says.
"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
Jesus HAD the authority? no he Has ALL authority! Jesus fulfilled the Old Testament priesthood and is now the only High Priest in the Christian church. (See Heb. 4:14; 7:26; 9:11)
Obey his commandments is not going to give you salvation, Grace will!
In Eph. 2:20-22 Paul points out that Christians "are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone; in whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: in whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit." Thus the question is not whether you are member of the right denomination but are you trusting Christ's atonement to make you right with God?
Well im not Mormon, so I can talk to God all I want and he can talk to me! I don't have to ask for my interpretation, I can give it! Who do you ask for your interpretation? Can you read the Bible and see the truth or do you ask your elders for what the so called truth is?
Well common sense wuld tell you that if you have God in you, you will obey! When you are adopted into a family you obey the rules of the family! God adopts you, you become a Bond Slave to God! I know that sounds bad but look up Bond Slave!
So, you do agree that the Lord does expect us to obey His commandments. Didn't you say: "if you have God in you, you will obey"?
We agree on this then. So, what's the big fuss about works being the opposite of grace? You guys make is sound as if keeping the commandments is pretty much rejecting God's grace.
Mormonism also teaches that the true church will have the same structure as Christ instituted. Thus they argue that the true church will have twelve apostles at its head. However, the Mormons do not conform to their own standard as they have three apostles in their First Presidency as well as their twelve, thus making fifteen apostles at the head of their church. Also, Deacons were to be mature men, not twelve-year-old boys (see 1 Tim. 3:8-12).
How many times have you posted this comment before? You are good in hitting those Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V buttons - Exodus.
I will respond again to your comment (no matter whoever originally wrote it) - The Lord's Church is a living church. It will always be built on the foundation of apostles and prophets. There will probably always be a Quorum of the Twelve, but if the Lord decides that we should have 100 apostles - so be it. I think He knows better than us.
How could the true church be on earth in the dark middleages?: revelation 18:
"21 Then a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence the great city Babylon shall be thrown down, and shall not be found anymore. 22 The sound of harpists, musicians, flutists, and trumpeters shall not be heard in you anymore. No craftsman of any craft shall be found in you anymore, and the sound of a millstone shall not be heard in you anymore."
Yes - some departed and some died in faith. But the fact is - the time came when there were no more apostles on the earth. The Church which was built on the rock of revelation couldn't exist without... revelation.
So Jesus was wrong in Matthew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Also - in Romans 7 Paul is making an analogy. Marriage is not the point. The point is fulfillment of the lower law and beginning of the higher law.
In a way - this is what the Lord is trying to accomplish in our days. By giving us the Book of Mormon, the priesthood, the Church, etc. He offers you and me more knowledge, more light, more joy.
...34 And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage: 35 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:...
You started off with "Biblical Practices of Worshipping in the Temple." So where in the Bible does it have your practices?
1 Corinthians 3:16-17 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
Thank you for asking. Here are few of many scriptures: 2 Sam. 7:5, 1 Kgs. 8:29, 1 Kgs. 9:3, 1 Chr. 28:6, Isa. 2:3, Jer. 7:4, 11, Ezek. 37:26, Ezek. 43:4, Hab. 2:20, Zech. 6:13, Mal. 3:1, Matt. 21:13,...
Also - read Luke's last verse about what the apostles did after Jesus' ascension: "And were continually in the atemple, praising and blessing God." (Luke 24:53)
After familiarizing yourself with temple worship you can have greater understanding of 1 Cor. 3:16-17 too. I recommend it!
2 Samuel 7:1-17 is God's Promise to David, 1 Kings 8:22-61 is Solomon's Prayer of Dedication, Read 1 Kings 9:1-9 God's Promise and Warning, 1 Chronicles 28 David's Address about the Temple, Isaiah 2:1-5 The Mountain of the Lord, Jeremiah 7:1-29 False Religion Worthless, Ezekiel 37:15-28 One Nation Under One King, Ezekiel 43:1-12 The Glory Returns to the Temple, Habakkuk 2 The LORD's Answer, Zechariah 6:9-15 A Crown for Joshua, Malachi 3:1-7 The Purifier, Matthew 21:12-17 Jesus at the Temple.
Do you know what ancient Israelites' temple practices were? No? Perhaps because they considered them too sacred to write too many details about them?
If you do want to find out what they were though - meet with LDS missionaries and find out how you can prepare yourself to go to the temple. It's worth it!
Luke 24:50-53 The Ascension, this is just talking returning to the temple? But what happened to the temple? how many times was it destroyed? did you know they are rebuilding it again? read revelations its kinda powerfull how its all coming to a point!
Verse 52 states that the apostles returned to the temple, but verse 53 says: "And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God."(Luke 24:53).
Without living apostles you can just guess what "praising and blessing God" meant. Apparently the apostles did thing that they didn't record in the Bible. Continuing revelation has always been present in the true Church of God.
What? No piwo? Scroo you, psia krew!

That Jesus is literally present in the Eucharist.

@TheStrangeRanger - there are similarities but not related.

Ten sign of a CULT/Dangerous Leader(s)

PolishAbinadi 3 years ago

PolishAbinadi 2 years ago

PolishAbinadi 2 years ago
The last apostle was murdered? was that John? When did he die and how? In D&C section 7 Joseph Smith said that the Apostle John is still alive somewhere on the earth.
The Apostle Paul wrote: "Unto Him (God) be glory in the Church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end Amen" (Ephesians 3:21). Could that be true if there was a universal apostasy of the church for several centuries?

Gospel means good news right? How can the gospel of the church be good news when there is NO freedom. Priesthood leaders make sure everyone understands "their authority, rule and condemnation". Jesus came to set us free from the bonds of men and religion.
GiftoAll 3 years ago
Throughout the history of the church, members as well as leaders have been told that all other Christian sects are corrupt. Starting in the 1970s members wanted to be called Christian and want to be accepted into the community. Condemning statements about Christain pastors and evangelical churches will not put the LDS church into the body of Christ and never will. God told Joseph that all others were an abomination. I know God didn't say this, but you do and thus you have to live with it.
GiftoAll 3 years ago

GiftoAll 3 years ago
"Is it more important to be Christ like or have faith and assurance in the God who has saved us?"
Having faith in Christ is step 1.
Working to become truly born again, therefore possesing the attributes that Christ does is as equally important.
"Be ye therefore perfect as your Father in Heaven is perfect" "If ye love me, keep my commandments"
Mormons do not destroy the Gift of Grace. They seek it fully. We obtain christs grace through obedience to the gospel, or becoming "born again"
HomesliceDrummer 3 years ago 2
You are talking about being "free from righteousness"(Rom. 6:20). Jesus' apostles help us to be "free from sin" (v.18, 22).
You should know that our leaders respect our freedom to choose. All they do is what the prophets of the Bible did - they teach us God's word and let us govern ourselves.
I know some people who don't feel comfortable when they hear or read all those things about living chase life, being honest, serve others, etc. They like to complain about lack of freedom, etc. Oh well.
PolishAbinadi 3 years ago
Freudian slip or typo? chase life. How could you define freedom by constant works? If the church came out and said all of these works aren't necessary for salvation but needed to keep the organization going, that would be different. Living the word of wisdom and being honest is not exclusive with the church, the church lets everyone know about it. Why didn't Jesus ever say, "don't drink wine"? He said it's not important what goes into a person but what comes out. Freedom is being free.
GiftoAll 3 years ago
I meant "chaste life" - thanks for the feedback.
PolishAbinadi 3 years ago
Fermented wine. The pharasees accused Jesus of being a wine bibber. He did drink wine. It is a good thing to take all in moderation. Joseph Smith drank and smoked on occasion. It is not a good thing to stand in moral judgement from the use of alcohol, tobacco, tea, coffee, red meat as a sin. This is a foolish idea as well as Gods' condemnation in the doctrine of the LDS church of colored people. They are all of his creations. Do you have the right to criticize his work?
GiftoAll 3 years ago
Who did Jesus help? The sick, disturbed, the sinners. Who did he criticize? The pharasees, publicans, the pious self righteous. Would Jesus approve of a people that believed they were closer to God because they kept another law which made them unique and separate from other sinners? The Jews also thought they were closer to God because of the Law and their unique society. Christ was and is the only one worthy. It should never be praise to da man in a religious setting. It should be honor to man.
GiftoAll 3 years ago
*I never said Jesus didn't drink wine (although - unlike you, I never had a chance to check if it was fermented or not).
*In 1833 Jesus gave the world what He called "The Word of Wisdom" where He told us "not by commandment", but by the word of wisdom that "strong drinks are not for the belly" (D&C 89:7), etc.
*The Word of Wisdom didn't become a commandment and a requirement for membership until the beg. of 1900s.
*Unlike many protestants, Mormons never condemned colored people.
PolishAbinadi 3 years ago
Jesus never gave mankind the word of wisdom, it was Joseph Smith along with his multi wife doctrine 132.
If you look closely at the book of Isaiah written into the book of mormon, it reads like a King James Bible. Linguists have found mistakes in our current King James and the BookofMormon has the same MISTAKES! What more do you want? The gospel that the missionaries tell is a completely different story than the Bible. The original word of God tells a story of an infinite glorious creator. It never says anything about God living on another planet and being tempted or sinning. All of these temples and churches are nothing more than the praise and exhaltation of MAN, not God! This is the reason Joseph Smith was wrong and he did ADD to the word of God.
GiftoAll 3 years ago

You may be pro free thought, but that doesn't mean that your thought is up to much, or contains any truth to it.

Exodus314IAM 3 years ago
What is the law Paul is speaking about? The Law of Moses - the lower law which didn't cover eternal marriage.
None of our beliefs contradict the Bible, but not all of them can be found in the Bible. There are two reasons:
1. The Lord reveals new things to new prophets.
2. Some teachings were lost during the apostasy. One of them is the principle of eternal marriage. Peter received sealing power that goes beyond mortality. During apostasy it was lost and restored again through J. Smith.
PolishAbinadi 3 years ago
I've been told that LDS people believe God is continually giving new revelation to their prophet. How do you guard against false teachings?
If your prophet gave a revelation that differed from church teachings in the past, how do you determine which to follow?
Christians hold their ministers accountable to the Bible. (See Galatians 1:7-12 and 1 John 4:1) The early Christians compared Paul's teachings with the Old Testament in Acts 17:11-12. What is the standard for Mormons?
Exodus314IAM 3 years ago

Exodus314IAM 3 years ago
How could there have been a total apostasy of the church since Jesus promised that "the gates of hell shall not prevail against it"? (Matt. 16:18) Jesus also promised, "lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world." (Matt. 28:20)
Exodus314IAM 3 years ago
part 2:
revelation 18: "23 The light of a lamp shall not shine in you anymore, and the voice of bridegroom and bride shall not be heard in you anymore. For your merchants were the great men of the earth, for by your sorcery all the nations were deceived. 24 And in her was found the blood of prophets and saints, and of all who were slain on the earth."
mormontube 3 years ago
Jesus is still with his apostles and the gates of hell will not prevail against revelation and the Church.
PolishAbinadi 3 years ago
Another problem with the LDS claim of a total apostasy is their own teaching that John, one of Christ's twelve apostles, did not die (see D&C 7:1-3) but was to remain on the earth to "prophesy before nations." Besides John, three of the twelve disciples in the Book of Mormon were granted their desire to remain on earth, to "bring the souls of men unto me," until Christ's return (Book of Mormon, 3 Nephi 28:6-9).
Exodus314IAM 3 years ago
With four apostles remaining on the earth, how could there have been a total apostasy?
Exodus314IAM 3 years ago
The apostatsy means, that the true church of god was not longer on earth, and people could only serve god with giving their life and being persecuted. All true disciples of Jesus were persecuted, like the revelation says.
mormontube 3 years ago
You just mentioned 4 apostles remaining on the earth. Perhaps this is an answer to your question about Matt. 28:20?
PolishAbinadi 3 years ago
Matthew 28:16-20 The Great Commission.
"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
Exodus314IAM 3 years ago

Exodus314IAM 3 years ago
(It's so nice to read your actual words - not someone else's copied and pasted statements 8O)
Your private interpretation (against which Peter warns in 2 Pet. 1:20) shows that. My understanding of this verse doesn't:
-Yes, Jesus had the authority.
-Yes, He commanded the apostles to obey his commandments (what about grace!!! - ha,ha)
-Yes, He is with them - even after they died. He is also with the living apostles.
Where does it say: "There will be no Great Apostasy"?
PolishAbinadi 3 years ago
correction: I meant to say that the apostles were to teach all nations to obey His commandments.
PolishAbinadi 3 years ago
Jesus HAD the authority? no he Has ALL authority! Jesus fulfilled the Old Testament priesthood and is now the only High Priest in the Christian church. (See Heb. 4:14; 7:26; 9:11)
Obey his commandments is not going to give you salvation, Grace will!
Exodus314IAM 3 years ago
Exodus314IAM 3 years ago
You keep giving your own interpretations of biblical verses. Question: When and how did Jesus give you the authority to do so?
PolishAbinadi 3 years ago
Well im not Mormon, so I can talk to God all I want and he can talk to me! I don't have to ask for my interpretation, I can give it! Who do you ask for your interpretation? Can you read the Bible and see the truth or do you ask your elders for what the so called truth is?
Exodus314IAM 3 years ago
I agree - He HAS the authority.
If obeying is so unimportant - why did Jesus commanded His disciples to teach all nations "to obey everything I have commanded you"?
He didn't say: "Teach all nations not to bother keeping the commandments, etc. because I will save them IN their sins."
PolishAbinadi 3 years ago
Well common sense wuld tell you that if you have God in you, you will obey! When you are adopted into a family you obey the rules of the family! God adopts you, you become a Bond Slave to God! I know that sounds bad but look up Bond Slave!
Exodus314IAM 3 years ago
So, you do agree that the Lord does expect us to obey His commandments. Didn't you say: "if you have God in you, you will obey"?
We agree on this then. So, what's the big fuss about works being the opposite of grace? You guys make is sound as if keeping the commandments is pretty much rejecting God's grace.
PolishAbinadi 3 years ago
Mormonism also teaches that the true church will have the same structure as Christ instituted. Thus they argue that the true church will have twelve apostles at its head. However, the Mormons do not conform to their own standard as they have three apostles in their First Presidency as well as their twelve, thus making fifteen apostles at the head of their church. Also, Deacons were to be mature men, not twelve-year-old boys (see 1 Tim. 3:8-12).

Yes - some departed and some died in faith. But the fact is - the time came when there were no more apostles on the earth. The Church which was built on the rock of revelation couldn't exist without... revelation.
