great piece of work, heard of this place recently and am just off there now actually to give my new sigma lens a good test! stumbled across this vid looking for a post code for my sat-nav, really nice!
@SpunkeyMonkey Hi and thanks. I cannot find a post code to help you on your way, but the map ref is SO 68487 04255. You want to park in the village of Purton, near Shapness, oposite the church, then walk ablong the sharpness canal about a mile towards shaprness.
Hope this is helpfull to you, and good luck with the new lense
We visited the site just two days ago after stumbling upon it and Purton by accident. The video captures the fantastic peace and history of this unique place perfectly. A wonderful place and a wonderful piece of filmmaking.
What a brilliant Video. I learned about the Purton Hulks after watching Countryfile recently. The photo's really capture the atmosphere that I can only imagine to be suiting of such a site. The photos give over a feeling of a cold winters morning, a low mist rolling over the water, and shrouding the boats in their makeshift graves. The music, so haunting - what is it? I will be visiting the site myself, to stand amongst the history sunk into the river banks.
The music is Lisa Gerrard's and Patrick Cassidy's Immortal Memory, I splice tow track together to get the atmospheric effect from the vandalised cemetery, to the vandalised ships grave yard. The first track was the orchestral introduction to "The Song of Amergin"followd by "Elegy".
SUPER!
