Highside Motorcycle Crash on Mulholland

I'm not a rider (yet) so i'm not really sure why this happens, but it seems that at 0:33 when the rear wheel slides out he tries to correct it by turning the handlebars to the right, if he'd turned them to the left would it have low sided, or should he have just not turned them at all?

It seems like that could've been due to his body position. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looked almost as if he was leaning towards the outside of the bike. If he would've been leaning more towards the road and getting his body over, he wouldn't have had to lean the bike over as far as he did.

You can see that he gets distracted watching to the guy with the camera trying to get nice in the picture the byke turns that way and when he tries to get it straight is too late. Always look o the point where you want to go.

Thats the problem with Jap bikes, bad balance.... On corners you get on it and they get out from under you... Its happened to me 2 times on an R1 and a gixxer. I now have a Ducati 999RXerox and it never happens. Ducatis hold their corners very well and they allow you to throttle down as much as you want. The MV Agusta is another great cornering bike. But who has 20K plus for a bike?..LOL....

his back end got ahead of him...if you look at the front tire before he lost control, he turned his front wheel into the turn instead of pushing on the handle bar with the left hand to maintain the bike to lean onto the turn.

@GnouHadrienn You can't tell in the videos, but that corner is a decreasing radius and decreasing camber corner. It's really tricky and catches a lot of people off-guard if they're riding above their heads.

@gwl1983 think of yourself rolling down on a skateboard in a hilly street. remember, there are only three lane positions in that single lane of the hilly street. How to approach a curve is first determined by the SEE strategy. The SEE strat should help you watch for "areas of reduced visibility" and to "adjust" your throttle speed for additional safety margin at your advantage. Remember the SEE strat must be applied when all curves are encountered. Then use SLPR.

@danoi99 Well if you actually watched the video you'd notice that the cause of the crash was a part of the rear scraping, lifting the rear wheel off the ground and then dropping it out of alignment, causing the bike to instantly straighten and realign, flipping the rider over it. No WD40, no bad tires (at least, that's not the cause) just rider error. He leaned too far.

thats how everyone kinda crashes when people are watching you try and do to much he tried accelerating through the turn but was too low and gave too much gas the tires didnt have enough contact for that much acceleration sucks it happen to me had a bunch of chick watch and cheering tried giving it more gas through the turn back came out i corrected it some how but the bike popped up and went into like a speed wobble and launched me ruined my ducati 916

If you watch it in slow motion you can see his phone on his belt and when he crashes(sending him flying into the air) you see him land directly on top of his phone probably braking it, then you see the phone fly in to the air then landing right under the front tire most likely smashing it to bits. Lolz. Is it ok? :D

At first I didn't think it was anything other than 'just one of those things' but yeah, the one comment is correct IMHO...looks like he whacks the throttle just before the rear breaks free. Can't do that on 750's (600's you can get away with it...most of the time) and hope to stay upright very often.
