  • Nice video, i lived in london and have been away for 20 years now. Seeing the scenery brought me back the memory of daily sights i used to have. Thanks for posting.

  • Excellent shot

  • Love this :-)

I used to travel from Kings Cross to Farringdon and - in my 1 hour - oh ok i kinda stretched it!!! :-) - traveled from Faringdon to Barbican every lunchtime i could :-)

Thank you for posting this and bringing back happy memories of a better time especially as right now i am having a bit of a bad time :-(

All good wishes my friend :-)

  • Great Video. The only issue is that on the description it says that Kings Cross is the first station. Can you please change this to Kings Cross St. Pancras, because that is the station's more accurate name.

  • What train

  • so badley wanna be a train drivier

  • @uktrainsim001 Me too but I know I will never be selected, Good luck to u pal :)

  • Cool vid. A rainy day.

  • I can't get over just how huge London is.

  • I'm almost living the dream!! :D

  • why do british people drive on the left side of the road anyway?

  • @howardkevinm Its actually the Americans who saw the Brits and decided to drive on the right side of the road.

  • @howardkevinm Because there vehicles have steering on the right hand side I guess.

  • Why did I watch this?

  • did u pay transport for london filming fees or did u film without permission ?

  • Interesting!

What rails to we see at 7:22?

How do trains get power when switching tracks?

    Thank you.

  • Excellent video...Only 2 signals on red....Am I right in saying that the circle line trains have to lose up to 9 mins due to the circuit taking less and the way in interacts with other lines?

  • that line needs more graff..

  • @ETSxSILENTJOKER - You jump down there and do it, then. An electrified live rail and a rapid service that goes every three to five minutes, yeah, top idea that is, son...(!)

  • @Camberwell86 Live rail... as in everyother track then? (apart from the freight line ofc) and 3 to 5 minutes? you have no idea how fast a writer can do his thing under pressure. Keep spotting trains, son.

  • @Camberwell86 but i may add, im no graffiti artist, but i do see the artistic side of it, and it brightens up my morning when im going to work, n look out of the window, instead of seeing walls and railings, i see people risking there lives just make people notice them.

  • It's not for nothing the London Underground is the oldest, biggest and most soulful in the world. Subsurface Circle or Metropolitan line?

  • @jlydenful

If you think it's so gay, why did you click on the video, I mean really youtube has thousands of videos you could have chosen to watch, but instead you clicked on this one. Don't be in denial, your gay, am I right?

  • Great video. Thank you for NOT adding music.

  • Nice to have a cab ride. Is it still possible today?

  • Enjoyed the ride!!!

  • That's a lot of people at 7:20 ! A lot of red lights for the driver as well. Great video!

  • This is one of my most favorite youtube video. Thanks for uploading.I always love riding at the front of the training.

  • blimey!

  • I think it would be quicker to walk. LOL

    Good video though.

  • brilliant

  • TOO SLOW

  • Fascinating video, thanks very much for sharing it.

  • I took this route many times

  • circel line nice vue mate good vidio

  • why dont drivers have there headlights on when in the tunnels? it would be nice to see whats iin front of you even if it is just track and black walls.

  • @MrFaulconbridge The headlights are on, its just the fact that those tunnels are pitch black!

  • i loved going on the underground since i was a little girl

  • I would get nightmares. o-o

  • Brilliant video this. I've always loved the underground, and this gives you the essential flavour of the cut-and-cover lines like the Circle and the Metropolitan, with their glimpses of London through the backs of the buildings. I'm going there later in the year and this just makes me want to be there now.

  • i was signalman at rayners lane. they were great Days

  • WOw! The station are more clean than NYC

  • would it be hard?

  • I thoroughly enjoyed your video. Thanks.

  • are u a tube driver

  • FANTASTIC! 5/5

  • how fast does they normaly drive?

  • ive bn away from london for some months now, really miss it and videos like this help me keep my memories alive ....thanx mate. LOVE IT...!

  • Superb, my five year old is autistic, can't speak but has a fixation with trains and especially tunnels. watch this about 15 times a session and he goes into overdrive, complete euphoria, flapping his hands and jumping up and down. Don't remove this from YouTube. Essential viewing!!!

  • @testament1uk same with my cousin except he's my age

  • @testament1uk Thanks.Yes please do not remove.

  • @testament1uk

you should save it then ;)

  • @testament1uk

Did you know you could by the this on dvd?

  • @testament1uk Hi, I'm also an Autist, (Asperger) and if I'm over drived I also flap my hands, and make an internal pressure and hold my breath. I love trains so much, therefore, I am able to do almost all underground station announcements from Vienna by heart.

  • @testament1uk you can download it using Vdownloader so its safe.

  • @testament1uk

...but I cant stop watching it either. I love it, it takes me back 40 years to when my dad worked in the city. Your lad has great taste!

  • @testament1uk I think that's probably one of the strangely moving comments I've ever read on a Youtube video! More power to you and your son :)

  • when was this made?

  • Great stuff! Thanks for posting.

  • Thanks, it's good to get a different perspective; to see from a different angle.

  • Thanks for this video! Now I see the scenery my dad sees when driving the train. (Yes, my father is a real Tube driver! ^_^ Only on the Circle line.

  • i was born in london!

and were you driving the train?

  • Interesting to see no catenary but of course replaced by the 3rd rail.Probably used cut and cover style construction...great posting.

  • The way to Fabric club ! :)

  • Gidday from downunder Australia

Crikey that's a bloody awesome video mate, thanks for sharing.

  • @TrainSpotterX the driver can't even see, where he is going it is dark, our Melbourne trains are ten times better

  • Great vid, hope to see more of this type. This is just the thing for the anglophile linebasher ;-) Why dont you record or type the station names as the train enters them??

  • That was cool. Cheers

  • I drive this line !

  • You don't know what you got, until you lose it,,,

  • Great job to have. Wished i worked on the underground.

  • what a job....

  • yeh but if you think of the congestion problems in london anyway,

and the substantial cost of creating a system like that,

    your thinking millions of pounds.

And the tube is a way of getting round london quickly, not for sightseeing.

So there are many flaws in your thinking you need to consider.

Tube trains dont get in the way of traffic

  • You know, I never realised it was so scary when going into the tunnel like that. I just take it for granted.

  • I see there are quite a few London Underground videos like this, but it is quite hard to find a mainline train driver who has done the same thing. London Underground train drivers must just be cooler!

  • This is great, I feel like I am back in London using the Underground. The sounds and signaling are great. Thanks for the tourist feeling.

  • Fascinating view.... all that brickwork!

  • Guess thats why that saying says,

    "London to a brick"

  • that is officially the kewlest train video ever!!!!!! thanks fo posting.

  • I thought the Tube Trains were 'driverless' - like the Vancouver "Sky Train"

  • Only the DLR is driverless, not the rest of the London Underground

  • whats the dlr

  • Docklands Light Railway

  • You're wrong there actually, the Central and Victoria are also ATO athough there are drivers in the cabs incase of an emergency. Soon the Jubillee will also be ATO and the Northern and Piccadilly lines aswell I think.

  • I love this video!!

  • not much underground on this section..great to see the retaining walls and construction methods of the 1860s!

  • are u a tran driver

  • I meant that drivers on the deep tube lines are maybe allowed to drive faster. As you can see the track quality on this line is very poor! Maybe your drivers in Cairo are instructed to drive quick. I wish they were like that here, especially when driving next to cars :P

  • Oh! yeah :)

you remind me by the train of alexandria, it tooks 225K.m on a high speed, I was happy while seeing the train skip the cars :P

  • Sub Surface Trains share the track, Like Hammersmith and City, Metropolitan, and Circle, so more trains means a slower speed, Plus, The system AND Trains are in need of renovation, which is why the S Stock is coming soon.

  • Love all that "clacking" of the tracks and the old trains.

Can you please tell me approx how long the circle line is?

  • about 56 minutes per circle !

  • Thanks mate.

You have got a top job.

I love the transitions between tunnels and the open cut parts.

I think I travelled a bit of this circle when I was in your great city in 1999.

  • I can tell you it does get boring pretty quickly. Didn't think it would, but it has! But can't complain because of the money ;)

  • Either this is a trainspotter allowed up front, or this was taken by the driver him or herself! The Tube, being the first underground on the planet, should spend some funds and retrofit an untinted window opposide the driver's side and allow for the general public to enjoy this view! (This separation stems from the old steam hauled days. there is no excuse in not allowing for the riders to enjoy this view as well! C'mon rolling stock designers, let's give it a go!

  • Doesn't some Ny Subway trains have a window up front to see the view? Anyway, I still prefer The london underground

  • Comment removed

  • I believe the deep tube trains are quite quicker.

  • i feel like im playing MYST

  • I love to see train driving!I love trains

  • Love trains too.

  • good video! BUT THE A60s ARE BETTER THAN THE C69 ANYDAY BUT THE C 69s DO A GOOD JOB

  • your train is very slow our metro in Egypt is faster. I'm serious

  • Like we give a shit?

  • sorry use more simple words...I can't understand

  • by the same passenger?

  • I want to apply to be a train driver anyone know the basic info?

  • be more specific about what you want to know...

  • that is so cool!

  • Nice, I want to drive such a modern train...anyone look for me?

  • its pretty boring compared to what i expected.

  • What were you expecting?

  • a triangle xD

    heehee

  • Sorry i didn't mean to sound ungrateful to you posting the content. It's something i never ever thought about, but i saw the video by accident, and was curious. I guess my expectations were it would look faster.

  • Kings Cross St Pancras Eastbound or clockwise which ever way u look at it. Lines share the same track hmmmm....there is a centre road into a bay platform shut from public there as u enter eastbound

  • "is this circle or hammersmith & city?"

    The video description says Circle.

I found it interesting that so many platforms are curved. On the SF BART, all platforms are straight, so that you don't have to "mind the gap" quite as much.

  • Some deep underground lines are curved

  • Great video! But...why does it seem sooo much slower than New York's subway?? NYC put some constraining speed limits on some of their lines in recent years. But some lines, such as Brooklyn's Brighton Express (the "B") seems like a bullet train compared to this video. I thought London was better at speed...maybe I'm wrong.

  • I dont know why it seems so slow, the underground is quite fast certainly much faster than in this video

  • The London underground isn't anywhere near as vicious as NY's subway system but its usually faster then what this video is portraying

  • watch the signals - seems he is following another train

  • can you at least make a movie with the view of the whole cab good movie

  • I love the visual beauty of this video. It is so relaxing.

    Thank you!

I wish one could buy stuff like this in DVDs with commercial quality at the store. Not the usual over edited Rail Road DVDs. But long lasting shots from a point of view. Can I? Tell me, please, if anybody knows.

    (Please excuse my english.)

  • check out a company called "video 125"...they do national rail stuff like that in england.

  • Yeah i no that

  • I'm going to be on the Underground Tomorrow

  • Awesome to see this from the conductor's point of view! Thanks!

  • is this circle or hammersmith & city?

  • could be any they both travel through these stations

  • Circle

  • I missed LONDON BIG TIME :(

  • thats an intresting view - good work 5*

  • loooool train ops lose there jobs if they let any one in there cabin thats not supposed to really there not even supposed to do anything in there cab just drive reli boring job

so bassically hes just put the camera on the dash and left there untill he finishes his shift

  • how did u made this video? did you asked the triver if u can join him and make a videotape? and agreed?

  • it must be scary for the driver you know becuase all he can he can see is a dark tunnel

  • What are the names of the stations this train is passing through?

  • It,s from Kings X to Liverpool St, outer track (clockwise)

  • the tube trains undoubtedly have the most fastest accelerations than any other trains i the world. i think it is 0-30 in 2-3 seconds.

  • no the german berlin and munich "u-bahnen" accelerate much faster

  • where is this?

  • Over to the top right there is a clue in the "more info" link.

  • were the lights on when u were driving the tube? i thought the driver could see in

    the dark

    in the tunnel

  • It feels SOOO much faster when you are in the back!

  • hello, what is the maximum speed the tube goes at?

  • in this part of london (in the vid) the speed limit is like 30-40mph but some trains can go up to around 70mph (but they cant, cause of speed limits)

  • I guess you moved the empty beer cans out of the way to film this? ;) *joke*

I travel this way every evening just after 6pm, so I'd better be nice cos you probably drive me to Aldgate...

PS. Why are the (westbound) announcements and board always WRONG at Aldgate? I mean ALWAYS wrong...

  • okay

  • cool vid im a volentier teacher of the history of the underground it so interesting, my grandfather left me diary of a worker that was apart of the buiding of the underground when it first was built and it turns out that it is my grandfathers diary from a few generations ago did you know that some of the gaps where you see daylight, was originaly because the first trains was steam and they used to store the smoke in the steam engins and they would use some of those gaps to vent the toxic smoke

  • makes me laugh, you watch a video that is called "Train drivers view" and you think its shit, why bother looking at it in the first place?

  • cool vid =)

  • Isn't there supposedly the Screaming Spectre of Anne Naylor at Farringdon Underground Station?

Wonder if she was camera shy?

    =p

  • How?

  • The London Underground, is the LARGEST in the whole world. You could fit all of New Yorks network fourty three times within the London Network. London has 166 trains, yet at most times only use 35 to 50. New York has a total of 70 trains, useing only 20 to 35 trains per day, inless in holidays, same goes for London network.

  • thats realy bullshit

43 are u sure? dont think so. and Even in my town Rotterdam they use 168 subways every day

  • i said they use 43 trains, all day long, not that they do not use other trains like in rush hour. I do know why you may not agree with me, but this is true. You can contact any underground and check for your self.

  • Utter nonsense. The Circle line has 14 C stock trains assigned throughout traffic hours, coupled with 22 C-stock assigned throughout traffic hours to the Hammersmith and City line. That makes 36 trains running on just those two lines. I know, I drive them! So with your figures that leaves just 7 trains running on *all* the other lines, don't be so silly.

  • that might be true but london underground is like 103 years old,nyc trains run much more smoothly i bet.

  • No they run really hard too !

  • Yes, i think so. The UK has the most disruptive network in the world, its been announced recently and in the past to. We need to get our act together.

  • just so you know, the underground was very first opened on the 10 of jan 1863, witch makes it alot more that 103 years old, and it was called the metropolitan railway, and it consisted of 7 stations, just so you know lol

  • that's what makes our underground the best. It is the world's first and original underground. Our stations have lots of character.

  • that maybe so,but thats not a bonus when we want to get to work on time ;)

  • Nice work, very interesting.

  • its so eerie. doing that job would freak me out

  • lol bet your boss doesn't know about your filming on the job :P

  • The driver mate doing the filming one hopes ;)

  • how did u get this footage dude really cool though

  • Nice view from the cab..

  • in a deep level the treins r in diiferant tube so u wont see one coming towards you really except in a few parts of the tunnels

  • would you be in trouble if your bosses found in in the cab with video recording equipment?

  • People shouldn't complain too loudly about the tube. There are cities that are more populous than London ie Lagos, Jakarta dont even have an underground system. We are lucky.

  • don't the trains go any faster?! i rember when i lived in london they went really fast

  • Yes, I was actually driving at 190mph, but I slowed the footage so as to allow for better viewing otherwise it all just whizzes past.

  • Most lines only go 35-45 MPH. What line did you use?

  • The lodnon underground is ace

  • is that u drivin it

  • drive or get the bus underground is ausome

  • why not print that front page???

  • y u telling me?
