Many Native in Canada as well do not support Russel Means and his ideas to create this so called Republic of Lakotah. Not that I necessarily oppose what Means is saying BUT, to be fair, let's not forget what the Lakotah are doing in the geographical area they occupy. They raided their way in from the east, hundreds of years ago, attacking anyone who got in their way. Whites did basically the same thing to them, the difference being that Whites won when they confronted the Lakotah. Does Means mean to give all the land the Lakoyah took from the original inhabitants of that land back? I'm thinking not.

I support Mr. Means on what he and others are doing. I do not believe he's in this for himself. He has fought for years for justice and stood up for what is right over and over again. He has risked his life to continue to Stand. To not give up. I admire his perseverance. To Stand Up for what is right is this world is difficult. I've experienced this myself many times. I applaud Mr. Means!

what do the lakota want.. i can give my opinion, but i cant speak for all. i just know alot of people who think russell means is full of BS.ok, now thats said, i want respect, recognition, and a decent tribal government that doesnt depend on the US government. also, the exact repayment for the black hills, taxes on the people and businesses that reside in the stolen territory. It all sounds great russell, yet, our problems are internal.

Not that I necessarily oppose what Means is saying BUT, to be fair, let's not forget what the Lakotah are doing in the geographical area they occupy. They raided their way in from the east, hundreds of years ago, attacking anyone who got in their way. Whites did basically the same thing to them, the difference being that Whites won when they confronted the Lakotah. Does Means mean to give all the land the Lakoyah took from the original inhabitants of that land back? I'm thinking not.

We should all support the Lakota people in their effort to become a free, independent & sovereign Nation. The biggest reason I sight is because The United States Supports Israel's right to be recognized as a state in Palestine. I think if the United states feels that Israel has a right to exist The republic of Lakota should as well. After all These people's lands were taken from them at the barrel of a gun. It is time the USA recognizes their mistake & restores honor to our government.

Unfortunately the United States and all other countries around the world will probably not recognize the Republic of Lakota. It is a fruitless effort, although silly, fun, and indulgent to attempt(if that is what you like). I honostly would think that most of the people in the new "Republic of Lakota" would rather be apart of the United States anyway. Natural Selection.
