Mr.Nivola was so sweet on the set of who do you love. Someone was blocking me and he was like I can't see Deloris lol.. I haven't see the film yet but am looking forward to seeing it.
Well, he's definitely got that Latin lover thing going on, although he's only half-latin. He's got that Rudolph Valentino quality about him, especially in "Coco Avant Chanel" which I hope is going to be a very big hit here in America.
I saw 'Coco Avant Chanel' today. I agree entirely! Alessandro's accents are both incredible also, his French as well as his English- i thought he as an actor actually was English.
I would bet that that film makes him noticed more so for the incredible talent that he is :)
I just came back from seeing "Coco Before Chanel" and Alessandro is MAGNIFICENT in it! It's going to be a great triumph for him and also of course for Audrey Tautou. His French-speaking English swain just burns up the screen! Best thing he's ever done! THIS could be the part that launches him to another level, acting-wise...I know Sony Pictures Classics has Oscar hopes for Audrey if nothing else. BEAUTIFUL, unusual film! French cinema at its' complex best!
I know. His resume is marvelously sophtisticated and varied. And he speaks French marvelously, too. He attended the Festival with his mother who he said was Swedish, I think. A very hip-looking, distinguished lady. I think this award is going to help raise his profile on the Awards circuit. He just needs that one, career-defining, showy role, and he's there. He's certainly done the work. Which is why he was so astutely being honored by the Provincetown Film Fest. And he SINGS, too!
Noooo... Swedish? In the interview he says his mother is American and his father is Italian!! By the way, there's something I don't quite understand, when he explains his Italian father has dark skin and black hair, whereas he looks more like his mother... :-| To me he looks pretty dark haired at least... I would even say he looks quite Mediterranean!! Am I going crazy??
He said she was Swedish, or maybe of Swedish descent at Provincetown when B. Ruby Rich was interviewing him, when he was given the award. He's blond in person. They make him look darker in certain roles. His mother certainly looked patrician. I was surprised by how fair he seemed.
He PHOTOGRAPHS darker than he looks in person, startlingly coloration. Perhaps this contributes to his love affair with the camera or rather the camera's with him. I was surprised at how dark he looked in this video, FWIW.
And I can't tell you how excited I was by "Coco Before Chanel" which is one of the best films of the year and sure to be a turning point for Alessandro! I am pretty sure Sony Pictures Classics is thinking of Oscar campaigns for the film(Best Foreign), Audrey Tautou(Best Actress) so why not Alessandro for a break-out role done entirely IN FRENCH?!? And of course, the amazing costumes and couture of the legendary Coco.
He's really good in Goal 1 & 2!

Ha,ha, Fuenteovejuna!! It's certainly a very, very famous Spanish play :-) How lovely to hear it mentioned in the interview!
And the part about Helen Mirren, I've found it really amusing! :-)

OK, that explains it then! :-) We've only had the opportunity of seeing him through the eye of the camera so far... :-)
