How the hell do Cobalts or any fast manual car take off? I'd stall it out trying to take off super fast, must be something on the cars just for taking off.
@08turboSS im pretty sure the stage 2 kit give the cobalt ss/sc 245... and if u add downpipe exhaust and intake ur around 270ish... but im not 100 percent sure as i havent seen a dyno with the stuff listed above..but stage 2 gives u 245 to the wheels.. 99.9% sure on that...
Personally, I like the Cobalt better and I got disgusting deals on my 2010 SS. Around 8000 off and not kidding. The MS3 though sounds like a really pissed off beast at the launch and that's not a bad thing haha! I once read on youtube that "if you want a nice interior, buy a living room set" I guess it comes down to personal preference
205hp for the supercharged SS's.. i think ended in 05 or 06, the in between SS's (now known as Sport models) offered a 170hp 2.4L ecotec engine... pretty good pep, but not likely to have a chance at taking down a new SS

wing - optional, small wing - stock, no wing - do it yourself. I got the ss with a "big ass ricer wing" because it was all they head, other than the 4 door with the small wing. Until I'm convinced that I can find someone to buy it(the wing), i'm leaving it there... at least it's factory, unlike the ones you see on "real ricers." Chevy did a good job with the car, except the interior, and they had no idea how to design spoilers...

ok Cobalt ss is a way better looking car. I dont own either one so this is an outsiders point of view. I would say that the ms3 is probably alot faster but the cobalt is way better looking. The ms3 looks like something my grandma would buy for getting groceries. the cobalt looks like a car a young kid would buy for a first car.

actually on average... they have the MS3 losing on twisties.. 0-60 is about even... 1/4 mile is 13.9 to 14.1 in favor of the SS/TC... since not many people actually go on tracks, this info is useless.. in the real world, these cars are dead even... except the MS3 mpg is 18/25... cobalt is 22/30.. again, magazine fact.. mine is about 24mpg on average (I drive it hard more often than not). The draw back to owning an SS/TC.. learn down feature in the ECU making bolt-ons useless without a tune...
just to add... $650 for a factory tune for the SS, keeps the warranty in tact and makes your bolt-ons useful... aftermarket tunes = much more power for much less but kiss your warranty good-bye... btw, that launch control isn't as great as they say it's more for people who don't know how to launch...i damn sure ain't holding my rpms at 5000 and dropping the clutch as the "instructions" say to...
Funny you mention all those neat mods. An MS3 with a TBE, CAI, and XEDE tuning can eclipse 315WHP pretty darn easily. After that, it gets difficult because both the turbo and the fuel system (an advanced-yet-aftermarket-unfriendly D.I. system)run out of range. Fun thing is, the Torque at that level of output is pretty astounding, and a stickier and wider tire is almost mandatory. I doubt she "burning out". The biggest issue SS/SCs have is wheel hop. If she was having those issues either it was a bad run or she just isn't a good driver. I will try to get some more videos from my races on here.

as to the whole "Mazdaspeed3 vs Chevy cobalt ss" arguement. Not mentioning styling, interior, etc...
Mazdaspeed 3 has a close ratio 6-speed transmission with Limited slip differential standard. The cobalt ss t/c only has a 5 speed w/ LSD optional.
I've driven both, the ms3 is way more fun to drive even though its harder to launch. at 40mph pulls not much stands a chance against an ms3

but dodge is also a dumbass for making a SRT4 "CALIBER". I mean come on, the least they could have done was made a completely different car instead of making it an SUV. And since it's going to be a SRT4 Caliber it will most likely cost around 36k, close to the SRT Magnum.

well dodge is coming out with a srt-4 caliber so well see what happens when the new breed of dodge comes out...supposed to have 280 hp and 260 tq originally 300hp but its toned down i guess for wheel spin and torque steer

@ramoncito507 MS3 is in a completely different league. SRT-4 is only cool if you value straight line performance over class and style. New MS3 has a beautiful classy interior w/ leather, power seats, navi, etc., and the SRT-4 doesn't even have power windows in the back so that they could make a turbo car for $22k for teenagers and less affluent people looking for a new, fast car. Oh, and SRT-4 is a Neon. Ugly, poor crash worthiness ... and ... a Neon.

Lol you dumb ass. What year is your Mazda3? No mazda3 from the factory from 2004 on has over 160hp, touring, sport,grand touring doesn't matter. There is only two motors produced for the mazda3 and they are a 2.0 with 148hp and a 2.3 with 156hp. So even if you do put a CAI thats only adding you 10 MAX. Your not even over 200 kid. Now with all the other mods you listed that you "want" to do you might hit the 220hp but your not even close to 250 lmao. "I love dumb kids" :)

I have stage 4, 2.6 pulley,Injen CAI, 60lbs flow matched injectors, shortened belt, Zex Plugs, Spec stage 2 clutch, ingalls torque damper, 4-2-1 honed header, 3"downpipe no/cat, 3"vibrant catback system. Custom Aggressive Hp-Tuners Tune. In short im around the 300 mark to the wheels and would laugh at ur peice of shit mazda kid. Keep dreaming!

all i have is cai with and im pushing around 250 to the wheels....3 inch TBE, intercooler upgrade, and piggy ecu and ill be well over 300 whp......funny lil engine on the cobalt has to change so much to keep up...

Wow kid your car is shit my cobalt would eat your mazda up. I bet the girl just couldn't launch or knows how to. To launch a Cobalt is very tricky and takes a lot of practice. If you would have raced her at 40mph she would have killed you fyi.

I doubt she "burning out". The biggest issue SS/SCs have is wheel hop. If she was having those issues either it was a bad run or she just isn't a good driver. I will try to get some more videos from my races on here.
