I have a doubt, can someone answer to this question plz? SPOILER ALLERT FOR WHO DOESN'T BEAT DEFIANCE. Why Moebius wanted Raziel take the Soul Reaver, he wanted to destroy him with the paradox? I don't think because he is the only hope to kill Kain, the scion of balance, and however the paradox would destroy only the reaver, like in Soul Reaver 1, maybe Moebius wanted to destroy the Soul reaver so that the prophecy of the scion of balance wouldn't happen?
I can't understand this. Who killed human Raziel and his brothers first? It can't be a wraith Raziel... Was it a human Raziel killing themselves and doing the suicide?
@howiescream - They aren't occupying the same space. The same space indicates being in the exact same spot i.e. teleportation fragging.
In otherwise; Space/Time is more complicated than being simple as that. You'd be fully capable of going back in time and slap yourself across the face if you so wanted.

@danielpogreb It's more painful to watch someone sit there and swing for 15 minutes, getting 90% of the attacks blocked. This method 'tricks' the AI, and it blocks far, far less.
I have tried your way of running and swinging, which works the best for a quick match. But to have a true feeling of the fight, you should focus on him, dodge his strong attack(when he does a vertical strike) which makes you go behind him and then immediately strike him making him defenseless.
Thought i should let you know, just in case you haven't tried..
In any case, i wish there was a sequel to this amazing series...

If his life did not keep rising, he would have died. One thing about this game that I always remember. It was nearly impossible to win every boss battle.
@Dravenzoom PC. He's supposed to be invincible (and I'm pretty sure everyone noticed it). ;) When Raziel picks up the Blood Reaver, he comments that it absorbs the blood of his opponents and heals his wounds, and that it's made him invincible.
@Joudas It would be pretty awkward going to spectral realm in this battle. I think that's why developers decided to make him invincible at this part :)
@whaowman Not to mention it'd be pretty anticlimactic to die to sarafan Raziel a bunch of times before you finally kill him. It's the culmination of the story - it just works better when you get to plow through them like some soul-consuming bringer of death.
@Joudas Not only that, but if Raziel goes to the Spectral realm, he drops any item and cannot interact with it until he goes back to the material realm. So in that regard, he would give Sarafan Raziel literally the edge of the Blood Reaver.

@ikeswordsmen you can download or torrent it. Just look for the right "Soul Reaver 2 iso " file to download and be sure to patch it to configure the controls better. Also, it seems to have some problems on vista or 7, so run it on XP. My favorite game of the series.
@Cheddar07: What's also sad is we would be playing those games if Square-Enix would take a big risk in competing with WoW with "Nosgoth Online" built around the same engine as The Witcher. The revenue from that would provide them with cash and justification to continue the series as well as help flesh out the world of Nosgoth further since later games could refer to the MMPORG to canonize events and history ...
Thats kinda strange that I thought Kain was the one who killed Raziel then later resurrected him a vampire. Instead it was Raziel who killed his former human self.
One of my favorite game franchises of all time. Then ending of this one was epic and kinda sad but great! It really sucks that it never got the attention I think it deserves. Although i think that it's biggest downfall was combat system in the SR2 and it's repetitive game play in LoK:Defiance. Place Defiance's combat with SR1 game design and it would make a truly epic game. The story is still by far one of the most engaging and epic of any game i have played, maybe even better than MGS!

Square-Enix needs to let CD make another LOK game. Sick of people saying Defiance tied up all the loose ends. Um, what about the why and how Vorador is alive with his head intact if Defiance makes Blood Omen 2 possible loose end and the even bigger Legacy of Kain loose end?!? Kain's legacy post Defiance is all conjecture thanks to explaining Raziel's legacy over the course of 3 games and leaving it at that -- despite the title LEGACY OF KAIN ...
@MrHookerJay SOOO True Defiance did leave me wanting more i have not played the blood omen games, shame on me yes i know. I think what people mean when they say Defiance tied up all the loose end is in regards to Raziel and the blade. Which i find true, but it did leave a lot more to wonder about the rest of Kain's legacy. Lets hope that 1 they do make a final game and 2 that it is good and doesn't disappoint both in the story and gameplay, but mostly the story :)
@mistamontiel I know it's a real shame the story is amazing there is also a 3rd one too you should really check them out if you haven't already. 3rd is called Legacy of Kain:Defiance.
This is exactly why I have always adored this game series, it has a beautifully haunting narrative that continues to chill me with a strange satisfaction to this day.
@daviereaver I got the feeling after completing Defiance that if Kain had not separated Raziel and the blade that he would not have resolved things with the Elder God. Kain was not aware of the Elder God until Raziel merged with the blade to reveal him. If Raziel had merged here the trail would have been cold (no rewritten history) and Kain would've been wandering for who knows how long with no leads.

@EvanLouKy The key things they achieved in defiance was the removal of Kains only weakness, the black heart of janos Audron that made him vulnerable to Moebius' staff and the purification of Kain and Raziel's souls through the spirit reaver power that Raziel acquires, allowing Kain to see the "true enemy", the elder god

@HittokiriBattousai17 indeed. representing the death of Raziel's mortal self, his rebirth as a vampire, his execution in the abyss, his rebirth as a soul devouring wraith to his return where he was the catalyst of the cycle to begin with. the Soul Reaver's history follows the same path Raziel would enter the reaver, freed when Kain tries to strike him down only for his younger self to reenter the blade. poetry in motion though its a mystery of what happens to the wraith blade after he's entered.
@PhoenixHelix well it's not a mistery that's Raziel from the first timeline (note: were NO Nemesis but the Just was propably) were there was at first No physical Soul Reaver he realized his mistake in killing Kain and thus devised a plan to sacrifice himself to the Blood Reaver to make a weapon that could defeat the true enemy the the second timeline came (Blood Omen 1) and Kain created a paradox
@PhoenixHelix shattering the blade on Raziel the Blade was weak at it's release but SR2 it changed and regained it's memory after touching it's "past" form which ultimately lead to this event a third timeline was created because Kain was spared. In Defiance then came the end for Raziel and he had the same problem as in the first but this time he could use his future Soul (now the Spirit Reaver) to heal and bond with Kain thus freeing his future self from the cycle.
@selemanecu However that last part leaves a fateful flaw: if Kain never dies and forever holds the reaver then how would his younger self ever get hold of it since its the very reaver that Kain took from the Stronghold when Raziel was spared from it that he originally obtained in Avenus, if its not there due to events being changed then how could he claim it? its yet another paradox; a fatal one.

@HittokiriBattousai17 yep it is a "ring" (ring=circle) and when Raziel enter the Spectral Realm you see that the ring changed his shape a little bit which describes in this case the word "postponed"

Blood Omen 2 takes place in the LOK year of 200-400
Soul Reaver 1 takes place from 1500-2000
Soul Reaver 2 follows Kain and Raziel's journey through time. It is a sequel to Soul Reaver 1 but it takes place in the years -30, -500, and -170.
Defiance follows the events of Soul Reaver 2, again going through time. While Kain and Raziel went through time, many paradoxes happened which changed history. These changes are what we know as Blood Omen 2.
@shineyK9 It's because this particular boss blocks about 90% of your attacks if you fight him normally. Doing it this way, the AI doesn't seem to be abl to handle it - it treats it as though you're running past, not attacking, and doesn't block if done right. YouTube has a 10 minute video limit for normal accounts, and with the blocks, it was taking about 14 to get a video of the beginning and end cutscenes and the fight itself. This way shaved off about 5.
I wonder how many people tried super smart tactics to defeat this boss, tryied and tryied, again and again, trying all moves in the book, playing the game to death, to master all there is to master and still unable to defeat this boss, then they saw this video.

Never played the Legacy of Kain series, but I read about it recently. I'm very confused, duh, why is it that Raziel meets his former self but he has no recollection of doing those evil things that his former self did? Does he forget once he turns into a vampire? If so did Kain forget about being a noble too?
There are no cheat codes you are invulnerable in the last part of the game due to the material Soul Reaver blade that has the ability to drain the blood of the targets it hits and sustaning Raziel indefinitly in the material realm and making him unable to enter the spirit realm.
Okay, I'm confused about something. I've played through every LoK game MULTIPLE times, but this still does not make sense. Why would Kain not want Janos revived? If he got "new memories" after he saved Raziel in this scene, he would've known that his younger self would destroy the Device/kill the Sarafan Lord.
@mattdyer0 because if he was revived then the heart of darkness, the thing that ultimately caused his vampiric condition, would be removed from him and he would die or revert back to human.
Who, Janos? That makes no sense. Janos was one of the original vampires. Why his heart is special is anyone's guess, but he's still a vampire nonetheless. Plus, once Kain has the HoD ripped from him, he survived due to his nature as Scion of Balance.
I must say the Sarafan Raziel was incredibly tough.

One of my favorite game franchises of all time. Then ending of this one was epic and kinda sad but great! It really sucks that it never got the attention I think it deserves. Although i think that it's biggest downfall was combat system in the SR2 and it's repetitive game play in LoK:Defiance. Place Defiance's combat with SR1 game design and it would make a truly epic game. The story is still by far one of the most engaging and epic of any game i have played, maybe even better than MGS!

Square-Enix needs to let CD make another LOK game. Sick of people saying Defiance tied up all the loose ends. Um, what about the why and how Vorador is alive with his head intact if Defiance makes Blood Omen 2 possible loose end and the even bigger Legacy of Kain loose end?!? Kain's legacy post Defiance is all conjecture thanks to explaining Raziel's legacy over the course of 3 games and leaving it at that -- despite the title LEGACY OF KAIN ...

@MrHookerJay SOOO True Defiance did leave me wanting more i have not played the blood omen games, shame on me yes i know. I think what people mean when they say Defiance tied up all the loose end is in regards to Raziel and the blade. Which i find true, but it did leave a lot more to wonder about the rest of Kain's legacy. Lets hope that 1 they do make a final game and 2 that it is good and doesn't disappoint both in the story and gameplay, but mostly the story :)

@daviereaver I got the feeling after completing Defiance that if Kain had not separated Raziel and the blade that he would not have resolved things with the Elder God. Kain was not aware of the Elder God until Raziel merged with the blade to reveal him. If Raziel had merged here the trail would have been cold (no rewritten history) and Kain would've been wandering for who knows how long with no leads.

@HittokiriBattousai17 indeed. representing the death of Raziel's mortal self, his rebirth as a vampire, his execution in the abyss, his rebirth as a soul devouring wraith to his return where he was the catalyst of the cycle to begin with. the Soul Reaver's history follows the same path Raziel would enter the reaver, freed when Kain tries to strike him down only for his younger self to reenter the blade. poetry in motion though its a mystery of what happens to the wraith blade after he's entered.

@PhoenixHelix well it's not a mistery that's Raziel from the first timeline (note: were NO Nemesis but the Just was propably) were there was at first No physical Soul Reaver he realized his mistake in killing Kain and thus devised a plan to sacrifice himself to the Blood Reaver to make a weapon that could defeat the true enemy the the second timeline came (Blood Omen 1) and Kain created a paradox

@PhoenixHelix shattering the blade on Raziel the Blade was weak at it's release but SR2 it changed and regained it's memory after touching it's "past" form which ultimately lead to this event a third timeline was created because Kain was spared. In Defiance then came the end for Raziel and he had the same problem as in the first but this time he could use his future Soul (now the Spirit Reaver) to heal and bond with Kain thus freeing his future self from the cycle.

@selemanecu However that last part leaves a fateful flaw: if Kain never dies and forever holds the reaver then how would his younger self ever get hold of it since its the very reaver that Kain took from the Stronghold when Raziel was spared from it that he originally obtained in Avenus, if its not there due to events being changed then how could he claim it? its yet another paradox; a fatal one.

Its fairly hard to understand.
Blood Omen 2 takes place in the LOK year of 200-400
Soul Reaver 1 takes place from 1500-2000
Soul Reaver 2 follows Kain and Raziel's journey through time. It is a sequel to Soul Reaver 1 but it takes place in the years -30, -500, and -170.
Defiance follows the events of Soul Reaver 2, again going through time. While Kain and Raziel went through time, many paradoxes happened which changed history. These changes are what we know as Blood Omen 2.

@shineyK9 It's because this particular boss blocks about 90% of your attacks if you fight him normally. Doing it this way, the AI doesn't seem to be abl to handle it - it treats it as though you're running past, not attacking, and doesn't block if done right. YouTube has a 10 minute video limit for normal accounts, and with the blocks, it was taking about 14 to get a video of the beginning and end cutscenes and the fight itself. This way shaved off about 5.

Never played the Legacy of Kain series, but I read about it recently. I'm very confused, duh, why is it that Raziel meets his former self but he has no recollection of doing those evil things that his former self did? Does he forget once he turns into a vampire? If so did Kain forget about being a noble too?

There are no cheat codes you are invulnerable in the last part of the game due to the material Soul Reaver blade that has the ability to drain the blood of the targets it hits and sustaning Raziel indefinitly in the material realm and making him unable to enter the spirit realm.

Okay, I'm confused about something. I've played through every LoK game MULTIPLE times, but this still does not make sense. Why would Kain not want Janos revived? If he got "new memories" after he saved Raziel in this scene, he would've known that his younger self would destroy the Device/kill the Sarafan Lord.

Who, Janos? That makes no sense. Janos was one of the original vampires. Why his heart is special is anyone's guess, but he's still a vampire nonetheless. Plus, once Kain has the HoD ripped from him, he survived due to his nature as Scion of Balance.
