i have a old A17 panther arms AEG rifle, i would like to fix it up. at first it stoped shooting only twice, i prided the trigger back and forth over the max and eventully it started shoooting.... after a nother month i was i was in the forest shoting and after i stoped firing, well those were my last shots, any way i could get at my gearbox, i find it has noway of getting in and if i did i would need to break the cheap palastic
Unless your gun sounds absolutely perfect to someone who you trust that is an airsoft tech, it is almost always necessary to take the gearbox apart. This is because most airsoft guns need to have their gearboxes shimmed. 1- to make them quieter and smoother. 2- to increase the longevity of the the gearbox. If the gears move side to side, they will have increased wear and tear compared to a shimmed one. If you are new to airsoft guns, it would be smart to work with the tech so that you know at l
Alright, I need some help. If you pause at 5:20, the piece to the right, is the wire going from the mechbox to the battery go under it, or just leave it be?
@Airsoft2897 If you have a plastic gearbox, chances are the gun is not worth upgrading. But to answer your question, it depends on how stiff of a spring is in the new metal gearbox. (but probably will need a better motor).
Thanks for this video. When I tried to take off the upper receiver to replace the battery I ended up cutting a wire due to faulty manufacturing and now I have to rewire the whole thing. Gotta love good ole Chinese manufacturing.
@trueshotairsoft I was thinking the same thing, but I don't think it would matter since the positive and negative wires are connected to the motor then to the battery. As long as you wire them to the corresponding +/- connectors on your MOSFET or battery it should be good to go.
@JGamr12 Is your motor just out of adjustment? Does it make a high-pitched whine when you pull the trigger? On an m4/m16 the adjustment screw is on the bottom of the pistol grip handle, older models use a small allen key while newer models have a slotted screw. I would check out your adjustment first, after a while they are known to vibrate themselves out of adjustment. Also make sure the other screws holding that bottom plate in are tight.
same with r3con,, my shit worked for 30 min, died, so i charge it, next day i put it on semi, or left it and i plugged in the battery and it went crazy. it does stop on safe but same semi-auto it goes and goes.
two days later i left it run, try switching, pulling the trigger maybe make it snap out of it. now it doesn't shoot at all. i keep hearing it could be the trigger connectors? all i have done so far is take out the motor in the handle(hand grip), i couldn't get to the gearbox, smells
i just got my jg m4, 4 days ago and its already broken. when ever i plug in the battery it starts shooting with out the trigger being pressed. and as thats going on ITS ON SAFE!!wtf
i have a jg m4 enhanced version and im having some trouble with it. Also I am not very good with the guns internals. when i fire on full auto and hold the trigger for about 2 seconds after that it wont fire on semi and when it shoots on full auto the bb's fly about 10 feet and it makes a weird noise. any suggestion?
Since you obviously know about disassembling and stuff, i have one question. I'm buying a jg m4 carbine (plastic body) and i plan on replacing the entire hop up and bucking unit. Even though jg has a plastic body, would i be able to fit it with a one piece polycarbonate hopup or are there modifications i would need to make to get it to fit. If there are, could you please tell me what i would need to do. My m4 now has an "original" style hopup and im not too good with internals. Thanks.
Obviously there is alot of debate on how good JG really is. I can tell you as a fact the new 2010 JG (mosfet especially) is much better quality but if it is made in china, it will never be perfect, some simple overlooks can mess up these weapons. If you truly want a weapon that will last for years no worry then buy from KWA they are THE BEST.
Wow...5:50....i was vey iritaded by that little Thingy on the String...it took me long enough to figure out, what it was, that i didnt notice what he was talking about in the rest^^
got a question found tons of plastic shrapnel in the gearbox wha is it plz dont tell me ur shooting 12 grams where did u find the wire that connects to gearbox
@50cliber none. They are exactly the same in function. only difference is the quality and performance of the pieces put in, and how thick the actual gearbox body is. Other than that nothing. A V2 gearbox is a specific type of universal gearbox. uses the same parts, just of different qualities and performance ratings. a tokio marui V2 gearbox is the same as a Dboy V2 gear box, and a Systema V2 gearbox is the same as a tokio marui, they just have varying degrees of quality and performance.
Some time ago I assembled a Ver2 JG gearbox with a m125 Spring. It was really a torture to hold the spring while I close the two sides of the gearbox.
I am planning to install m150 spring, and I am scared of this process again. Do you know any tricks to hold the spring?
This video was well made, but I still wouldn't trust myself to pull the whole gun apart. I found that that screw near the trigger can be tapped out with a screw driver as long as it is done carefully. Nothing worse than breaking a GOOD gun like this!
i feel like an idiot. i dont klnow anything about the inside of an airsoft gun. mine broke, i wen in there and shivd stuff around now it works, so i gess watever i did fixed it. is that what the gearbox is? that thing u showd us at very begining of vid?

@mrpoopdaddy Dude, what is your problem? Do you get pleasure out of cursing out little kids or something? And by the way there is nothing wrong with JG, I have had this gun for a year and a half and have had no problems with it what so ever.
I am considering buying a JG version 2 gear box for my Ares Scar Light but I was wondering if it would fit ok in the gun. Because JG is like the best affordable internal part producer. And can anyone tell me if a VFC Scar stock will fit on my Ares Scar because my stock completely broke apart. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!
I need help pn taking off the stock, and finding a replacement, Anyone that can give me a link to a working crane stock and a link to a tut thatll help me dissasemble the stock.
ahahahah i cant fucking believe this shit. this was explained so half assed and i STILL managed to get it....... im at a loss.... ahah. good video man. i really did learn a bit.
what works pretty good for me is putting gear grease on the side that sticks into the hole, that usually holds it in long enough to get the gearbox back together. some people use a magnet on the opposite side of the gearbox but i'm not sure if it actually works.
id go with JG any day of the week. in truth, stock gears with JG are made of stronger material than stock TM gears.
on my JG upgrades are piston body with metal teeth, spring guide with bearing, custom made spring that sttles at 450fps and a 2200mah 25c-35c turnigy 11.1v lipo.
im pretty much satisfied with the stock motor but you can always switch to a more powerful motor for more rof.
Tell ya the truth, thats actually true about the NEW tm guns cause they are using shittier material. My TM M4 S System from last year has the original XYT gears and boy, they are steel but are MUCH thicker than the JG gears and yes I have both my TM gearbox and my JG gearbox opened up right now as I am typing. JG gears aren't bad its just that the reason why the guns break is cause poor shimming and over excessive high fps springs. They are great internally but need a lighter spring and shims
@fanta411 not if you know what ur doing... i take mine apart all the time for maintenance, also, his wires were disconnected, ut its not hard if you know what ur doing... practice on a broken gearbox
JG is the best airsoft gun company in China because all of the inner part in the gearbox were 100% copied from tokyo marui, sometimes even better if adjusted by expirenced gunsmith.
@LittleAngus1014 tokyo marui suck and thet didnt copy off them on this this is why this one is good Tokyo Marui are all plastic and crappy internals the only thing thats good is the hop up so im going to spend 740 for a plastic piece of shit just for the hop up no i will just buy this and go buy a better hop up for 50 buck and have a perfect 200 dollar gun and plz show me a tokyo marui that shoots 400 out of the box
@LittleAngus1014 nah the internals are nowhere near as good. they perform with higher FPS but are nowhere near as reliable. if properly taken care of, tokio maruis will last for YEARS. The externals, though "metal" are zinc alloy and pieces of easily broken crap. Tokio marui, though plastic externals, is some of the highest quality high impact plastic available. You cannot compare JG to tokio marui. however i will not contest that it is the best chinese airsoft gun producer.
JG is chinese brand is not recommended...look how much work u have to do to disassemble this gun..sorry.. only my opinion..JG jus plainly cheaply made of materials
@Veero241 this is what most stock airsoft parts look like (with the exception of g&g, systema, ICS, and a few other brands), but even TM is similar to this when its stock, and classic army can be even worse than this
@NickAden13 click the button on the gun that is right next to the thing u pull back to open up the hop up it realeses pressure on the gun probably a littlie to late to answer haha
Good vid and tut. But how do you remove the front iron sights and replace it with a flip up front sight?? I have a DPMS M4A1 Carbine. and looking to change that so i can mount scopes with out the carry handle in the way. Please help me out. thanks.
very simple. i took off my flip ups and attache a mauri cause the flip ups are crap. there should be 2 screws or pins along the bayonet lug take them out if srcews un screw them. if pins tap them out using a finishing nail and small hammer. do the same to the sling mount if you want to. see on bottom if theres a set screw if so take it out too then remove flash hider and slide it off. remember the hider is right= loose left=tight also make sure you remove the hiders set screw too.
couldnt help but notice the green bb in the carpet. looks to me that it is a cheap .12 gram from wal mart. hope your not firing them in your gun. but since you know how to take apart a gearbox you should know the dangers of using .12 grams.
Hey man, can you please help me out? I was firing my gun the other day and all of a sudden I heard a popping sound like something wasn't giving enough air pressure to propel the BB. So the BB's werent firing at all and their still not. does this have something to do with the air chamber or something? Thanks if you answer
Never mind, I found my problem. Fuckin BB was stuck in the barrel after the hop-up. I only noticed that after I had everything apart and was JUST about to pull out the gear box. fuck you bb
hey dude it sounds like one of the o rings broke or something and yea that makes the air well airtight so that would be some tough maintenance but its possible to do it yourself
Well actually it was a damn BB that was stuck past hop-up haha. I found that out when I had everything apart. I was like ah man wtf. I used .12g BB's that i never used. i was out of .20g....so ya, lol never using those again
the handguard size, and jesus christ, look at a god damn review. This one is a long one. But if you want an upgrade, get a new spring, as the gun will only last 1.5 years without a less strong spring.
I know this is going to sound really nooby but what did you use to take the pins out at 5:15 ? I've been trying really hard but they JUST WONT COME OUT. Please help
my friends M4 stopped firiing last week and we searched high and low to find what was wrong, we tested the power at many points on the gun and the current passes everywhere, so when I heard the thing about the trigger, I understood what we forgot lol, he fell during a game last year and the gun is odd since then so that must be it.
can you help me? everytime i assemble my gearbox then try to push the piston to see if the gears the will receive the motor will work is not working at all... no rotation is going on on the lowest gear of the box... :( help would be appreciated :D
And honestly, I am considering this or an Echo 1 VP5 or JG MP5 Navy both full metal. Does the plastic body make a big difference, or does it still feel like metal? And is it a black body and where did you get it from?
I don't own any JG or Echo 1 MP5's. However, I HAVE used both - the metal is very low quality and feels like plastic. I suggest that you save up and buy Echo 1's new Task Master MP5A4 for $205 at Evike. The metal is aluminum and the internals can take a lipoly battery stock.
There are no metal MP5's on the market that fit your budget. I suggest choosing a different weapon. The AGM M4 line is within your budget at AirSplat, and they are full metal with decent internals.
The internals are actually very bad. The FPS it shoots is WAY too high, leading to it cannibalizing itself (I've experienced this many times). If you're looking for a good airsoft gun for that price that has decent FPS and accuracy, I suggest the JG G36k or G36c. They're not metal, but neither are the real ones.
A weaker spring would increase internal durability (it might even fix it completely), but the externals are still total crap. A good alternative would be the Cyma CM.027-J (which is an MP5A5). The newer models have much better gearboxes and have lower rated springs for increased internal durability, as well as a stock 6.04mm tightbore.
Not quite. You can change it out for one with a flashlight that looks a lot better. Also, if you can find an RIS model (Cyma, G&G, AND JG have that model), it's not quite "classic MP5", but it allows you to use a lot more accessories.
That is actually just a myth - they just make your gun horribly inaccurate. The idea is that the BB shatters inside the hop-up unit and blows back into the gearbox, but it all just gets blown down the barrel.
Just so everyone knows, it's a pain in the ass to keep everything in place while putting it back together... You have gears popping out at you while you're trying to keep your piston and spring in then when you push the piston and gears back in the trigger will jump out.
I'll be investing in preshimmed gears just to make the project easier when I do the next internal upgrades.
2 simple steps- 1st unscrew the screw on the bottom of mag, 2nd- look near the mag catch on side and right below theres a thing u pin push in on both sides while doing that pull top feed part out of metal mag case
i have a old A17 panther arms AEG rifle, i would like to fix it up. at first it stoped shooting only twice, i prided the trigger back and forth over the max and eventully it started shoooting.... after a nother month i was i was in the forest shoting and after i stoped firing, well those were my last shots, any way i could get at my gearbox, i find it has noway of getting in and if i did i would need to break the cheap palastic

@fanta411 not if you know what ur doing... i take mine apart all the time for maintenance, also, his wires were disconnected, ut its not hard if you know what ur doing... practice on a broken gearbox
MrBigfatturd 2 years ago
JG is the best airsoft gun company in China because all of the inner part in the gearbox were 100% copied from tokyo marui, sometimes even better if adjusted by expirenced gunsmith.
LittleAngus1014 2 years ago 18
@LittleAngus1014 actually, everything is right, except jg is based in hong kong :P
MrBigfatturd 2 years ago
@LittleAngus1014 tokyo marui suck and thet didnt copy off them on this this is why this one is good Tokyo Marui are all plastic and crappy internals the only thing thats good is the hop up so im going to spend 740 for a plastic piece of shit just for the hop up no i will just buy this and go buy a better hop up for 50 buck and have a perfect 200 dollar gun and plz show me a tokyo marui that shoots 400 out of the box
ghirardelliify 1 year ago
@LittleAngus1014 erm.. TM isn't exactly "the best" airsoft parts/weapons
neovictorius 1 year ago
@LittleAngus1014 yeah the best of the work kind of airsoft gun.
xxxxgerbilxxxx 1 year ago
@LittleAngus1014 nah the internals are nowhere near as good. they perform with higher FPS but are nowhere near as reliable. if properly taken care of, tokio maruis will last for YEARS. The externals, though "metal" are zinc alloy and pieces of easily broken crap. Tokio marui, though plastic externals, is some of the highest quality high impact plastic available. You cannot compare JG to tokio marui. however i will not contest that it is the best chinese airsoft gun producer.

sangminlee1234 7 months ago
@sangminlee1234 G&P is in Hong Kong. They play by different rules there so it's not really considered China.
CubicTime 7 months ago
JG is chinese brand is not recommended...look how much work u have to do to disassemble this gun..sorry.. only my opinion..JG jus plainly cheaply made of materials
Veero241 2 years ago
JG G3 t3k1 is NOT. full metal gearbox, full metal inner/outer barrels, and metal sights. expertly constructed, heavy avs plastic body.
DaKamodo 2 years ago
@Veero241 this is what most stock airsoft parts look like (with the exception of g&g, systema, ICS, and a few other brands), but even TM is similar to this when its stock, and classic army can be even worse than this

@NickAden13 reset the piston by simply opening the gearbox, if tht doesnt work, experiment!!! :)

pull down the anti reversal latch. that releases the spring tension. DO NOT OPEN THE GEARBOX WITH THE SPRING COMPRESSED!!! parts will fly everywhere

Good vid and tut. But how do you remove the front iron sights and replace it with a flip up front sight?? I have a DPMS M4A1 Carbine. and looking to change that so i can mount scopes with out the carry handle in the way. Please help me out. thanks.
KenobiObiJeff 2 years ago
very simple. i took off my flip ups and attache a mauri cause the flip ups are crap. there should be 2 screws or pins along the bayonet lug take them out if srcews un screw them. if pins tap them out using a finishing nail and small hammer. do the same to the sling mount if you want to. see on bottom if theres a set screw if so take it out too then remove flash hider and slide it off. remember the hider is right= loose left=tight also make sure you remove the hiders set screw too.

Metal Gear?!
goyaffa192000 2 years ago
couldnt help but notice the green bb in the carpet. looks to me that it is a cheap .12 gram from wal mart. hope your not firing them in your gun. but since you know how to take apart a gearbox you should know the dangers of using .12 grams.
CRAZYAIRSOFTER123 2 years ago
Is that the stock springuide?, or e metal one?
bauhausman 2 years ago
Hey man, can you please help me out? I was firing my gun the other day and all of a sudden I heard a popping sound like something wasn't giving enough air pressure to propel the BB. So the BB's werent firing at all and their still not. does this have something to do with the air chamber or something? Thanks if you answer
MonteLSV6 2 years ago
Never mind, I found my problem. Fuckin BB was stuck in the barrel after the hop-up. I only noticed that after I had everything apart and was JUST about to pull out the gear box. fuck you bb
MonteLSV6 2 years ago
hey dude it sounds like one of the o rings broke or something and yea that makes the air well airtight so that would be some tough maintenance but its possible to do it yourself
ceeloo55 2 years ago
Well actually it was a damn BB that was stuck past hop-up haha. I found that out when I had everything apart. I was like ah man wtf. I used .12g BB's that i never used. i was out of .20g....so ya, lol never using those again

Is there any way to take the spring out without having to do all of that?

whats the difference between a short and long motor, and is there a video from the gun actually fully assembled?
0arv09678 2 years ago
the handguard size, and jesus christ, look at a god damn review. This one is a long one. But if you want an upgrade, get a new spring, as the gun will only last 1.5 years without a less strong spring.
littlecheckerbox 2 years ago
i want to now how to upgrade the gear box motor and spring
snowflake4399 2 years ago
Your gun will break if you upgrade it any more. Do you mean downgrade it?
littlecheckerbox 2 years ago
I know this is going to sound really nooby but what did you use to take the pins out at 5:15 ? I've been trying really hard but they JUST WONT COME OUT. Please help
can622 2 years ago
how easy is to upgrade the spring to a 130? with a new spring guide with ball bearing?
thanks
Mindcrime13 2 years ago
As easy as on any other airsoft gun :/ Relatively easy if you know your way around a gearbox.
littlecheckerbox 2 years ago
ok yeahh i took my jg m4 pdw apart and put it together but with a downgraded m110 spring and it will not shoot...does anyone know what the problem is

my friends M4 stopped firiing last week and we searched high and low to find what was wrong, we tested the power at many points on the gun and the current passes everywhere, so when I heard the thing about the trigger, I understood what we forgot lol, he fell during a game last year and the gun is odd since then so that must be it.

can you help me? everytime i assemble my gearbox then try to push the piston to see if the gears the will receive the motor will work is not working at all... no rotation is going on on the lowest gear of the box... :( help would be appreciated :D
ianmarkdizon 2 years ago
Tighten/loosen the screws on the motor plate. Keep adjusting its position and test firing it until it works.
MrSniper16 2 years ago
just the other night, it finally worked but it suddenly stopped.. i have to rework it :(((
i hate opening mechboxes :((
ianmarkdizon 2 years ago
What kind of motor does this gun have? I'm getting the '09 version, and want to know for upgrading.
littlecheckerbox 2 years ago
Long type motor. I suggest either a Tokyo Marui EG1000 or an AMP T500L.
MrSniper16 2 years ago
And honestly, I am considering this or an Echo 1 VP5 or JG MP5 Navy both full metal. Does the plastic body make a big difference, or does it still feel like metal? And is it a black body and where did you get it from?
littlecheckerbox 2 years ago
I don't own any JG or Echo 1 MP5's. However, I HAVE used both - the metal is very low quality and feels like plastic. I suggest that you save up and buy Echo 1's new Task Master MP5A4 for $205 at Evike. The metal is aluminum and the internals can take a lipoly battery stock.
MrSniper16 2 years ago
I am on an EXTREMELY tight budget now, like under 150, what can you suggest me? Preferable full metal, but something that feels metal.
littlecheckerbox 2 years ago
There are no metal MP5's on the market that fit your budget. I suggest choosing a different weapon. The AGM M4 line is within your budget at AirSplat, and they are full metal with decent internals.
MrSniper16 2 years ago
And the JG MP5 SD6?
littlecheckerbox 2 years ago
Same boat as the other JG MP5's.
MrSniper16 2 years ago
Well, I've heard good things about it, so in your opinion, are the internals not good?
littlecheckerbox 2 years ago
The internals are actually very bad. The FPS it shoots is WAY too high, leading to it cannibalizing itself (I've experienced this many times). If you're looking for a good airsoft gun for that price that has decent FPS and accuracy, I suggest the JG G36k or G36c. They're not metal, but neither are the real ones.
MrSniper16 2 years ago
Would a weaker spring be good?
littlecheckerbox 2 years ago
A weaker spring would increase internal durability (it might even fix it completely), but the externals are still total crap. A good alternative would be the Cyma CM.027-J (which is an MP5A5). The newer models have much better gearboxes and have lower rated springs for increased internal durability, as well as a stock 6.04mm tightbore.
MrSniper16 2 years ago
Maybe, but I sure hate the standard mp5's handguard, but can't change that.
littlecheckerbox 2 years ago
Not quite. You can change it out for one with a flashlight that looks a lot better. Also, if you can find an RIS model (Cyma, G&G, AND JG have that model), it's not quite "classic MP5", but it allows you to use a lot more accessories.

motoxhell1 2 years ago
i c how it broke if u notice the 0.12 gram BB over the gearbox.... they ruin ur internals u no
AmazingAirsoft 2 years ago
That is actually just a myth - they just make your gun horribly inaccurate. The idea is that the BB shatters inside the hop-up unit and blows back into the gearbox, but it all just gets blown down the barrel.
MrSniper16 2 years ago
hey man thanx for the video it really helped alot!! Now i know how to take it apart really well!
EOM19 2 years ago
ahaha thanks i didnt know how to get the gearbox out becasue this is my first aeg upgrade but i seem to know what i'm doing
getstuck185 2 years ago
Just so everyone knows, it's a pain in the ass to keep everything in place while putting it back together... You have gears popping out at you while you're trying to keep your piston and spring in then when you push the piston and gears back in the trigger will jump out.
I'll be investing in preshimmed gears just to make the project easier when I do the next internal upgrades.
