the footswitch socket in the TSLmarshall head is a terrible design, only the solder joints hold it in place and after a few years or months of pushing the connector in it becomes loose and snaps, after having mine resoldered twice I drilled and attached a strap that sits behind the connector to take the strain.. as I said awful feeble design that they knew wouldnt last
Help me out guys.....when I tried to tin the pins....the solder wouldn't take, so I held the iron against them for ages...and the plastic of the plug melted and the pins moved. Next I tried not tinning the pins....but then it took ages for the wires to solder to the pins...and the plastic melted again - what am I doing wrong??!!!
@wellsww Thanks for posting the video. Maybe you can help me - I am experiencing a related, but somewhat opposite problem. The footswitch controller socket on the back of my TSL 100 is loose. Do you have any suggestions/experience with reattaching, repairing, or perhaps replacing the foot switch input socket? Thanks in advance.
should be a simple soldering job (have fixed several solder joints myself), though there will be a bit of disassembly and such that should be taken with care. A great amp to work on but tearing into it is not for the faint of heart ;)
thanx man!!! Very helpful video. I've got really massive head ache because of my footswitch been teared up by the root. And I had no idea about the place of which cable. Thank you very fucking much! )))
@wellsww Here's my problem. I have a Marshall TSL with a 6 pin footswitch. I think I have a problem with the effects loop switch. When nothing is plugged into the EF loop, the LED on the footswitch is NOT suppose to light up when pressed. Says so in the manual. However mine does and it somehow switches my amp to a dirty channel. Also even when the EF switch is off, I can switch between clean and dirty, but only one dirty channel, not both like it used to. What does this sound like to you?
@bandit7498 If the amp works correctly without the footswitch than most likely it is your footswitch, and I would suspect the cable as the buttons and circuit board are usually pretty robust.

Great info! My problem was the opposite, the cable was broken near the foot switch. But I had no idea wich color that matched wich pin. Now I know!

Would I be able to put in another socket in the amp?
I mean I really want to be able to switch my amp (randall rh50t it has the same 6pin din connection) in the same time as I switch my midi products.
Couldn't I put in a stereo jack socket or a midisocket?
Thanx in advance

The footswitch has a very simple layout, 5 toggle switches, a logic gate chip and some diodes being the main components.
