Apparently, Mcdonald Douglas had many flaws in their designs. The DC10 cargo door incident. The Alaska 261 incident. However, Im confused because both Valujet and Alaska Airlines were responsible for their accidents, but there are several other fatal accidents that have occured with Mcdonald Douglas. Really Strange.
wonder why they nosed it over so hard? if a plane catches fire SOP is to perform an emergency descent, but that involves a heavily-banked turning descent, not nose straight over into the ground like that. maybe the fire compromised the elevator controls.
I found out years after the flight that my friend Andy Nebel was killed. The dorm he was an RD for was named in his honor.....Nebel Dorm, Lees McRae College, NC. He was on his way to his mom for Mothers day. RIP Andy, I never had a chance to say goodbye.
VALUJET WAS FLYING OLD AIRCRAFT BOUGHT FROM DELTA.. ALSO OFFERING CHEAP TICKETS. THEY SCRIMPED ON CERTAIN ITEMS SUCH AS THESE OXYGEN GENERATORS.. CHEAPER IS NOT ALWAYS BETTER.. AIRTRAN IS A MUCH BETTER AIRLINE WITH NEW PLANES AND BETTER SAFEFY STANDARDS.
A few of us pilots came to our own conclusion about the final nose dive. With the last report from the flight attendant to the cockpit that the entire cabin was on fire, we think the passengers were on fire as well. When the cockpit crew saw what was happening, she just pushed the nose over to get it over as soon as possible realizing there was nothing they could do.
Very interesting statement. So you think the nosedive was intentional made to put the passengers out of their misery ? I never thought about this option. In the CVR record the last thing heard was "loud rushing air", no comment from the flight crew. So your theory means Capt. Kubeck put the plane into a deadly nosedive without informing her FO about the intention to kill everybody ASAP ! No, I don´t think so. No Pilot would do that. Never ever !
@countrytalk97 There were NO survivors. It took them some time to even find the crash site due to the fact that the entire plane (passengers and all) was buried in the mud.
@countrytalk97 you may have flown with a survivor of the eastern airlines flight 401 which also crashed into the everglades. that one had survivors. 592 didnt
Flight Deck crew use oxygen bottles routed through a regulator to a mask for emergency.
The fire was a result of a Passenger Oxygen generator that produce extream heat when in use.
The generators were being shipped in the cargo compartment and not properly packaged by a contractor ( no longer in business) . Apparently in flt. the cargo shifted and a generator was triggered.
Now I believe all Oxygen Generators are shipped by ground.
true, i think it depends on the airline with the dc-9s. valujet was a cheap airline and probably didn't take care of their dc-9s as well as NWA does. northwest's dc9s are very safe.
the cause of the crash were the mechanisms which let oxygen through the masks, they contain a volatile gas and they were opened by a failure in them, and there happened to be a large rubber tire there but i dont know what exactly ignited the gas
Finally! A FSX video that doesn't lag! Every other video I found of this was running at like 3 FPS. Good job.

This crash had nothing to do with the type of jet-it was caused by a ground crew putting oxygen canisters into the hold which started a fire.

Jet City merged with the Iron Knuckles DC-9 panel. Now there is the Sky Simulations DC-9 which is much better.
