which effects are you talking about? if you're talking about the overlays/superimpositions, then it's just a simple thing called a 'blending mode' that can be found in any adobe product -

you could lay a photo of the rapper over a texture, for example, then set the layer blending mode to overlay and the texture will show through. just a tidbit, but hope it helps
