  • @Deadwind002 - I've found a certain exercise helpful in understanding this better; Replace the words "the collective consensus" for the word "government". If you try that, soon you will begin to understand that in a balanced system of individuals who's primary concern is the "the collective consensus" of the people would never need to organize at all. But you see it isn't. Why?

Because certain people believe they should be FREE to TAKE everything they are capable of. It is their DIVINE RIGHT!!

  • Get help from neighbors ? That's what the government IS !

  • I'm the smartest person on the internet. I am way smarter than all of you and smarter than Olbermann. Everyone should listen to me; if a person is sick they should just pray to Jesus. Pray that sick away and try some blood-letting. A big government is evil, and a small government is useless. JESUS is the only answer you silly-billies. Donate to my, i mean your, local mega-church today and start getting those blessing as soon as tomorrow!

    Amen

  • @TheExomorph Lol, nice text. On a side note, if Jesus would be my ruler, would he not be the smallest government any man can conceive? Thus, being completely useless? Just a thought.

  • The whole plan i to destroy america...and americans and only make it for the Rich and wealthy. Were fucked all the way .

  • Thats just what the drug companies would like you do believe so they can justify ripping everyone off. If that was so they wouldnt be raking in the huge profits they do.

  • The government has as much money as people are willing to give it. Americans pay less tax than most countries in the world and because of this cant look after its own people with decent health care.

  • I say that everyone that wants Universal health care, then those in favor.... PAY FOR IT! and for all those uncovered!

  • MSNBC talking points..... Making Sorry News By Contradiction...

  • Here's something scary to me.

We have "problems" with health insurance, so our congress tries to shove a solution down the throat of the American people. A "solution" that creates a bureaucracy in charge of our health.

A bureaucracy in charge of the health of all of America! I would laugh if it wasn't so serious.

  • Oh darling! Please believe me - I'll never do you, no harrrm.

Believe me when I tell you, I'd never do you no harmm.

Oh ho Darling! If you leave me - I'll never maaake it alone - believe me when I tell you hoooo - I'll never doo you no harrm.

When you told me, HOOO - You didn't need me anymore - well you know, I nearly broke down, and cried - WHEN you tohold me - you didn't need me anymore - you know I nearly broke down and DIhi-ih-hide.

I NEVER DO YOU NO HAAARRM

  • fag

  • @Slipknotyk06 so greedy profit- driven drug companies are a better solution? or just do nothing and see what happens?

  • @TheTyaptyap - The government is not an endless money supply. We simply cannot afford the solution given. Period. Doing nothing would be better than what we did.

  • @TheTyaptyap - If you want to get back at drug companies, you need to do your research. Drugs are expensive because of the research that large drug companies do. Insulin research costs hundreds of millions to billions, and has saved nearly a billion lives from diabetes in 30 years. Yes, the cost of that insulin research was passed on to other drugs produced by the same companies. The cost-to-benefit ratio is the best for insulin since the advent of a malaria vaccine!

  • god i hope your right.

  • republicans are just corrupt corporate stooges..they work not for the country but only for their masters the corporations and wealthy elite and themselves.. criminals all..let ur neighbor do surgery on u.. sounds like a good idea that should replace healthcare

  • My belief of the free market is not of competition & profit. It's the FREEDOM to market. What you mention: unbridled competition for greedy profit purposes ... that's only one extreme variation of the spectrum of "freedom." Not everyone who makes a profit uses it for greedy purposes. Many give to charities, support family, invest in education, research and help many ways. Competition is just a market force. It can be used for bad purpose or good purpose. Knife: spreads butter & kills.

  • In our hearts, my friend, we may be one. But the regulation you wish to dismatle was built because of greed. Our guardian, however, became a guard, and finally a sadistic task master. You want what we had (or seemed to), but we cannot go back. 95% of the wealth is held by 1% of the population. Who the hell wouldn't want to redistribute that? Are they more cunning, brilliant, talented, indomidable, tenacious, inventive and persistent. Yes, probably hell yes, but this is where it all breaks down.

  • Let the free market take care of itself were in the hell have we heard this from the damn Republicans and it only get worse its time for public option and its time for change.

  • @disturbed: you're mistaken. I'm not a republican or democrat. I'm an American. Believe in freedom, the Constitution, limited government. And the free market. WE HAVEN'T HAD FREE MARKET economy in health care. The gov has been controlling it for a long time. That's why we're in this mess in the first place. It's very sad to see so many people looking to the gov for help when they've caused the problem in the first place. Repubs & Democrats are the same. Just 2 sides of one coin. Very sad.

  • how many of these stupid people in the audience went and helped that woman ? did they sit with the husband give her money to pay for care ?? HELL NO !! hope all of em end up like that woman and then see what they say

  • The video has it right; members of Congress HAVE govt paid health care! Why is it OK for them, but not everybody else? Also: if you have employer based health care, you do NOT have your own health care coverage; your EMPLOYER does. YOU lose your job, YOU lose your health care. What part of this is so hard to understand??

  • Congress has that insurance b/c they're gov employees. Everyone should be a gov employee? Why does everyone look to the gov to provide for them? What did they teach you in school or family that made you believe the fed gov had to provide you with all this stuff? Besides, they caused this problem in health care/insurance. Now they offer the solution. How convenient. Yet they haven't shown any legislation they're proposing for the people to read. Where is it? Why health care before food to eat?

  • Where do you get your false information? Now let's see...$700+ billion bailouts for Wall Street is ok, but a basic need everyone has like health care is socialism?? How much longer do you need to be ripped off by the health insurance companies before you say enough?? Will it have to be only when you have a medical condition and are denied care that you finally wake up?? Do you like our current lose your job, 'lose your health care' system? Yes,and wait until you go bankrupt over a medical bill.

  • @paolo: Part 1. (1) what part of my info is false?

    (2) I didn't say bailouts were ok. I worked hard to stop them. (3) I didn't say health care was socialism. I haven't seen any recent legislation to know what to call it. HR 3200 & HR 676 are FACIST. I haven't read any bills besides those 2. (4) I have terminal illness & there is no cure. I haven't had insurance for 10 years. I go to the VA. The health care there is horrid. (5) I don't have a job, I can't work at a job. I have been bankrupt.

  • We have THE most expensive health care system in the world--by far. This is because the health care industry gives people like Max Baucus $3 million since 2003. The current, for-profit insurance system is FAR more costly than Medicare's or the VA's costs. And the insurance companies routinely deny benefits.14,000 people lose their health care benefits every day. These facts point to a CLEAR need for government intervention to insure fairness. The Baucus bill is sucks. It won't last long.

  • @ Paolo: You're absolutely right, mostly. But when you say Medicare & VA costs are lower, how are you calculating "costs" and how do you define the benefits? I know many people, self included, who have terminal and/or life-threatening disease that could be treated but won't go to VA b/c the care is as mentioned. The gov is the problem. They will not & cannot fix this. But they won't allow us (are they our parents?!) to fix it. They have control. & will keep control. unless we don't let them.

  • olbermann..............youre an idiot

  • I have great insurance, but even the right would have to admit how broken the system is. Let me ask you this, Republicans?: Have you ever lost your job? If yes, what did you do for insurance? Second, if you were able to get insurance, did you have a pre-existing condition? If so, were you rejected. Also, even when you have insurance, they try to deny coverage and benefits and shift everything to the paying, insured member. They are a monopoly and we need competition.

  • We need competition, but the fed gov involvement won't be competition. Nobody, no business can compete with the fed gov. They have unlimited funds and resources. Besides, what has the fed gov ever done that makes you believe they'll do this right? Post office? loses money. Amtrak? Loses money. VA? it's a mess, slow, ineffient, no compassion. I can't imagine why anyone would want the fed gov involved anymore than they are. It's insanity.

  • Marleyites: Please get your facts straight. The Post Office is not supported by the government. Second, the VA actually delivers excellent medical care to our wounded veterans. I can't address Amtrak, so I will refrain from commenting. What's ethical about insurance companies denying care because of pre-existing condition? Or, worse yet, denying care even when you are insured? Germany, Switzerland, France, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Canada--all socialist countries; seem to do just fine.

  • tikidevil: the US Post Office is subsidized by the US gov. You're wrong about that. I go to the VA & I know the care is substandard & generally other vets believe the same. I'm sure some are satisfied, most are not, without numbers it's your opinion vs. my opinion. I didn't say it was ethical for insurance co.'s to deny care. It's not the fed gov's job to enforce ethics. Like it's ethical to give trillions in bailouts? A truly free market would weed out the unethical or dishonest.

  • It's astounding to me that ANYONE other than those who profiteer from the status quo could defend the US healthcare system. The US system is THE most expensive IN THE WORLD! And it has the harshest rationing. It's really rich to hear Republicans say, "Government is not the solution", Why? Republicans spend a great deal of their time satisfying their patrons: Big Pharma, Big Insurance, Wall Street, etc. Govt is GREAT if you have enough money. Republican Party, the party of the wealthy.

  • tikidevil

You are exactly right!!!! Except those countries are hybrid Democracies. With a mix of Capitalism, Socialism, and Monarchism.

  • @ti-devil: wrong about the post office. copy/paste from USPS site ...

October 2008 The United States Postal Service is the one government agency that touches every American on a daily basis. Through rain, sleet, and snow, Postal Service employees ... As you are probably aware, Postal Service faces serious financial challenges. Ruth Goldway, PostalRegulatoryCommission. VA GIVES EXCELLENT CARE? Last month, VA letters to 11,000: exposed to HepC & HIV during colonoscopy (equip not sterile)

  • Yeah, like private schools can't compete with public ones. You make so much sense. Yeah insurance Co's! They are so great! Keep fighting for them.

  • You will never get any change from the right. They like things just the way they are. They don't believe in the truth, compassion, science or the facts, so there's no reasoning with them. Democrats need to ram through their legislation just like Bush did. Don't attempt to dialog with them. Don't reason with them. Don't listen to them. Do what you were elected to do and do it now! The Republicans only understand raw power and brute force. Use it!

  • Hey Tom, open your house to every single person without insurance in OKC. This is all about politics. The GOP can't let Obama get any legislation through. Even if said legislation will help Americans and better the system. Pathetic. Stop the lies about healthcare reform Reoubs. There is no "government takeover." Just competition!

  • The GOP can't stop him.

  • Oh yea, and that lady at 1:20 was nothing but a left wing plant, by the unions. She is an astro-turf plant....

oh wait...only the right wing plants astro turfer????

    Sorry, didn't know that...

  • Why don't the democrats just pass this bill without republicans?

  • state run media, what losers, the dems are sheep

  • funny, the most noise, I mean just sensless obfuscation comes from the right, who chant the same thing over and over, saying..."look here, government isn't the answer, the market is. Let the market balance itself." ..well, ironic how thats all working out now, isn't it?! Great plan. Lets put greed and self interest above everything, and see how the poor, old and weak get by. If the herd instincts follows anything, its the market philosphy.

  • @ pjamesbda: the free market hasn't been allowed to work. Free market isn't greed & self-interest - you're confusing free market with what we have now, which isn't free market, it's government & big banks/business collusion. We need to audit, then end the Federal Reserve bank (a private, offshore bank) and get the fed gov out of the way, let states regulate, if needed & free markets to work. What has the fed gov done that gives you such confidence in their ability to do this right?

  • if the obamascare was so good for the american people why doesnt obama explain the bill and go over every word thats in the bill and tell us the truth about how much it is going to cost the taxpayer is it because he doesnt even fucking know whats in the the bill he doesnt even fucking understand the bill the only thing i ever hear from obama is if you like your insurance you have now you can keep it is that all he knows about this bill you fucking liberals are nuthin but SHEEP

  • That's simply not true. One reason he doesn't explain it line by line is that people like you wouldn't understand. You'd continue to get your news from people who lie to you and make you feel right when you are, in fact, quite wrong.

There's nothing devious about this bill. If there was something sneaky in it, believe me you would have heard of it by now because the insurance companies are reading it.

All he wants to do is help people like you, who aren't smart enough to get decent jobs.

  • "There's nothing devious about this bill. If there was something sneaky in it, believe me you would have heard of it by now ... "

We've heard of it. I've read the bill. I've read all bills since Obaminator's start.

But, when anyone who read the bill points out the express or implied meaning, we're called right wing or racist or conspiracy or astroturf or on & on & on.

The truth is: it's UNCONSTITUTIONAL & it goes against plain ole common sense. Fed gov has no authority in medical care.

  • 'implied meaning of the bill' : That's where you get called names, because when you claim that providing insurance for everyone is unconstitutional, you display how little you actually know about the constitution.

"Fed gov has no authority in medical care" : again this is where you look silly. They're not involved in medical care, they'd be involved in funding it, which is exactly the sort of thing our taxes should be going to. As opposed to an unconstitutional war.

    Read the bill again.

  • HR3200 expressly outline fed gov control over all health insurance, doctors, other med practitioners and medical practices. It outlines all details or leaves the details to the discretion of an "appointed" (not elected) gov official. Yes, you can keep your current insurance policy, but the terms of the policy are dictated by the terms of this bill, or by future regs, from an appointed committee. State gov now regulates medicine & health insurance & license: MD, DO, Chiro, nurse, massage, etc.

  • you use the word 'control' disingenuously.

Regulation does not control. We, the people, regulate all kinds of industries, but a stepped-back regulation is not even remotely comparable to what you're incorrectly labeling 'control.'

NOTHING, nothing at all will change regarding your interaction with your doctor. You don't know what you're talking about.

  • the bill is available for anyone to read if you download it. No one really knows how much it will cost. I'm assuming it all depends how many people choose this option of healthcare. The Bill is also not finalized yet.

I also like to note that we are already paying for universal healthcare... well not for americans anyways... we are paying Israels, afganistans, and Iraqs health care.... hmm I'm pretty sure the Bush adminstration wasn't liberal.

  • watch?v=opGh9PLEcVA&feature=sdig&et=1251573717.38

  • These conservative's are getting closer and closer to being as bad as the extremists in Afghanistan.

  • take away health care from all members of congress til the entire nation is covered...watch how fast something happens. America, where is the great nation that you once were?

  • These right-wingers are proving themselves time and again to be morons. The basic fact is they cannot get over the fact they lost the last election. More to the point, they cant fathom that the majority VOTED for this healthcare bill.

  • If the Government is not there to help me or my neigbor when things are bad then STOP TAKING MY MONEY!! I get paid, the money is TAXED before I see it, I buy a house its TAXED EVERY YEAR, I buy things at the store its TAXED, I pay my phone bill its TAXED, I use the roadways its TAXED. So what are they doing with ALL OF MY TAX MONEY IF THEY CAN'T HELP THE PUBLIC???????

  • They are helping the public. Ever heard of Medicare and Medicaid?

  • Kap,

They are bleeding us dry in taxes for their friggen WARS, and WE pay for their health care.

Even the doctors today are nothing but pimps for those two big whores; insurance companies and Big Pharma.

National health care is the only way to go!

Doctors dont become doctors these days to help people, they come for the big bucks they can make; National health care would weed those greedy bastards out! (grin)

  • Neither the Democrats or the Republicans do anything to reduce the size of government and neither represent the American people. The Republicans are mostly owned by the military industrial complex and the Democrats are owned by Insurance corporations and Wall Street.

  • I makes me wondering why I should work hard to provide for my family, when I can just have this new government provide everything for me.

  • feel blessed you have a job. and if you can help your brother out feel even more blessed

  • The problem is that editing videos to deceive people into believing something false was something that a true journalist would not do.

The President and the Democrats and their willing accomplices in the media are LYING to the people about this "reform".

  • are you kidding? ahh, death panels anyone? the republicans are in the insurance companies back pocket and they are the ones spreading lies. case in point, death panels

  • People are miss representing what Sarah Palin said. She was not talking specifically about this bill, or any bill. She was talking about the whole notion of government run, tax payer funded healthcare. When the party in power has supported murdering over 30 million unborn children, can death panels be to far behind?

  • The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obamas death panel so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their level of productivity in society whether they are worthy of health care.

this is a direct quote. the truth of what she said is clear. so now who is lying? it seems that you are misrepresenting the truth

  • RepublicanTrollJoe,

Morning Joe, how's the trolling going? (grin) Gee Joe, you are defending that nut job Palin; you have really hit a new LOW Joe. (smile)

  • I would even defend you if you were being mispresented.

  • RepublicanTrollJoe,

"I would even defend you if you were being mispresented" (misrepresented) (smile)

Now Joe, you know, that isn't so! LOL

You are a Troll for the GOP, and I am a Liberal who lives on the left coast! (giggle)

  • What isn't so? The fact that the liberal media continues to attack Sarah Palin. It is almost comical how hypocritical the media is. She points out that a government run and funded healthcare system would lead to death panels and they go off on her. She decides to change directions in her life and she gets attacked as a quitter. Very odd behavior.

  • RepublicanTrollJoe,

Palin is a wolf killing, environment destroying, total Pentecostal Nut Job, who still believes in witches, and thinks this planet is only 6000 years old. LOL

Come on Joe, even a Troll for the GOP cant be that friggen stupid! (grin)

The ONLY thing Palin is good for is SNL! LOL

  • You cannot stop yourself, can you? Are you bating me now? Naughty girl!

You don't know what she thinks or what I think for that matter. You are so emotionally invest in President Obama's image, you cannot see beyond it.

Just remember one thing, there is no such thing as bad press!

  • RepublicanTrollJoe,

"You don't know what she thinks"

Oh but I do Joe, as unfortunately, I was raised in the Pentecostal religion, and I can honestly say, without ANY reserve what so ever, that they are all bat-shit crazy. (grin)

Palin is a friggen JOKE, good for nothing but a boom for SNL ratings!

Hay Joe, how old do you think this planet is?

  • Not as old as the myth of evolution says.

  • RepublicanTrollJoe,

Good Morning Joe, how's the trolling going, buddy? (smile)

"Not as old as the myth of evolution says."

LOL Why am I not surprised you are a bible thumper, Joe. (giggle)

You condone torture; you lie about WHO you are, and what YOU are doing on YT.

Lying and condoning torture, and thinking this planet is only 6000 years old yep, you're a Christian! LOL

  • Continuing to insult I see. You find this a good substitute for actually engaging in debates.

  • RepublicanTrollJoe,

"You find this a good substitute for actually engaging in debates."

Now Joe, if you were a real TY person I would, but you are a Troll for the GOP, and besides you think this planet is only 6000 years old! LOL

  • Now who is lying? I never said anything about the earth being only 6000 years old.

Tell me, can you prove how old the earth is?

  • RepublicanTrollJoe,

"I never said anything about the earth being only 6000 years old."

You Judas Phony F**K! LOL Now you are denying your own belief system? LOL

Your lucky Joe, there isnt a hell, or you would burn there! LOL

  • I never said how old the earth is. You never said how old you think it is.

  • everybody pays under the Obama plan ,just less then they do now. we will eliminate the middle man. the people that donot pay now will not pay in the future also.

  • obama is not a socialist more like liberal and in love with banks

  • Government = We the People = Neighbors.

So ultimately he is favor of the Public Option.

I rather pay higher taxes than deal with a bunch of ill people knocking my door for help.

Guys this the 21st Century, cmon. !!

  • If government = We the People= Neighbors why do so many people hate their government? Because it lies to us, steals from us, creates dependency, runs up debt, devalues our money, gets us into unnecessary wars, creates terrorism, over regulates, over taxes, etc. You have to be crazy to buy the crap you are spewing.

  • You are in part right, there is a disconnection, but that doesn't mean that we have to get rid of government. Many Americans were not paying attention to politics in the good days so the lobbing groups took control. Republicans did nothing to fix HCon their own way when they were majority.

Why do we have to trust them now.

They were obsessed with terrorism so we lost 8 years.

So we have a new government that is trying to do something all the hell broke loose.

  • I don't know of anyone who want to get rid of government ,good sir, just cut it down to size. I don't trust the republicans, they are a pathetic bunch aswell. They have no problem with getting us into unjust wars and wasteing money on other things. We don't have a new government, just a new administration. Same crap, different smell lol. Have a great day sir :)

  • Yes, I'm also for smaller government.

The problem is that if it get small it becomes an easy pray for Meagacorporation interest.

I think the push has to be for more transparency, rather than smaller size. Is not easy. Bush tried to deregulate to reduce size and look what happen. Crooks took over. What I'm trying to say is that conventional wisdom doesn't always apply and there are always unintended consequences.

  • Well the biggest problem with big buisness is when it gets together with big government. The big government gives big contracts to big buisness, passes laws that make it harder for competition to get into buisness and more. I agree, there are almost always unintended consequences with government action. Well, goodnight sir

  • Well, I urged people to vote third party last elections but nobody listened.

Ralph Nader has fought a lifetime against corporate interest but nobody gave a dam about him. Ron Paul and Mike Gravel were also interesting alternatives.

I wonder why the people that is rising hell on the town halls, never bothered to rise hell on why the third party candidates were shun out of the Presidential debates.

To me Obama seem OK, but I'm not totally convinced. People have to give him some slack.

  • luv ron paul

  • Lucem2

Couldn't agree more on third party candidates. Ron Paul , in my humble opinion, was the best candidate in a very long time.

Problem is the government and therefore elections rules are controled by the dems and reps.

Obama dosen't seem Ok to me, for many reasons. My veiw on any and all public officials is "keep a close eye on them" :) Good day sir.

  • Olbermann probably thinks Sen. Coburn should have given the lady permission to rob banks. That way she could get the money she needs for health care. Coburn answered the lady properly. If she cannot pay for the help she needs she will have to rely on the goodwill of others. That is charity. The government model the socialists like Olbermann are pushing is coercion and violence. No wonder he can't understand the senator!

  • "sayed their neighbors should help but not via their government" When the government "helps" people it is not their neighbors helping. It is poloticians deciding what to do with other people's money. If just taking money from group A and giving it to group B meant that group A was "helping" B then hell, go rob a gas station and give some of the money to some poor people and voila!! The gas station helped people!! It is called theft people, and it is immoral.

  • Neighbors helping neighbors... the disconnect is so blatant, so inane, so... so... dare I say it? STUPID that it boggles the lucid mind. The insufferable twit that makes the argument that we the people should help each other while, yet we the people ARE the government & that we WANT to help each other puts the spot light on the problem: HIM. Him & those whom he represents, not the people, but the corporations with their corrosive, corruptive, destructive, & lethal impact on our lives & liberty.

  • Most states have programs for assisted care. Nursing homes are not covered. Ususally if one requires residence in a nursing home, that individuals income and belongings bocome property of the nursing home, or some entity designated to liquidate the individuals belongings. It's a difficult situation and varies depending on the individual. I happen to live with my Mother who has Alzheimers. If I did not reside here, she would need to be in a nursing home.

  • I hope reporters find out who that incredibly brave woman is and put pressure on the government to help her. I bet Coburn does not do a damn thing to help her.

  • he brought light to the greedieness of priviate insurance companies. what have you done?

  • The center on budget and policies priorities says this about Coburn's health proposal: The Patients Choice Act, introduced by Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) and Representative Paul Ryan (R-WI), would likely fail to make major progress in reducing the number of uninsured Americans. It also would make affordable, comprehensive coverage less available for many who currently have coverage... Plan Would Jeopardize Needed Care for Tens of Millions of Medicaid Beneficiaries"

Face it, he is an A1 bastard.

  • iT'S NOT GOV'TS PLACE TO TAKE OVER HEALTHCARE. iF IT'S NOT ABOUT POWER THAN FIX IT WITHOUT A TAKEOVER. NOOO THEY DON'T WANT TO DO THAT CAUSE THEY WANT TO CONTROL YOU. WAKE UP PEOPLE !! THOSE WHO DEPEND ON GOV'T AND CAN'T THINK ON THEIR OWN WILL ALWAYS BE THAT WAY, I CAN'T HELP THAT. I BELIEVE IN HELPING THE NEEDY BUT NOT THE LAZY OR THE GREEDY. THIS IS BIGGER THAN HEALHCARE, IT'S ABOUT FREEDOM AND OUR CONSTITUTION !! WE'RE AMERICA NOT EUROPE. THIS AIN'T HAPPENING. TRUE AMERICANS WILL STOP IT !

  • if it can be fixed by the people it would have by now. einstiens definition of insanity, cont. to do the same thing and expecting different results. its broke, expecting it to fix itself is ignorant.

  • 125 years ago there were few cures for diseases, doctors just old you what you had & little care for those w/ serious problems.

Today, u can have a major problem & need $400K to cover the costs to take care of it.

You need a pooling of resources to do that - u can't just go to your NEIGHBOR & say I need $400K.

Sen Coburn seems to think u can & even offers to help himself. So let's see if he steps forward w/ $400K. Or, get ready...or sees if there's any way A GOV'T PROGRAM can help her.

  • Single payor Canada negotiated contracts with big Pharma for adequate epidemic vaccines to H1N1. Tax incentives for pharma to set up shop in Canada in exchange for adequate vaccines and JOBS on-shore. Maybe Americans should consider single-payer. With your population=power. Support the MAN you elected. Where are all those celebrities now (new monied) accepting some tax increases to supprt the un or under-insured who made them what they are today. Be Gandhi-esque but get out there folks,

  • The Republicans know that if the Democrats pass single payer or a public insurance option, it will be successful and the Republican party will be out of power for generations. So they are fighting or their political future. It's ironic that people who don't belive in government are trying so hard to win back their political power.

The Democrats should turn the tables and hand the Republicans a defeat instead, and make the country a better place to live.

  • And the crowd applauds Coburn for that b.s. pabulum he's spitting out. It's true--what the Hell is the matter with these people?

  • coburn should have just told that woman to pull herself up by her bootstraps

  • Damn (R)epublitards. Because bushco screwed up everything it touched there is a perception that ALL government will not work.

  • Trying to think of something Bush screwed up that Obama is not making worse. Can't think of anything. Borrowing more money than Bush, continuing the same stupid wars, and even monetizing debt which has destroyed the currency in every single country that has tried it.

  • if they were honest they would just admit that they don't care if people who can't afford healthcare die, and they would admit that they are against medicare on principle

  • if conservatism was intrinsically compassionate they wouldn't have to call it "compassionate conservatism"

  • Win.

  • The answers to the hard questions anyway.

  • It most definately will cause health rationing, and what we have already hurts our children we don't need to add to power the goverment has in health care. It needs to go back to the doctors, and frankly the Unions, especially State Union workers, need to get out of the medical issues of this country. Most are not educated and turn people away, when they are very sick and on the brink of actual death, personal account. We DO NOT NEED MORE GOVERNMENT OR UNION INTERFERENCE! America united, yes.

  • this is a real piece of work, all people, in laymens terms, call correct responses Physco..just the way it works. This woman if real is an exception, and people do help people like this. The Social option, co-op option, gov run non-profit option is a total unequivicable power grab. Pure and simple, we already have a sytem in place, what we need to do is cut the crap out of it and help it work better.

  • Republicons felt the same way during Katrina.

Republicons are the BIGGEST SCUM ON THIS PLANET!!!!

  • Republicans thought of Katrina as a chance to take Louisiana's other Senate seat by turning New Orleans permanently white. That's all it was to them.

  • Well gee why dont you just put them all in camps. Thats what you want right? How about some civil discourse or do none of you know what that is.

  • This neighbor helping line is Republican boilerplate. You can freely substitute family or church. And under their desired system the neighborly help would be coerced. Once again, the principle is: those who have much are to have access to life's necessities and luxuries. The connected collect, everybody else is on their own. Poor people dying in the gutter is Republican nirvana. They win we lose perfection. Problem is that it's also unAmerican and still despite all their lies a minority view.

  • There's a table on page 26... watch?v=UaghKGcYkx8

  • Hayes makes a great point about the relative lack of political violence. When those who press the limits of freedoms are also pressed into raising their own stakes. So long as they are held up as role models by some commentators, I have little faith such luck should hold much longer before someone does something very worthy of air-time.

May you live in interesting times.

I'd like a little boredom. Anyone else?

  • Absolutely.

  • You can't equate modern technology with government. These people are insane.

  • Real Americans who work hard every to survive are NOT supporters of the status quo on healthcare, and they do not think that keeping the profits of the insurance companies high is more important than healthcare for the people.

  • vdubs4life..why cant the US govt provide health care?..how is govt providing health care any different than the govt providing security, affordable education, roads & bridges ?

do u realize medicare & medicaid are existing forms of socialized medicine ?

u conservatives had problem with the US govt dictating terry schiavo's health care...& u have no problem with the US govt stopping a women's right to choose, by banning abortions..but u dont want a govt option dictating health care?

  • Not to mention they have no problem with the government deciding who can, and cannot get married.

I'm starting to think "Conservative" is latin for "Hypocritical contradiction"

  • dawnoftheliberaldead...they really are unbelievable...they compalin about the $787B stimulus pacakage as wasteful govt spending...yet every GOP politician like palin and jindal and boehner accepts 99% of the stimulus money offered to their states.

and they rant about the sanctity of life regarding abortions...yet 99% of them favor the death penalty.

  • I'm not a "conservative". I don't want the government dictating health care. I don't want them involved in any more of my life. I want LESS of them. And there are many options available to decrease the money they spend, and to improve health care and/or health insurance, but the gov will have no part of that, and media (gov-controlled) will not talk about those options. Because this is about one thing: CONTROL of the people. The fed gov has one function: defend my freedoms.

  • mareyites...u dont want govt dictating health care?..so u are comfortable with unethical health insurance companies dictating your health care (in our current ssytem)?...do u realize medicare & medicaid are existing forms of socialized medicine?..so is the health care system for our military veterans?..the US government does not control the media (did u hear that from beck?).u idiots would believe the moon was made of cheddar cheese if that statement came out of beck's mouth or limbaugh's mouth

  • @rebjiii. That's right, why should I want the gov involved in health care? What have they ever done that's effective or efficient? Not health care, I go to VA, so I know first-hand how they deliver on that. I believe health ins companies are more ethical than the fed gov. We only need a free market, or states to involve with health care. Not fed gov. No constiutional auth for fed gov to do it. NONE. Nothing to do w/ Beck or Limbaugh, it's common sense. What does fed gov do that's good? nothing.

  • marleyites...medicare is govt run health care...over 70% of medicare participants are pleased with medicare...u wont be forced into the govt option...u can stick with your covergae with your unethical health insurance companies...whose premiums will decrease when faced with the competition from the government option....and there wont be DEATH PANELS pulling the plug on u or your grandmother.

  • @rebjii: I don't believe medicare is constitutional either, and it's full of fraud. why don't they fix that? Why are you so in love with the fed gov? they must be paying you to be a shill. I've read HR 3200. It calls for appointed (not elected) committees that decide who gets what treatments. Call them what you want, but these panels will be making life & death decisions. You're being dishonest if you tell people the fed gov provides competition. They'll run everyone else out of biz.

  • marleyites..where does the US constitution say that medicare/obamacare is allowed or disallowed?

u conservatives are quick to quote the constitution regarding gun rights and freedom of speech...so please quote me where the constitution addresses health care policy.

BTW...I am not a democratic shill...and i already have health insurance thru my job...and i earn over $250K so I will be paying an additional 4% in taxes...and I have no problem with that.

  • And the insurance companies don't make decisions on who lives or dies? Come on!!!

  • every time I see this clip I want to punch Coburn in the face for say "yeah we'll help... through our office" because you know that the poor lady is going to show up at his office and he'll act like he doesn't even know her... what a fucking douchebag...

  • "what we need is neighbors helping people who need our help"

Sounds like universal health care to me.

  • Wow, right or left, all they do is spew propaganda legitimizing government.

  • Under the government run public healthcare the neighbors would pay for her husband anyway.

  • And she would also pay for her neighbors.

  • Along with neighbors who live 2,000 miles away and don't even know her.

  • How horrible.

  • Americans should take care of their own.... that said, Republicons should be exempt from health care.

  • Forcing someone to pay for another or help another is slavery. Freely helping others is charity. Do you know the difference?

  • Then abolish all the Car insurance companies.

You can't drive without insurance, and you are paying for others tragedys.

    LOL

  • Are you under the delusion that "YOU" will be paying someone else's healthcare bill. You'll be paying an insurance premium ... that's a tax by any other name ... and by the way insurance = socialism! A large group of people pool their resources to benefit the group. The only question is do you want to pay into some companies profit margin to the government that are responsible to you the voter? Tard.

  • Buying health insurance is voluntary numb-nuts. If I decide to buy it then I know those premiums go into a pool to be used to cover expenses...but it is my choice to join or not. What if I decide to cover my own costs without buying insurance? That will be illegal if jerks like you have your way. Government responsibility is an oxymoron. You have to be retarded.

  • @66605

So whats stopping Americans from being more charitable now? Rich people could be more charitable and run free hospitals but they dont. Whats your solution? Sick people should operate on themselves?

  • @TheTyaptyap: It doesn't matter b/c healthcare is not a right. Like food or education, it is important but it isn't a right b/c rights can only exist simultaneously among individuals. If I have a right to free healthcare, that means the person who pays for it does not have a right to what he produced. The only way for government to provide free healthcare is to use force and therefore immoral. Only force used in self defense can be justified.

  • @66605 Do you know what greed and selfishness is? you know the diffrence between that?
